  1. @ bass1980 13 looks good I like trying new brands. What is their warranty like?
  2. Hey btw I own a cumara as well as a clarus. To me I couldn't tell a difference between clarus compre and crucial. Cumara is in a league of its own. The clarus is my dedicated spinnerbait rod and I loveeeee it!
  3. Sup guys thanks for all the input. I was under assumption the ideal rod for jerks would be a medium moderate yet everyone seems to say medium fast. If that's the case I may try throwing some on my 6' medium fast premier hut its a spinning rod. Kind of wanted a baitcasting. Also tackle warehouse has a Powell rod that's exclusive to tw but it's 160 and no discount on that for me. I have a reels covered. Also anyone prefer a glass rod over graphite for jerks.
  4. As the title says.. . Was looking at Powells diesel 705 glass rod but skeptic on the zero warranty. I don't want to spend crazy as I don't throw jerkbaits enough. Thanks in advance. I also get a discount through Powell direct but with the shipping cost of $20 it may not be worth it so any brand is recommended is cool.
  5. Correction I ordered E series Curado. Wouldn't let me edit?
  6. So, I have 2 newer E model chronarchs was planning on a 3rd. I was also playing with the idea of grabbing a Lexa 100 and stay in that price range when I came across a review of the E model Curados. I found a R model on Amazon for $135 shipped so I spontaneously ordered it. Lol I heard the older ones are very comparable to the Chronarchs and that the newer G line of Curados are a downgrade... did I make a good choice? Also regarding the Lexa series I've read there is a slight knock in the handles that the washer under the rubber doesn't lock down far enough. I experience that with one one of my Penn reels for saltwater and HATE It! It's so annoying! Does any? Actually experience that? It does seem like a reel I would like to own if I catch a good deal on it.... Cheers
  7. So I got the replacement spool in today and some cheap trout grub/lures. Def not comparable in price to the Strike King Spinnerbaits I lost. Better than nothing tho, most companies wouldn't even replace the bad product. However I am loving the siege for the time being.
  8. I have a Dobyns Champ for crankbaits, I love it. I also have rods less than half of that I love as well. Whatever works for you.
  9. Cool, thanks for input. It feels heavier than a MF. Not sure what I'll be throing with it yet.
  10. Ran to Cabelas today for their ammo shipment (5.56 has been very scarce smh) and left with a Fenwick Silver Hawk 7' MH. They had them on sale for $60. Feels like a good rod, do any of you guys own these? If so what's your take on them?
  11. @grantman83 holy ish! Glad I use seaguar fluoro! I wrote spider on their site last night and complained. They responded they're sending me some new line and lures. Gonna send them in a sample portion as well. I like spider a lot I would rather stand behind a company and help them rather than abandon ship. Hope they fix any problems that exist. In the meantime still going to give Sufix its fair shot.
  12. I know a guy who wins tournaments with only 1 setup, a $20 rod/reel combo, walmart special.
  13. Yea I wanted the black one but my local shop didn't have it only the green one. I caught a 2# LMB today, handled real nice. I actually ran to the store re spooled then right back to the lake. Lol I had issues with tangle with Stren on a saltwater setup, casted nice but not worth the hassle. I opted for siege over elite for the abrasion resistence. And yes this will be dedicated for spinnerbaits. Thanks for responses fellas!
  14. Some of you may know when it comes to mono, I'm a die hard Spider Wire fan. Near zero stretch, 6# test is more like 10#, barely any memory. Well today with 12#, numerous casts broke causing me to lose 50ft +/- of line per cast and a few good lures. I check the line periodically for nicks and fray, as well as this being a brand new spool. Anyhow... I stopped to pick up some more line grabbed another spool of the Spider this time Ultimate not EZ, and a spool of Sufix Siege 14#. I tried Siege once before that came on a reel I bought used and didn't like it, immediately replaced it after a couple casts. Any how giving it a second chance brand new out the box. I am so ticked at the bad spool of Spider and the $25 in lost lures, that if all goes well with the Siege I may convert to the darkside for my spinnerbait line. *note: I typically use 6# Spider for everything and have never had a problem EVER in the past decade of using it. Feel free to throw in your stories of Sufix.
  15. Lol @TNbassin - Used setup today for a few hours, didn't catch anything but felt real good casting and retrieving. I definitely like this setup far more than I thought I would!
  16. Fresh and Salt Spider Wire mono 6# 12# 20# Trilene Big Game 25# and +
  17. Put 200+ casts on my new Shimano Clarus last night, love it! I think I paid $80 for it. Have it paired with a Chronarch.
  18. If you could snag a older Symetre grab it. Its a great reel under $100. My buddies tackle shop has the older ones in stock PM me if your interested I could pick 1 up and ship it, work it out through paypal.
  19. So a few weeks ago I posted Cabelas had Quantum Accurist spinning rods on sale from $69.99 for $19.99 me and my buddy grabbed 1 each for the hell of it. Last night I saw on Dicks website the Accurist reels on sale from $79.99 for $49.97. So tonight I ran to Dicks and picked up 2, 1 for me and 1 for my buddy. My 1st time buying something other than Shimano for freshwater. (I have Shimanos and Penns for Salt) Any how I needed a light lure 1/16-1/8oz setup. Light cranks, jerks etc. I gotta say I am fairly impressed with the construction, performance and over all quality of the this set up. For the fact it cost me $70, I can easily compare this to my ST Croix premier Shimano Sonora (top water setup). I haven't fished it yet as I've just picked up the reel tonight, although I did spool it up with 6# Spider mono. Rod feels well balanced, good quality cork, and I'd say Mod/Fast action seems appropriate while still having a solid backbone 2/3rds the way up. The reel is smooth, doesn't spin forever like my Stradic CI4 but then again its not a $200 reel. All in all I'm impressed and I'm looking forward to fishing this. I'm a die hard Shimano guy BUT I do not knock other brands except Okuma because I had terrible luck with 2 of their salt reels. Rods, I have numerous brands in my collection, I'm not picky at all, a good rod to me is just that, a good rod. With spring upon us, I'm sure there's some younger anglers checking out the forum for advice on a new or 1st set up with out breaking the bank. I hope my $0.02 helps. - Cheers
  20. @Hanover thanks for info I may end up picking up another one of these for another application.
  21. I have a 6 M/F spinning, its my 'just bringing one rod with me today to the local lake' rod. Lol Have 2 shimano 2500's I throw on it. Love it!
  22. Here opening day is 3rd weekend of April for waterbodys with trout.
  23. No one local has the new Cumaras. Hit a few more places today. Tried out the Clarus this morning with the Chronarch. Gotta say I'm impressed. Its the cheapest rod I have for personal use. (Have cheaper stuff for friends to use.) I gotta say I like it. You guys running the spinnerbait clarus, what # line you throwing? On a side note today was my first day out this year. Nailed a 3 pounder on my first cast (cumara/stradic/blackworm) then didn't catch nothing for another 150 casts. Caught a 1 pounder then left.
  24. I have the last model Cumara ML 7'2 for finese paired with a Stradic CI4, loveeeeee it! If I were to have gotten the new Cumara for SB I would have prob splurged for the Core as well. Lol Thanks for the heads up guys. Wish everyone a good season! Just got my 1st tourney schedule so this year should be interesting.
