  1. Revenge or Northstar.
  2. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was only referring the elite tech line up.
  3. You may not want to hear this but among every nrx user that I have spoke to the 893 is the gem of the series and happens to fish the baits and weight classes perfectly. Your height shouldn't matter and unless you have limited room for back casts the 893 is the rod you want.
  4. You wont find a good swimbait rod in the series. For cranks and reaction baits there would be a couple choices as well as bottom contact apps. Again you wont find any really powerful rods in the series for bigger jigs and heavy Texas rigs.

  6. Were you looking at casting or spinning and for what techniques. I have a few discontinued fenwick rods and a few of the elite tech rods. I wont comment on the discontinued rods since you can't find them anymore. As far the elite tech series goes keep in mind fenwick built the rod line for species specific presentations. The smallmouth series and trout seriesfor example, aren't going to be the beefy powerhouse kind of rods that you would venture to Falcon lakes timber or Okeechobees heavy mats with ... at least for me personally. Most of the rods will surely fit your criteria of being light weight. The 6'9 ML spinning rod for sample is in the 3.? Ounce class. As far as power goes it is there but the rod line was built for smaller baits and more of the under a 1/2. Another strong point of the rod line is the lifetime warranty and above average sensitivity for a rod that retails for $129ish. I have been using their rods dating back to the mid 90s and the elite tech series rods since last summer. For what you pay for the rod it is hard to find much to complain about.
  7. Excellent post smalljaw! I would 100% agree with the above.
  8. Looks like another great product. Will be trying some in the near future. Appreciate the rigging idea photos as well!
  9. I believe it is around 1/4 oz or so maybe a touch more when you factor in the weight of the hook.
  10. I usually fish siebert, northstar and dirty jigs 3/8 - 1/2 oz flip/swim jigs. Occasionally I will fish the finesse original swim jigs in 1/4 or 3/8 ounces. I have tossed them on Loomis IMX 844, a DX 703, a Cumara 7'2 medium xf and now a megabass exreme mission type f. For the waters I fish and how I fish them I would say extreme mission type f takes the cake. It just has that certain something to it that it is hard to explain. I can honestly say the rod can handle the 3/8 range as well as the 3/4 oz range. Larger RI dippers, swing impacts, and big hammers paired with 1/2 oz flip/swim style jigs has been stellar on this rod. It also doubles as a nice deep water jig rod. If I was using 1/4 and 3/8 oz the 7'2 xf cumara would be top choice. Sensitivity of all 3 is very good as well. The best advice would be finding the right rod to fish the baits in your range plus trailer.
  11. I guess my specific three outfits for use in the spring or fall would be : 1. Dobyns champion extreme 703 / curado 50e 2. Cumara spinning 7'2 medium xf drop shot rod / stradic 2500fj 3. Cumulus casting 6'10 medium heavy / core 50mg7 During the summer it would be the following: 1. Dobyns champion extreme 703 / curado 50e 2. Cumara casting 7'2 medium heavy xf / chronarch 50e 3. Dobyns 705 CB with a TDZ I would beef up the gear during the summer as the cover becomes thicker and the baits i used increase in size. During the cold water times I am down sizing and working more finesse apps. Of course I would feel comfortable with 10-15 outfits for a longer outing or new waters but if I am going to scale down to three this would be best for the waters I fish and allow me the most versatility. I may have a few spare reels with mono and braid to compliment the floro I use for 90% of my fishing if I could fit them with me in a bag.
  12. I would think so if you could pull it off. So I would say an assuring yes to both. Keep up the good work Mike!
  13. Specifically if I was limited to only 3 I would take the following rods. Also keep in mind that don't fish reaction baits too often so this I how I would roll... 1. Going to start with a 2 powered rod. Drop shot, flickshake, tubes, shakeyheads, and weighltess plastics. 2. A 3 powered rod. This would handle light Texas rigs, bigger weightless plastics, light jigs, spinnerbaits, traps, small to medium size cranks and topwaters. 3. Either a 4 or 5 powered rod. This rod would handle bigger jigs, Texas rigs, paddle tail swimjigs, frogs, and heavy cover fishing. *The two powered rod could be casting or spinning depending upon preference.
  14. Thanks for the update. Can't wait to hear what combination of upgrades you like best.
  15. Siebert has the best customer service of any major jig manufacturer I have found. 90% of the jigs I use are northstar and siebert. I also like dirty jigs and revenge swim jigs. Wire tired and paint durability are major factors for me.
  16. Tatsu is best fished as main line and not a leader with braid unless you already have tatsu on hand from a cost/efficiency standpoint. I would just use invisix as a leader in that case. It is a great line and in my top 3 for floro lines.
  17. Some nice gear hooked on bass and the hooligan!
  18. You wont be dissapointed in that spool. I know a few guys that use them and the performance gain was worth it.
  19. Somewhere around 24 combined spinning and casting outfits. Individual rod and reel prices from $80-$500. Some are general purpose but most are very technique specific and may see less than 8 hours of use a year.
  20. Nice posts in here skeletor! Sounds like someone made it through a few science classes.
  21. Fantastic. I have 50 jigs on the way that will be needing trailers. May have to try a few. Can't wait for hard candy and some other new colors. Hopefully a bamabug, Okeechobee craw, and honey candy if possible. Thanks for the work with innovation and product design. I haven't fished a product of yours that I didn't like. Keep up the good work!
  22. I would second the folks that mentioned Trilene XL and suffix siege. I have both rigged up right now. I prefer 10-12# as I typically fish these baits on "edges" of rip rap, weed lines, points, and over submerged islands. Seems to do well with pop and walking style topwater baits.
  23. Before floro and braid came along all we basically had was mono for everything. Still caught plenty of fish. Like any other line in the market it has its time and place.
