  1. KVD is no way in the top 20 in all of sports for salaries. I found an article http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/7858863/racing-boxing-highest-paying-sports-espn-magazine it is from last year but his salary is 700k. Here are some numbers for average salaries for the major sports: NBA: $5.15 million (2010-11) MLB: $3.34 million (2010) NHL: $2.4 million (2010-11) NFL: $1.9 million (2010) So if you can assume that 2/3rds are probably below the average and 1/3 are higher with the highest amounts schewing the average more towards the bottom it is safe to say that KVD is probably not even in the top 200 in all of sports. Just the phillies alone have 10 people making more money. Also notice they don't call him sportsman of the year but outdoorsman of the year. Not to mention ESPN has a vested interest in growing the "sport" as they show the tournaments and can make more money with additional viewers.
  2. How many people do you know that go out fishing every day for 3 months in a row? I was pretty dedicated and never went out three months in row. I woudl imagien the only people that even come close to that are guides. And pro athletes are paid what they are worth....Fishing does not bring in big money so they don't get paid the big money like the other real sports. And if you want to know dedication get to know some triathletes....that puts everything in to perspective.
  3. So the theory i have heard and that makes sense to me is that fish are curious creatures. If something is in their area and they don't know what it is they go over and check it out. If you move it it can either create a reaction strike or spook them. By letting it sit motionless, they come over and investigate and if you let it sit long enough they want to investigate more so they will pick it up to see if it is edible or not. Basically they don't have hands so they have to use their mouth to investigate...
  4. Not a sport and anglers are not athletes.
  5. later for sure....i shift my fishing to afternoon outings rather than morning this time of year.
  6. So the section i did is about half full but it turns out we had a bad season for zoysia growing. Apparently it never got hot enough and almost had to much rain in teh growing season for it to totally take hold and spread like crazy. I will be curious to see how it does next year.
  7. That is awesome.....It always makes you wonder what was strong enough to do that and makes the experience that much better.
  8. Running a business is not easy and while I have no doubt you were a help to him in setting up his product line in the store I can bet that getting product out to you is not a top priority with the Christmas season on the horizon. Maybe give him a call and leave a voice mail or an email asking for a timeframe or setting up some time to talk. Good luck and hopefully it all works out for you in the end
  9. total side track but i saw guy rocking these on his moped.....
  10. If the guy is a part owner continue dealing with him. You don't want to tick off the guy who is owner of the company you want to represent.
  11. Formula will kill you for sure. One way to help yourself out is to become friends with someone who works in a pediatrician's office, they get free samples all the time. The other thing to do is to join up on the formula of your choice's website with as many email addresses as you own. They send out coupons all the time and using those in combination with the ones from Costco or BJ's you can score some good deals. We were lucky in that we only needed formula for a month or two at which point i said screw this he is getting whole milk. He had been eating regular yogurt for a while so i wasn't worried but he also was on milk straight from the tap till he was about 10 months old. Same thing applies for diapers with regards to coupons and junk....
  12. I know i have read some pros who use leaders who say that they want the leader long enough that when landing a fish it is on the spool. I personally don't use leaders to often but when i do they are in the 6-8 foot range and i have not noticed any difference in performance casting.
  13. The funniest thing about these stories is how many people know the weight of the fish without ever feeling it in their hand. I mean look at how many people can't even estimate the weight correctly when they do land let alone the one that got away. I believe it is speed on here who has in his sig....the scale never lies but your's may be broken and then there is the other classic of i used to catch 5lbers then i got a scale and I couldn't catch anything over 4
  14. The sinking property of flouro will have zero impact on a moving bait such as a buzzbait. If it is what you feel comfortable with then by all means use it.
  15. Moon shoes work but the routines with them are really plyo workouts anyways.
  16. Never had one in the bass world but i did in the realm of brown trout. I was fishing a spring creek that is a trophy reg stream here in VA and i was throwing big streamers like i always do and this big girl cam out and took a swipe and i missed her. I never got her to strike again that day or the next 10 or so as i was now obsessed with catching her. I finally did catch her on a freezing cold january morning where the thermometer never got above 20 but i caught her so i am good Funny thing is i don't remember how long she was but i would have to look at the picture but i know she met the size reg for being able to be kept which was 22".
  17. Is this 20-40 feet suspending or on the bottom?
  18. There is no such thing as a square root of a triangle. Think of it logically here....a triangle is a shape an object and the square root of something is numerically related. now are there formulas that use the square root when looking at a triangle, absolutely. A squared + B squared = C squared is used to determine the length of any of the legs of right triangle assuming you have the other two.
  19. I don't mind buying house brand but since the manufacturers of house brand equipment can change from year to year i generally prefer the name brand items. All that being said, i wouldn't hesitate to pick up another BPS PQ.
  20. I haven't heard of it but i have caught catfish, carp and crappie and a whole lot of other fish species so why not.....

So i guess it is safe to say the $400 price tag shouldn't scare me away for the 22.5" version Looks like i know what i am asking santa for this year. I use my kettle grill and after I use it for smoking it seems to take a few uses before the taste is back to standard charcoal. Not a big fan of apple and cherry on my burgers or steaks

I have looked at those smokers too...is that the smokey mountain deal? How are they for maintaining temps? I can't imagine it being any more difficult than using my weber kettle but i was just curious.
  23. Plyometrics are your friend I can almost guarantee that if you stick to a ploy routine in the offseason you can increase your vertical leap by 4-6". I didn't even do them because i have been blessed with the ability to jump but i had friends do it and they saw great increases.
  24. Awesome. We used to do it and have to see how high up we can hit the backboard on each jump too. The key to rebounding is always how quickly you can jump consecutive times, well that and positioning. I attribute this drill to helping me be able to dunk with one step, even being a 5'11 white guy Now you make me want to go shoot around.....guess that is what i will be doing later on today
  25. If your kid is built anything like you the changing table will probably be to small after about 4 months :)
