  1. Also as far as the fish eye goes it all depends on the resolution you use and you can get rid of it easily in the software or by getting a different lens. I have never seen it as a problem myself. I also use mine as much for when we go to the shore or the river or pool to film my 3 year old son as i do for fishing. It is great to have a fully waterproof camera and video that is not much bigger than a smartphone.
  2. I figure if i am going to become a better angler I need to learn to catch fish in any type of conditions. And there is no way i am canceling an outing when the weather is good because it is post front. I have thoguht twice about not going out when it is 40 and rainy but then i just change it up and actually go takethe long rod and chase trout in the mountains on most occasions. They are more likely to play nice when the weather is bad and i am moving more so staying warm is a little easier.
  3. All the weather does for me is help me to decide what type of clothing to wear. The only exception is wind but then it just changes which bodies of water i will be targeting for the day.
  4. I wouldn't base buying or not buying a rod on whether it had micro guides or not. If i like the rod, I would get it. Other than a few mojo bass rods i have in my quiver all my rods happen to have micro guides as of right now.
  5. A quick search led me to the same conclusion...it is a semi common issue. If you have the 3.8 i am pretty sure that is the same motor used in the wranglers and i frequent those message boards and i haver never seen anyone say they needed to replace a cam and in general, the jeepers are going to be a little harder on their motors than your typical minivan driver.
  6. Do you think you can get a good feel on a line's behavior in just a 10' piece? I don't use leaders very often at all, probably less than 5% of the time but i have thought about it a few times lol
  7. Replacing a cam shaft isn't necessarily difficult but it does pretty much men taking the motor out and taking all of the front end off to access and replace. Usually you replace all of the items you took off if they weren't recently replaced and timing chains etc... As far as 4-5k for replacing the motor, it doesn't sound bad to me but it would also depend on the type of motor being used to replace it with. is it one out of a junker or a recent rebuild etc... I also wonder why you need a new camshafts. Unless you have a gazillion miles on it or there is some other type of manufacturing defect they don't just wear out. The other thing is I am guessing the blue book on that vehicle is probably 8-9k at most so you have to decide if that 4-5k is best spent fixing this one or trying to sell it with the issue and using that 4-5k as a downpayment on a newer vehicle
  8. Weight savings and more guides equals stress spread over the blank more evenly.
  9. I will concur that glacier fed streams are always cold.....i fished the sierras in august and there was still snow on the peaks and the water was in the 40's
  10. I am not convinced the action of the plastic/jig/tube whatever, is as important as is the non-action of the angler.
  11. Well the intent is good but there are a lot of grammatical and spelling errors in there ranging from using threw instead of through to not capitalizing February, forgetting to end sentences with the appropriate punctuation and capitalizing other words randomly in sentences. In the education section you are contradicting yourself and how is your GPA in a range? My GPA in my classes right now is a fixed number not a range. I would also bullet items out and not write sentences, especially with the grammatical errors. Also if you use bullets stay consistent throughout as some sections are bulleted and others are not. I know you are young but i would recommend using one of the templates available in microsoft word or other word processing software to get he framework of your resume. Then i would do a search online for examples of resumes. Try and mimic some of the ones you find. Oh and one more thing, you have kind of combined a cover letter and resume into one sheet, which can be ok but at the same time a resume is designed to show yourself off and be the first step towards a potential interview. Overall, your intent is good and I can see where you are going but if I received this resume it would go into the shred bin after the first section. Don't take that to hard, just trying to help out as the people you send this to will not be giving any feedback other than we received your resume and if you are chosen you will hear from us. AKA don't call us, we will call you
  12. If you talk to a guide and go out with one of them they will put you on fish, that's their job. Trout in general are catchable year round and actually get pretty active in the mid 40 degree and colder water. If you do get a guide, see if you can spend some of the time getting a casting lesson from them as it will help tremendously. Looking forward to hearing the report when you get back. Just be forewarned, it will be addicting and you just may find yourself slinging the buggy whip for bass a little more often next season
  13. Interesting responses. I think many are missing the point though. There is no reason he cannot start a brick and mortar business and have an internet presence. I woudl argue it is not just a want but a requirement and personally, I would focus heavily on internet presence due to the reasons all have already mentioned. I almost, as in was having my lawyers review the documents, bought an established fly shop out in the sierras but after much thought and number crunching I was not i na palce financially to be able to not take an income for 3-5 years while i learned and grew the business. All of the succesfull start ups i have seen have business models and funding that already incorporates their salaries (if any) into the bottom line even if the business does not make a dime. Good luck and remember, customer service is king but not to the point where it damages your opportunity to succeed.
  14. Kayak friendly would also be a plus for me...unless someone was willing to mothership me to a spot and then i could launch the yak from the boat and fish.
  15. Carolina has a nasty D-Line for sure. I just wish the stupid cowboys would have stuck to their norm and blow a game late......it would have for one, left the Eagles at the top of the division and two would have given me a 3 game cushion in my on pick 'em league and put within 2 of the lead in another.
  16. There are plenty of ways to mount them and for fishing, the head mount is probably the last option I would recommend.
  17. Do I really even need to answer this one??
  18. Topwater will still work for a while Last year i caught a bass in 42 degree water on a buzz bait no less. I was having a crappy day and saw something causing a commotion. I threw a buzz bait over (that is all i had for a topwater) and proceeded to catch about 4 pickerel. I figured what the hell and kept throwing it and was treated to a bass about 2lbs. Oh, and nice fish
  19. Those are mind numbing stats.....a managed one smallie over 5lbs on the susky and that is about it. I am seriously jealous.
  20. I am in as long as it is mid to late august or even the fall. To much other stuff going on in the rest of the summer for me to commit.
  21. I believe the sahara 2500 and 3500 body sixe is the same and the only thing changes is the spool size. Personally i would go with the 2500 as it seems to do a fine job and balances on my rod well.
  22. Yeah they could have had an outfield of Pence, Victorino and Dom Brown without spending much more than they already have and they would still be relatively young. Amaro has single handedly destroyed this team by focusing on nothing really other than cliff lee. I am huge Ryan Howard fan but the extension of that contract before the current one expired was just dumb.
  23. Just imagine if they lifted the rule you have to fish out of the same boat all season.....you throw a few jet boats in there and they could make a long run upriver and get into some good smallie water for sure.
  24. Tough call there. The other thing is have they even made it known where the boundaries are going to be for the tourney yet? Ultimately it is up to you. If it was a great friend of mine i wouldn't even hesitate to share the info but a friend of a friend......no thanks.
