  1. there is no such thing as bad publicity.....
  2. to me fishing is about getting out and fishing and not socializing. I invite people to go but it doesn't change whether i go out or not. I figure if they want to go then they will join me. Now i do enjoy fishing with my dad when i get the opportunity because, let's face, dads aren't around forever but for the most part I am perfectly content to be out fishing by myself and sometimes i actually enjoy it more

  4. saw this to late but i am glad it al turned out for the best. A few prayers were still sent either way
  5. and what changes are those? Not to bust your balls or anything but i see you are not a St. Croix dealer and the rod you recommended is one that you do carry....maybe it is just the cynic in me coming out so feel free to disregard
  6. Add me to the list as well. I caught the one and only citation out of a lake i frequent using a brush hog on a shaky head in black with a blue tail. To me any plastic can be used on a shaky head and i have also had a good amount of success using a stick worm as well.
  7. i want to get a sinking or sink tip line and work on fishing flies deeper than 5-8 feet.
  8. If you can wait a month or two bass pro will have their sale and usually you can pick up the PQ for a good price and other reels as well. A few years back they had the citicas with a mail in rebate combined with the reel trade in and i got my citicas for well under 100 a piece
  9. Being an Eagles fan, I am sure happy that the Dallas December collapse continued. It does make me mad though that the Eagles didn't get the job done in Minnesota and now it will come down to one game in Dallas for the division. Unless of course dallas loses to the deadskins next week and the eagles beat the bears....
  10. so is that 1 every 3.8 years from birth or from when you acquired your first boat? I am up to 4 kayaks does that count lol
  11. I think Rogers will be back next week
  12. Makes me even more mad the Eagles blew it today......they could have been playing to wrap up the division next week
  13. the only thing better is watching Eli throw one, well maybe they are tied.....
  14. I would take that beer bet in a second. But after drinking 20 beers my judgement may be a little cloudy
  15. yeah 8 carries...doesn't make sense. Not to mention all the stupid penalties but they were right back in it only down by 5 and then the defense, or lack thereof, let the score...again and again just to be safe. Oh well, now it is time to think about the bears....
  16. defense played horrible today and the vikings secondary did a nice job for the most part. I am not sure why they didn't give the ball to McCoy more often because good things happen when he touches the ball. GO PACK!!! doesn't look good though at this point.
  17. I am by no means a connoisseur but i do like the knob creek single barrel and maker's mark when i do have a drink.
  18. Any lifejacket should do that easily. And with the low seat you will want to try the paddle out on your boat if at all possible. Honestly though, with this being your first boat and paddle you don't really know what your paddle stroke is or what will work best until you use one for a while and get some miles in.
  19. agreed and moving up between the rage and avid isn't an upgrade in my opinion, it is more of if you prefer the cork grip and not having micro guides
  20. I don't even know who that is
  21. I think it was more if the extra money saved with a rage could be used for a reel upgrade potentially.
  22. Are you getting the high or the low seat? At your height i think a 240 will be to long. I am 5'11" and i use a 240 in my commander and i usually paddle from the captain's perch and it works fine but this is also higher than the high seat ( i think) that would be the ride. When i had a standard seat SOT i used a 230 with no issues. I would recommend taking your boat with you and try out some paddles to see what works for you because there are many factors in determining paddle length and height is just one part. Your torso length, arm length and paddle stroke will also dictate which type of paddle to get.
  23. I had some bad luck with the veritas rods when they first came out and broke three of them. I fished the mojo series for over a year and definitely liked them too. Now when the veritas wasn't broken it performed well and for the price it is right up there for sure as far as bang for the buck.
  24. well i have used the avid and rage in heh 6'8" MXF and i liked the rage better but i am not a big fan of full cork handles either. you will be happy with either one for sure.
  25. oh and i have the 6'8" MXF spinning rod and it is my favorite rod. I think in all the series of st croix rods that i have used this is the length, power and action they have dialed in the best.
