  1. Dang !! That's a tough one to answer for me.. I've got about 4 or so confidence lures... 1) Creme 4 inch worm (purple or black), t-rigged.. 2) Roostertails!!! ;D 3) Storm hopper popper 4) Gary Yamamoto 4 inch worm t-rigged, with no weight.. 5 ) Rebel cricket hopper That's about it for me, and yes they are all for ultra light fishing(on a 7 ft rod with a stradic reel) .. ;D
  2. Home made stink baits work great if you can stomach the smell.... PM me if you'd like my version of my great uncle's recipe....
  3. LOL Well it looks like we may have to do some bartering MskSlyr on where this place is and you coming up and playing on Pa., lakes, for muskies... Besides I've never had the pleasure of catching a walleye, I've had my fun with muskies on my (as Basser grumbles) ultra light rig, on more than one or 2 occasions.. I'd be wanting the walleyes mainly.. I've heard they're right up there with crappie (on the taste)...

Yep that'd be them... If memory serves me( and it usuallyu doesn't do it too well), They're a might bit toothy if you know what I mean, and you can wind up with a few stitches if you try to lip'em.. Something about having a few rows of teeth instead of one, but not sure if I'm right on that...
  5. If you use them, be sure NOT to dump the ones you don't use in the water.. I've seen in a couple of lakes in Md, where they became a nuisance rather quickly.. So take them with you when you're... No need to screw up someone's fishing hole with a dang weed eating carp > !!!
  6. WTG Basser!!! You'll have to show me how to get to that spot you texted me about one weekend.. I'm also glad you weren't greedy about the muskies ;D... Tux
  7. What no top water on blue bird days ?!?!? Why not ??? I've had a few good days with topwater on the blueburd days, but that was just my experience, and I was able to see schools of baitfish jumping and what not... Just my 2 cents...
  8. Yea I think that was what they called them... Thanks for the info
  9. I've seen a few of those rope lures.. They're cool, and you don't hurt the fish... I was down in SC visiting family a few years back and they took me to Santee-Cooper for a few hours fishing.. Those gar in there were about 2 hours past being scary .. I mean to tell ya!! There 2 I remember that had to be over 5 feet long and that wasn't counting the bill !! My one cousin was saying they were one of the nuisance fish for when panfishing, as they'd hanng around and rip thru a school if they were around a boat, or near shore and wind up getting hooked, or snagged and wind up spooling a few folks.. Are they one's you all catch a different strain ?? The one's I saw were all dark...
  10. Looks like you did pretty dang good on those walleye.. WTG!! That's one of a few fish I've never had the pleasure of hooking or eating.. Enjoy them !! Btw, looks like your li'l man's pretty proud of his dad !!
  11. Well I went to cabelas today and they helped me pick out one the auto inflating types and showed me how adjust, and arm it before I left... When I got home and showed my fiance, I got a kiss, and hug.. She was now relieved and wouldn't worry as much provided I wear it, Which I will.. To take from the treestand safety guys, "If nothing else, do it for your loved ones!!".. Tux
  12. Well it shouldn't matter if you're in a boat or not, even if wading you should have one on.. As the case in point with the kid I saw this weekend who stepped into a hole.. Safety is NOT just for the folks in a boat it should also be for folks wading, because you never know when you might step into a hole or maybe be standing on a ledge of shale and it give way under your feet.. When that happens the first thing you'll want to do is gasp out of pure shock or surprise.. Atleast with the pfd on that possible deploys on its own, you have one less thing to worry about... Even the pro's, as well as the guys on the fishing shows don't wear them except when driving their boat, and its connected to the kill switch in case of an accident and they get tossed out the boat... There should be more promoting of this just as they do with hunter treestand safety.. Just my .02 cents worth, but I think its a valid point...
