  1. I have one of the KK speed demons or whatever it is called. It is alright but nothing special. It is kind of heavy but once i got it dialed in it does cast a mile but is already noisy. For the money it is alright but i'd just keep your eyes peeled on the fishing flea market forum here instead.
  2. always do because most times i am feathering the line as it comes off the spool and it is a natural thing for me now since i have been doing it for pretty much ever.
  3. how many rods can you fit in a 4" tube? seems awful small. As far as how to mount it to your rack they are pretty easy to find on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041NT9TU/ref=twister_B079J55N53?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 You can also look at these kits as well and I am pretty sure you can get just their saddles and bolts from somewhere as well. I just didn't feel like looking for them. I have one of their 8" kits sitting in my garage right now jut waiting to go get the 8" diameter pipe
  4. i may be ignorant on how the boonedox works but i thought the pressure wasn't on the hull but on the plates which are underneath the top side of the boat and the weight is then pulling up on the topside. I know i have seen some pictures of cracked boats before depending on the mounting location and the weight of the boat itself.
  5. just curious, where did i say he wasn't winning any money? I have read articles stating it costs roughly 100k at minimum to compete each year which doesn't even count tackle and all that mess. So like i said, his winnings barely covered his actual costs and his main money came from sponsors which is probably why it is easier to move on to another tour.
  6. he wasn't making that much bank. Yes he made good money on the tournament he won, 100K i believe but other than that his money came from sponsors. His tournament winnings probably didn't even cover travel and tournament expenses. This is probably the exact reason he went on to do a different tour.
  7. it is quite the event. You won't find a better place to try pretty much every kayak under the sun in one place at one time. And yeah, those are way different boats for sure lol
  8. There will be deals to be had. last time i went they were selling off their demo boats and their prices are also generally better than you would find anywhere else. Their online prices aren't as good as in store for sure. I know my last boat I bought, an ATAK 140, was much cheaper in person than their online price.
  9. The biggest bass I have caught act much like everyone has described. One thing i have also noticed is on the hooks they don't really move much, it feels like you are snagged but then they pull back.
  10. Permethrin as has alread been stated is the way to go. Also, I am pretty sure this is the time of year in most parts of the country where they are breeding so you are moer likely to encounter them in bunches. There are a few places I won't fish from teh bank in the spring early summer just for this reason. Make sure you give yourself a good check when you get home as well.
  11. I just stand up in my kayak and let it go....like i did today three times lol
  12. Francho pretty much covered it in his post. It is my preferred line and if you treat it with KVD afte respooling and before each trip it is pretty manageable. It is super strong for it's lb test as well. Just be sure to retie if you are using and try to pull a snag or soemthing. it will stretch and i have noticed it gets weakened, like any non braid line would.
  13. Fish areas like the stumps aren't there then fish the stumps in those areas. I fish a lake that has a ton of standing timber as well and an older guy told me that advice and it flat out works. The fish are going to relate to structure first and then cover in these types of lakes in my experience
  14. time to resurrect an old thread....Sixers are handling the nets but still have a lack of experience. boston seems to have flipped the switch so to speak. OKC is doing their normal choke job with Westbrook the stat filler at the helm. Looking forward to the next round for sure but we gotta put these nets away first.
  15. I don't get why you would want to use the scuppers anyways. Seems like it would be more of a pain to put the cart on there to me anyways. Same for those boonedox landing gears that everyone loves. A lot of stress on those plates in a small area. I'll stick to my C tug.....
  16. I do think the pendulum is swinging far to the side of propulsion either pedal or power and it will settle somewhere. It is also not a coincidence that motors that were once frowned upon for anything other than disabled is now the norm, oh wait i forgot, Torqueedo is a major sponsor now too. And to be clear, i have zero problems with motors or pedals but it is without question an advantage over pedaling. Just ask any Hobie owner who makes the best kayak on the market....
  17. I love high water like that on lakes I fish. The bass move up super shallow to feed on al the stuff that they normally don't see. I have had some of my best days in those conditions. One day last summer I caught 16 fish and 3 were citation size here in VA. All were caught in a foot of water or less.
  18. The exception doesn't make the rule Since the advent of fishing specific kayaks i have never seen a person who fishes out of a racing kayak. That being said, he must be pretty slow because a racing kayak should go way faster than that. I can paddle my ATAK 140 which is a barge comparatively speaking, and maintain 4mph pretty easily.
  19. Quality of the angler is always important but at the same time propulsion that isn’t a paddle is faster, more efficient snd saves energy. At the end of the day that matters.
  20. I hav no problem with motors, hell i would like one on my ATAK for one particular lake I fish and to do solo river shuttle runs. Problem is no matter how many there are, they are at a distinct advantage over paddles. There is no way a person with a paddle can compete o na larger lake with someone with a motor or pedals. Sure there will be people who win tournaments against those guys but that is the exception not the norm.
  21. It was 80 yesterday and we got a ton of rain. Slightly cloudy today temps topped out in the high 60s and windy with 15mph steady and gusts over 40. I went out and did quite well.
  22. Maybe but i'd bet they re cheaper than losing lots of baits. I honestly can't remember the last time I lost one in the river
  23. Get a dragging head from confidence baits. They don't get snagged often at all and have become one of my go to rigs for rivers and bottom baits. http://confidencebaits.3dcartstores.com/Draggin-Head_c_11.html
  24. i would venture a guess that spool machining is cheaper on higher capacity spools as less material is used.
  25. tying a knot doesn't take that long. I only use snaps on crank baits that i removed the split ring.
