  1. I use Light or Ultra Light, max length 5'6" with 4-6# test and a 1000 size reel. Throw some 1/8 mepps and you have yourself a winning setup. I have a few different rods but my go to has been a Berkley Cherrywood. Was like $30 a long long time ago. I absolutely love the rod. I don't know if you would call it a moderate action but it bends all the way down to the foregrip. St Croix makes a Premier 5' Light rod that's under $100 at my local shops.
  2. Lmao I'm prob more of a die hard Shimano fan than LMG. There's like 5 reels I feel I must own. Kinda broke now with christmas here but next year definitely want to experiment. Zillion Revo Premier Core Ghost Lews Super speed or speed spool whatever. I don't alienate brands unless I've had utterly horendous experiences with them. Such as GM, Best Buy, Microsoft lol etc lol lol
  3. The sportsman thing to do is use 2-4# line for 2-4# fish. With that being said the guys above do the same as me, test the drag pulling by hand. Purpose is to prevent your line from breaking or rod in some cases. I've only relied on my drag to tire out fish in excess of 15#s. Or the odd moment of using ultra light tackle in brackish water fishing for trout and catching 20# striped bass. Lol
  4. Lol anytime, your welcome! I believe you'll like it.
  5. I believe in Spider so much, DM me ur address, mail me your spool and I'll fill it and send it back. If you dont like it reverse it to a empty spool and send it back. Cost will be less than a buck for shipping.
  6. Telling you for a hair away from 0% stretch in a mono - Spider wire EZ mono! Ultimate is pretty much same thing just avail in different sizes, colors, spool sizes, also more expensive.
  7. Someone post link of video above, nothings showing from my phone and my cpu is packed (moving). @ Bassclary - I will have a zillion by summer! That reel feels like a tank. Love it. In general I have nothing against any reel brand except I think Okuma is complete s#!t. Wasn't trying to start a flame war either just want to see professional comparisons between these 2 brands.
  8. Stopped by my buddies shop, it def wasn't ultra soft he doesn't carry it. Just a very plain label that says yozuri hybrid. I can't wait to try out abrasx and invisx ordered both fluoros last week should be here monday.
  9. Pretty much hands down it seems like the Curado is the biggest selling reel in FW history, with that said your also paying for the name. Abus similiar reels have twice as many bearings and bells and whistles. Would be interesting to see how they compete. Also guys who do shootouts usually go way more in detail then the average angler.
  10. Ahhh your killin me!!! That is a good price. Thanks for info bro! Def will hit u up.
  11. Looking for some reviews/shootouts between the 2 brands from non-fanboys lol. If anyone has any links please post. Thanks in advance!
  12. @webertime Your suggesting throwing tubes on same rod I dropshot with? Only prob I see doing that is my drop shot rod is a ML. :/ and I'm in the market for a MH spinnerbait set up. Will prob end up another dobyns chronarch combo. - where in CT are you?
  13. Had it on my CI4 on a 6' M/F St Croix Premier throwing worms and spinners. Was prob the worst fishing trip Ive ever had. Only reason I bought it was because of the rave reviews and I like to try new stuff out all the time. Also I love yozuris SW lures so I'm def not being a brand *****.lol
  14. Also would like to say I've tried Yozuris line on a spinning reel and I hated it, very stiff, limited casting distance, tons of memory, polymers knots would break when cinching down, ended up using trilene knot. You could do 200 casts and it will always look like a slinky across the top of the water. Never again. Lol Before I get bashed maybe I had a bad spool but that 1 bad spool was bad enough to turn me away for good.
  15. I'm prob the only guy on the forum that swears by this but I suggest try Spider Wire EZ or Ultimate mono. I've been running 6# since they came out and love it. Its my go to mono for all freshwater. You can sometimes snag it up at Kmart or Walmart for $6-7 a 220 yard spool. Almost zero stretch, great abrasion resistance and casts a mile. I like the low vis green color for the lakes around here. Also I have never had a bad spool before, I've had bad spools with all of Berkleys stuff over the years, XL XT Big Game etc. Nevr with Spider.
  16. Never done that technique before. Really only started throwing tubes/jigs this year. No real luck with em either. I typically use lipless and lipped cranks/rattletraps, spinner baits, inline spinners, worms, frogs.
  17. I fish regularly just about all the lakes they have the tournaments at. Yea CT is correct.
  18. Actually just looked up that leader roll thing that would be AWESOME for my saltwater box! Thanks for the info didn't think they made something like that. Pretty much any saltwater trip I'm chunking or live bait I do my leaders night before and have been using corks for the past decade lol
  19. Scale check, weigh bag check, I don't run leaders so check N/A, will look into bac rac that seems like a cool idea, now what's the culling tags for, to tell who's fish is who's?
  20. Good question, my bro just got me the 7'2 a few weeks back. I hope it would be new model since it is an over counter warranty system.
  21. N/A - Joined club today. Thanks
  22. Thanks for info guys, gonna work on getting #4 and prob leave it at that for this year. Just got a call today, I landed a spot in a club! So I'm happy.
