Other Balsa Baits
Cool, thanks. Nothing on Ebay for Wally G Baits. The Wally G website picks are small on my computer, so I can't get a good look at them. What makes them so good, and worth $20+? Are they more durable than bagleys? Some of my newer ones are taking a real beating lately...

Tomorrow Morning: Pond Fishing: Help
I dunno where you are, but fall is just settling in here. I'm in NoVa and we've had 3 cool days in a row, after about two weeks of 80+ degrees, and today I am going to use some Zoom Jerkbaits, Colorado Bladed spinnerbaits, and square-lipped cranks. If these faster baits don't do it for me, I'm gonna throw a weightless trick worm into heavy cover and along the reed line.

Lucky Craft.
I have one, but for me the dumb little chug bug by storm outfishes the gunfish. There's no question that the LC Gunfish is a sharp looking bait, but in this case I think you are just as well served to get a Chug Bug.

Favorite bait to fish and most productive bait....
Most productive bait is a green and white terminator spinnerbait, with tandem colorado blades. Favorite bait to fish is the Megabass Cyclone Crankbait, it is sort of a brownish color with pearl sides. When the crankbait bite is on, I love throwing this bait. Runner up is a big fat Bagley shallow running, square lipped wake bait.

Other Balsa Baits
I was thinking about trying it, but dunno if I am that artistic... I looked at a bunch of yours in the Tackle Making section, they are Grade A paint jobs. How long did it take you to perfect your technique?

Other Balsa Baits
Cool, thanks for the list! Eventually I want to make my own, even with those I can't find certain color combos that I want.

Lookijng for a good Spray Scent
I hardly ever use scent, unless it is already baked in, like powerbait, yum or whatever. The spray-on or smear-on stuff always manages to spill where I don't need it spilled, like my car, or my garage floor, my kids, etc. One thing I have tried a couple of times is catching a bluegill, cutting it up, and tossing it in a bucket with a little bit of water in it, then letting it sit in the sun with a jig, buzzbait, spinnerbait, and/or worm soaking in it. It has never hurt my fishing, and might've helped, but I don't try it enough to know for sure. Then just dump the bucket out at the end of the day, and feed the catfish...

Other Balsa Baits
When I want to fish a balsa crankbait, I use (and collect) Bagley and Rapala baits, exclusively. More and more I am seeing newer manufacturers get into making nice collectible and fishable cranks. Lee Sisson (hardly a new name) has a line of baits out, Rick Clunn has the 'Awesome Thundershad', and there are no-balsa (cedar) baits like Poe's. Do any of these baits hold a candle to Bagley's quality and collectibility, or Rapala's sturdiness and ease of fishing them? Any other suggestions for balsa baits?

AWESOME GAMBLER SWIM BLADE Liquidation Sale
No prob... I like the colors on the swimblades, but haven't tried them yet. The blade material seems flimsy... The plastics though are Super! I love the Big Stick, and the Ace, their version of the senko. Both quality baits.

Favorite?
Black and Red Buzzbait.

Quality vs Quantity
I just get one of everything. And Five of everything that works. My most productive baits are the cheap ol bandit 100s, and riverside/Yum rejects...But I'm directly related to the bait monkey, and I love collecting rare lures, Bagley, Megabass, and Rapala lures, old ones, new ones, whatever. I don't use the more expensive baits as much, but I do use them, and they produce. I have considered mounting some baits in wall plaques, but haven't gone that far...yet... Either way, I figure it is my hobby, it makes me happy, and it is more satisfying to me to know that one day my son will inherit my fishing collection, rather than a cold bank account that the government gets a chunk of.

how to fish a lake fork live magic shad?
Wal-mart has them, they're like 2.50 each. What sucks about them, is the leadhead stretches and tears the bait all out of shape. Once you catch a fish, good luck using the bait again.

Gambler Big Stick, Giggy Stick, and Giggy Lizard
Anyone try these? They are kind of a combo between a straight worm, a tube. The head of the worm is solid, the middle to end is a tube, and it's about 7 inches long. The lizard version has a small stylized head and for tiny legs. The bait looks very cool, and I just ordered a bunch from the website... Anyone tried them? I'm gonna get them nice and wet this weekend, but wanted a quick report on ya'lls findings.

Fish do slam these. All I can find where I am is the pre-rigged version. I just swim them at varying speeds till they gulp it down.

What's Working For You Right Now?
3 Baits working very well for me right now in NoVA Zoom Jerkbait in shad color, Bagley B2 and Diving B2 in Brown/Yellow Craw Green and White Terminator Spinnerbait, colorado tandem blades. My buddy is catching them on an Owner/Cultiva Rippin' Minnow, but they don't work so hot for me. He is also using a Horny Toad with some success fishing it deeper.

Fish Hedz
Are they very expensive?

My favorite two colors are Green Pepper Shad and Brown Pepper Shad. I have Green Pumpkin Pearl Swirl, but have not tried it yet, since the other two have worked so well for me.