  13. I have a feeling this may get moved(I hope not), but I feel this is the right place to ask this... What type of pfd's are you wearing or using in your boat or while wading ?? I'm asking this because of a number of reasons after this past weekend.. 1 being that while out with my best friend in Md, we saw this kid while wading step into this hole and went from being in mid-thigh depth to being up neck, and yes he freaked, which I would've done as well.. Luckily the current was strong enough to push him back to the shallow area.. No he had no pfd on and later found out he couldn't swim.. 2 is I've read quite a few articles about wading and only a handful speak about wearing a pfd of some sort for safety.. 3 My best friends dart throwing partner got 100 buck fine for being out on the water without pfd's in his boat.. And my final reason being that in just about all the pics I've seen of folks on here no one is wearing a pfd... Now I'm guilty of this as well and will be fixing that this friday, by going out and buying one newer models as peace of mind to my sweety, and myself that I get back safe.. As someone once told me, "you never know when fate might pull the trigger".. What I'm trying to say while on this soapbox is be safe, and keep your loved ones safe, so that it's not turned into a bad day on the water.. Yea some of the old one's are hot and bulky, and some of us are great swimmers, but being a great swimmer don't mean DIDDLY if you kiss a rock or something else and get knocked out... Let's all try and turn up the safety just a little more and make the season one of the best and safest... Best of luck and safe outings.. Tux
  14. Nice looking bass ... What was with its eye?? Looked like it was blind in the one eye in your last pic.. Congrats!!
  15. I wish to God i knew what your saying, but my name is the only thing Greek about me. Born and raised a Kentucky boy... If a bud of mine's translation is correct, it's nice fish, and that it is !! WTG !!
  16. I can honestly say that my fiance has given it a number of tries and still will go on a rare occasion .. I enjoy her company and yes I still have the quiet times when I wanna spend some quiet time on the water... I'd say I got pretty lucky in us finding each other...
  17. OMG !! I have those !! I just couldn't remember what they look like :-[.... Never had much luck with them here where I live but keep them handy anyway... I've always had better luck with the snap beans by yozuri ... Tux
  18. Someone wanna post a pic of this tadfry ?? I'm curious... :-? Tux
  19. I'm not exactly sure as to what a tadfry is, but 8-10 lb test should be fine for ultra light depending on the size of the lure... Some folks consider anything below 1/4 oz to be ultra light... I use lures in the 1/6th and lower range as ultra light lures... Best of luck to you !! Tux
  20. I posted this question in the general bass area but I'll ask here as well... Anyone ever try c-rigs on rivers?? If so, how did you fare with it, and what'd you have to do different ?? Thanks Tux
  21. Hey folks, Has anyone ever tried c-rigs on the river ?? If yes, how'd you fare, and is the technique the the same as on lakes ?? Thanks Tux
  22. With certain lures you can do a countdown method to get an idea of the depth, but if you can pick up a topo map ... Rapala used to have thing with their countdown lure, that with a certain line test the bait would sink a foot per sec... I know for me when I fish ultra light(90% of the time), if I fish with a 1/16th oz roostertail on 4 or 6 lb test that it sinks about a foot per second, so when it hits the water I start my count(one-one thousand, 2-one thousand, etc..) If you can experiment with lures and line in a bucket or pool to get an idea... Hope it helps...
  23. That sounds like a good idea, using a football jighead.. I say give a try.. Usually when I get stuck against something, I'll tug as you did to try and stand it up, if that doesn't work then I try and hop it over using the rod to lift it, while still holding onto the line in my fingers.. It sounds tricky to some but it's not really... You can either grip the line to the rod while lifting or reel up some of your slack, and curl your fingers around the line and raise the rod(sorta how they do in pitching I think), and lift the bait over the object.. Experiment with a lot, I've tried it with c-rigs with pretty good luck, and I've also done it with small crappie style jigging tube baits.. I've played with floating worms a few times but don't think I had a good color for imitating a minnow to get any takers, but feel free to try different set ups with it...
  24. It's definitely the easiest way to learn to worm fish... Two years before I read that article in fishing facts, I was trying my dangedest(sp) to learn to work a worm, watched the tv shows, went to a few seminars, and even asked a few guys at the lake.. It just wasn't sinking in :'(, I had 2 or 3 tacklebags of worms of all different shapes and sizes, thinking maybe it was just that worm was thet problem.. Not 3 days after reading that article I had caught my first bass on a worm, it was about a pound or more, but I was jumping for joy !! I went home and dug out those bags and started stitchin like crazy lol !! It took me about 3 or so more years before I got the hang of working a worm with a rod.. Thanks to a kindly old gentleman who took the time to teach me, in exchange for bottle of water and half a ham sandwich... If I can find the article and get my scanner working I'll see if I can post it... Best of luck to you all !!
  25. Hey it's all good !! The main thing is we're all out doing what we love !! Right ??
