  1. I prefer braid for pretty much everything except walk the dog type baits as it tends to get wrapped around the trebles easier. I have also actually started to prefer braid for crankbaits as well. All the talk about braid floating and affecting the running depth of the bait just doesn't work for me. You can use a smaller diameter braid then you can in mono or flouro which cuts through the water better hence getting the bait deeper. When i switched from 8lb flouro to 8lb diameter PP Super slick i gained about a foot or two of diving depth on my cranks.
  2. BPS PQ or a Citica will both suit your needs and price range. I own both and really like them. My other question would be you mention a sedona and then want a baitcaster. Do you have a rod for your new reel or are you talking 120 for a new combo? That will change up things as far as what is available in that price range.
  3. Yesterday i took out my 3 year old for his second fishing trip since the first time last summer he was more interested in playing with the dirt and throwing rocks. I made a trip out to Walmart to get him his own Cars fishing rod and some nightcrawlers hoping we could get into some sunnies. As we were getting ready to leave he told me he was going to catch a big fish and then kiss and then eat him I told him well we have to let the mgo so we can catch them again an he told me ok daddy that makes sense. Anyways here are a few pics
  4. I also think most top anglers like a bait before they are sponsored by them and once they get to be big time they then are more involved in the R & D side of the equation. So yes they get paid but i would venture a guess it isn't as much as we would like to think. Now the one show i cannot stand because of all the brand dropping is Roland Martin. Every fish he catches he has to go through his whole set up and name brands for everything he is using. Not to mention he looks like he is nascar with all his logos every where.
  5. A buddy of mine fished there last friday and caught 18....all on a buzz bait but nothing huge with the largest 3-4 going about 18" and the rest in the 12-15 inch range.
  6. Haven't fished either of those but i will say after i picked up my crankbait specific rod my catch rate went way up. I have a kistler helium micro guide crank rod matched up with a 4.7:1 BPS PQ.
  7. i am not a hunter but for some reason i like hunting shows. i can't stand when i see people hunting black bear over bait and they say we just have to wait for them to get their head out to get a clean shot. then they go crazy like they did something special.....might as well go hunt in a zoo or on s game reserve where they drive till they get close enough to shoot and even use the vehicle as a gun stand.
  8. To me using braid isn't about the breaking strength per se as much as it is about how it lays on the spool. I use 8lb diameter PP Super slick on my cranking set up and usually 10-12lb diameter on my other casting rods and for spinning rods i usually use the 6lb diameter. I have no worries of breaking the line while fishing and have bent open snagged EWG hooks on weightles plastics using the 6lb diameter PP on more than one occasion.
  9. First thing i would do is work on your grammar and writing. I know you are young and i also know this is an online forum but you will have to write resumes and cover letters etc...and if you write in the same manner as your question then you most likely will not get a second look. WIth all that being said, i wil ladd on to the get a career and keep focusing on your education. Also rad up on some of the stories of the elite anglers out there. I think you will be surprised to see how many were working their tails off with other jobs while competing just trying to make ends meet.
  10. I tried watching it but couldn't get past the first commercial break. The "challenges" are cheesy and it isn't anything like i thought it was going to be. Although I do have to admit i did try to get on the show when i found out about it
  11. I realize it it is cheaper....it wa said tongue in cheek to sa just deal with it for the added benefit of not paying as much.
  12. Then don't use insurance and pay out of pocket to whoever you want....problem solved
  13. What is funny too is this same guy makes excuses for Lee and i said well last year when Lee wasn't getting any run support you never said he was a bum and honestly when Lee is off he is really off. Of course i may be a bit biased because i drove up to philly from VA to see the playoff game agains the cardinals where Lee blew a 4 run lead and basically cost them the series.....i still think they would have won it all if they won that game. Anyways.....i shouldn't get myself angry this early in the workday
  14. So let me ask you guys since you are obviously knowledgable in baseball...me and a buddy ahve been arguing over Hamels. He says he is a bum and not an ace. I argue that while he is not an Ace he is still a solid #2 pitcher and has been plagued by horrible run support this year as can be seen by 9 games where he has let up 3 or fewer runs and still lost the game. So i guess the question is would you want Hamels on your respoective teams ( and not fantasy either lol ) ?
  15. Anything that isn't a square bill i use 8lb diameter power pro super slick. Square bills i am using 10lb diamter PP super slick. I know many scoff at using braid for cranking but i have found it works better and lasts longer and provides more feedback to me as to what the crank is doing down deep.
  16. Hamstrings suuuuck!!! It is one of those injuries that if you don't let heal properly it will do just that, not heal properly and nag you for years. take it easy and just because it feels good doesn't mean it is.
  17. revere was touted as a high average hitter, which he is startign to show a little bit but he has negative power. I think he has hit one extra base hit this sseason and his OF play is horrible. The reason he was known for all the highlight reel grabs is because he never takes a good line to the ball and with his blinding speed he makes up for it to make a spectacular play which really could have been avoided. And he might as well be throwing underhand to reach the cutoff man....
  18. man don't get me all worked up on that one....I know they had a semi fire sale last year but that was more to get rid of contracts so they could at least get something in return. I still feel like they are only a few pieces away from being a good team. I wonder what they would be like if they kept Pence and Victorino to pair up with Dom Brown in the outfield....
  19. This is true but it still sucks to stay up late to watch Cliff Lee pitch a pretty outstanding game only for papelbon and the bullpen to lose it. I guess it comes with the territory of being a Philadelphia sports fan
  20. I haven't owned a Lew's but i did pick up a PQ in the 4.7:1 for cranking and i love it. It is a really smooth reel and definitely gets the job done.
  21. lol...it's called bass thumb and it is a good thing. Now i will follow the rules of your post and call you both a whiner and a pansy

  23. Yeah he is. He always starts slow and picks it up later on but these blown saves are ridiculous. I know a guy can't be perfect but 4 out of 5 is pretty bad especially after he went on that little tirade after the a loss when he said people need to do their jobs and not make mistakes.
  24. All i have to ask is what the crap is up with Papelbon!!!! Dude is a save blowing machine.
  25. I think consumers demand quality at a fair price and until both of those factors are met nothing will change. As a country we have turned into a service oriented society so supporting the USA in your purchases isn't just about the stickers on the box but how it got there, is later serviced and who sold it to you.
