  1. I tend to go with braid but I do have some real small poppers I throw on mono. Before you blow cash on a spool of fluoro I'd say try it with a fluoro leader and see if you like the results.
  2. Got it in today. Here are my first impressions. Not as good as the accurist model. Handle knobs are curved for right hand grip on lefty reel. Feels a little awkward. They also have a cheap feel to them. Reel is as smooth as your gonna get for $50. It feels solid. I don't care about a ounce here or there like some so to me it's not a big deal but it does feel heftier for a 100 size. Has flipping switch which I didn't realize upon purchasing. This could be useful. Ummmm I don't what else to say without actually using it.... star drag handle feels like cheap plastic.... lol to me this would be a great entry level reel or just a spare beater reel. I have gained confidence in Quantums products which says a lot coming from a shimano die hard and I haven't even fished their top shelf stuff. ...M verdict good bang for the buck in the price range.
  3. I would get 2 Chronarchs and a 13 rod for $500. just my $0.02 but I wouldn't pay that much for 1 reel for freshwater, salt on the other hand I would.... you said justify, I can't but if you can drop that type of coin on a finesse reel more power to you! .... second thought if finesse is YOUR THING go for it. Crank baits are my thing so I invested more in that set up.
  4. Just got my baby back from Shimano. They did a excellent job! My crank reel has never been smoother.
  5. I'm not gonna B S any of you but the accurist line is rock solid for the money. The spinning and baitcasting.
  6. Thanks guys. He said F it waiting on my response via you guys and bought the mgx extreme. Smfh!!
  7. Congrats!! Welcome to the shimano family.
  8. My cousin just texted me the following: what's the 100 difference between these 2? The premier looks like it has 1 additional cosmetic feature and all the specs look the same. Am I missing somethin???? --- any of Abu guys can you throw me info for him. Idk these reels
  9. My tackle bag has 4 3700 size storage units. 1 for spinner baits, 1 for medium and shallow cranks, 1 for deep diving cranks and 1 for swimbaits and jigs. Then 2 small ones for terminal tackle. I then use the little Bass bag bass masters sends you for your membership for all my soft plastics. Also my main bag has compartments for my scale pliers etc. Pretty easy and simple set up for me. Also for advice as I am new to tournament fishing myself, some of the boaters get ticked off when the non boater brings too much stuff on board.
  10. Lmao I ordered the lefty the other day. I had gotten the accurist one with memorial day sale for 65 with a reel cover. Called back to order another and they wouldn't match the sale price again so ordered the antix. I tried out dicks version called escalade and it seems like a decent reel. It's not a chronarch by any means but for 50 I don't think you can go wrong. ... so ill be guinea pig let you guys know what the deal is when it comes in this week.
  11. Just noticed something ray bans the amber color is on the outside of the lens and the inside is multi purple blue etc. The spiders are vice versa. What's the advantage or disadvantage of this? ... and @ Marty these side wire ones say 100% Uva uvb protection.
  12. So I stopped at Walmart they didn't have strike king only Berkeley and spider wire for 15 a pair. I grabbed a Grey lens and amber of spider wire. $30.... cool to have spares for the just in case situation anyways. Walmart website said in store only for the strike kings so make sure u call before u waste a trip FYI. I plan on getting a pair of costas at some point. Any how these cheap ones seem decent.
  13. To my knowledge those bionic blades only come with micro guides depending on your preference that may be a deal breaker. Seem like great rods for the price there for you can upgrade multiple setups at once on a budget.
  14. Walmart sells them! Gonna swing by there later. Feel like an a s s that I dropped $100 on these.
  15. So lost my only pair of polarized glasses which weren't that good anyways. So me and the misses were at the mall and I grabbed a new pair. My question is here in CT green pumpkin is ideal bait color for the dirty and stained water so is amber or brown a good color lens? Couldn't find Grey or blue in my price range for a good pair. I know green is based on amber and is considered great but couldn't find any. I ended up with brown tinted lens set of ray bans that were on clearance. No one around here sells costas that I could find and the Oakleys were too much and felt cheap.
  16. I grabbed a 6 something M/F for jerkbaits. It's definitely a weird tod to get used to. It's super stiff for the cast but when I whip for the retrieve it has a great flex. Haven't caught a fish on it yet but I'm assuming when I go to whip it back it will set the trebles without a problem. I would like to try a *** around 7 mh for spinnerbaits.
  17. What John said +1 lol
  18. Daiwa aird bright orange. Not bad at all for $50
  19. Also forgot to say congrats on joining the BR family
  20. Were using: 6000D 15# spider ultimate mono, 8000D 20# Big Game, 6500(2) 17# Big Game and 20# hiviz Stren, 4500B 10# Trilene XT. I included my surf fishing buddies reels so you get the idea. I wouldn't use braid on bait runners had problems on older models from braid use. Say you have a 25# striper running you then crank to disengage bait runner, there's a instant power transfer to the bail then you set the hook. You need a little stretch. The braid is gonna be way to stiff. If you must use braid I'd say go way lighter on line rest. Like I said in other post if you use circle hooks on say a chunk of bunker your reel us setting the hook not the rod.
  21. Now it's listed as used Smfh
