  1. You forgot abotu teh other blockbuster signing......the phillies and their horrible GM Amaro overpaying for a washed up has been Marlon Byrd......Also the ruiz signing which i like sort of but they need to get tommy joseph up there and trade ruiz mid season while he has some value.
  2. Carolina is going to put a hurting on Brady. And how many teams have a bye week then a monday night game.....seems like some favoritism going on there giving them an extra day. And for the record it might happen with other teams too but i cannot stand the cheatriots so i will call this one out Oh....and how about those Eagles?? Foles looks like he might be the Eagles QB of the future and the skins....well they are toast and will be mediocre for years to come since they have no first round draft picks for the next three years when they traded them away for RGIII aka the crybaby diva
  3. I have never heard of anyone who bought SI say they wish they hadn't....
  4. You will get responses on this much like you would for asking if shimano or lews or diawa are the best....I like Trokar hooks and get them when they are on sale. Yeah they shred plastics but that is a small price to pay if you feel you are getting a better hook up percentage.
  5. I caught a few sturgeon on the Delaware river near trenton when we were using cut bait for stripers. Other than that a bowfin which i really want to get some more of because they are awesome and next time i want to get one on my fly rod.
  6. Sorry but 99.9% of "warranty claims" are not really warranty claims. If a rod is bad you will know early in it's life, probably the first day you fish with it. After that, breaks occur because of something they you did to the rod. So in essence it is not a warranty but an insurance policy where you pay your deductible and get a new rod. Now if the sales lady was pushy that is one thing but to blame St Croix seems kind of odd. Also comparing St. Croix to Amazon isn't really a fair comparison. Also, how far do you live from a post office to spend $20 in gas to get there? You can always set up a home pick up from either fed ex or UPS which is generally cheaper than your $20 in gas spend.
  7. They actually make the distinction that it is salary and or prize money and endorsements are not part of the deal. the article is also labeled is highest paid athletes in 31 sports.
  8. No it is you bought two $300 rods for $350 but you broke one. I find it odd that was your experience and I also have no problem with them asking you to pay for shipping especially since this is not a warranty claim.
  9. As long as the water isn't frozen I will fish for bass. I also agree that the bass are generally larger in the winter for me too. My largest bass of he year came on Jan. 1 and the water temp was in the high 30's. Not sure of the weight but she was 23".
  10. LOL I am actually doing my best to get out of the carpet walking world.....only a little more than a year. I just hope i can last that long since as I see the light at the end of the tunnel it makes it harder and harder to stay.....
  11. Many times for sales they build an item that looks the same but isn't as high of quality as the normal version. If you want to see where it happens the most, take a look at the black friday TV deals that will be coming out. Specs will not be the same as a normal TV, especially with the number of inputs and outputs available.
  12. Other than my fly rods I don't think i have kept a conventional rod for 5 years and even if I did, I am not sure that length of a warranty would come into play.
  13. Those that don't adapt....die
  14. I forgot about project management. And i know it would be tough to move form a construction based field to a corporate environment but there is always a need for project managers in just about every field.
  15. What about becoming an estimator or inspector in the HVAC field? I know when my dad's business got a little to large for him to manage by himself he hired on a guy to only do estimates. And while i know if you become an inspector you went to the dark side it would still keep you in a field you seem to enjoy but not the physical parts.
  16. I used them all of last season and liked them. They provide good grip and feel nice in the hand. I was worried they would get hot from laying out on the kayak but no worries there either. All in all a pretty good price for a rod that is the same blank as the Avid.
  17. When i was a kid my dad and i were out fishing and he was trying to be funny and he cast out towards some ducks. Well his casting was a little more accurate than he thought and he hooked on. The duck felt it and started flying away and as you know, there was not braid back then, so the mono was streeeeeeetching and boing, flew right back and caught him right above his eye. I'll never forget looking up and seeing the classic gold with black back rapala floating minnow hanging from his face. I wasn't that old so i wasn't able to help to much but we ended up getting it out and fished the rest of the day.
  18. I have caught many a fish i never felt but the line acted differently. I will also echo to watch where the line enters the water. I fish a lot of weightless soft plastics and you almost have to become a line watcher to be successful in this technique because it is as much about the lack of motion as it is actually moving....if that even makes sense
  19. Maybe the better conclusion to make is that being a pro fisherman or whatever does not require one to be athletic at all, just like golf or pool or any other games out there.
  20. All depends on the size of your gear, the load capacity of the yak and the amount of storage. 10 foot boats generally don't have a very high load capacity but it is doable. 12' boats are plenty maneuverable and have more storage capacity. I have done 3 night trips in my old coos with no problems and that was an 11' 2" boat. As far as being more portable you aren't going to see much of a difference in a few feet, now if yo hare talking a 10' to a 14' then yeah but between a 10' and a 12' i wouldn't use that as a primary factor in which boat you want.
  21. I recently upgraded my router to one of the Apple Airport Time capsules. It isn't cheap but it works as a 2TB back up and the router has been great so far with our iPad, MacBook Air, Dell laptop and a few iPhones. It allows a lot of connections and you can easily set up guest access as well. I also haven' noticed any difference in connectivity ore performance between the PC or the Mac, well other than the Mac is brand new lol
  22. The article you are referencing isn't a list of the top earners in all of sports it is a comparison of the top earners in each category where he does rank 20th. But like i said before he wouldn't even make the top 10 on many baseball teams. http://espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6391391
  23. Conventional: baitcasters- 2 MHF and one crank bait specific Spinning- 1 MXF and 1 MF Fly gear 2 set ups tops...9' 7 wt and sage bass II Largemouth which i believe is the equivalent of about a 10-11wt line
  24. Pro athlete for what? And being sore doesn't mean it is a sport. if you take a football player and have them play soccer or try and pitch a simulated baseball game i can bet they would be sore too. Just like if i try to run it kills me but put me on a bike and i am good.
  25. I totally agree. If you added in endorsements i would bet he drops even further down the list. The most recent info i could find was from back in 2006 and KVS was getting 500k a year so even if you tripled that he is still in the 2m a year range which is still below the mean for all sports without including endorsements except the NFL.
