Shooting at Holey lands.
I'm happy to say that two careless shooters were finally caught in the killing of the HL fisherman.

Good big fish day
Great bass, especially as far north as your fishing. Congrats, and keep going for more, before the big fronts move through.

Getting a monster bass to bite again
About 5 months ago I caught a monster in a 40 acre lake, hardly ever fished because of the location. She was 27", as measured next to my pole. My phone camera which is always with me died, out of juice. This was the biggest bass I've ever caught and I have caught DD before. She was thick, with a huge mouth. I went back everyday for 4 weeks, and nothing close to my big girl. I released her in great shape that day, but she still alludes me. I've tried all types of lures. I now go back once a week until I find my lost love, and take lots of pictures. Then I will release her again, in great shape. She was the fish of a life time.

Best Fishing Magazine?
I have had Bass Master Magazine for over 30 years, and never once did my name pop up for a free gift. I check every month, and never once!!!!!!! Lol They may be fake gifts!

Well, that's new. Eye felt a small, quick resistance, and then...
Over the years I have caught several in the eye ball. The loss of the eye doesn't mean they can't be successful hunters. I have also caught bass that had a missing eye ball from an old injury. If it happens to you, leave the meat on the hook. It gives off sent, and some flavor on the bite.

High Winds
When things are really tough down size and slow way down. When you think its slow, slow down even slower. A senko or zoom U-Vibe in watermelon red in clear water, and black and junebug in dingy water, have saved many a tuff day for me. Keep the wind to your back and you can fish these slow and methodical all day long, without having to use big weights. Slight jerks and long pauses work great for me on tough days. Good luck, we have all faced those tough conditions.

Baitcast abu 5000 vs lower profile baitcast
I have a 5000 that I still use occasionally. They are bullet proof , heavy duty reels, but super heavy for an entire day of casting. The new low profile reels make casting all day so much easier, paired with the proper rod. I still remember Hank Parker using the round abu's much of the time during his tournament days. Still great reels, but like a 1960 big body car, behind the times, but still love to drive once in a while!!!!!

High Winds
I am surrounded by loads of 20 to 80 acre lakes. I have at least 10 of these lakes five minutes from the house, with 360* access. Bank fishing while the wind is howling, I will pick a side of the lake where the wind is to my back. My lakes are full of thick shore weeds, and deep drop-offs, so treble hooks are out of the question. I will fish with the wind at my back. It makes casting real easy, and with Texas Rigged plastics I can fish slow and still have no problem getting through the thick shore weeds. The bait will sink nice without bows in the line, and bite detection is easy as long as your line straight. From the boat I like to keep the wind to my back also. I Use heavier weight, and put out the drift sock which slows the boat drift way down. This also keeps me in stealth mode and off the trolling motor. This has help greatly when the bite is difficult. If the wind is over twenty constant, I stay home, and fish the local lakes from the bank. Bank fishing is a lot easier during stiff wind if you plan for it, before picking a spot. Location is everything!!!!

In a slump
Lol, you missed the whole point. It happens to everyone once in a while, and the member who started the post, should NOT worry about it. End of story!!!!!!!

In a slump
You probably just haven't been fishing long enough. Getting skunked isn't abnormal, never getting skunked is abnormal. If you do it long enough, it will happen. It happens to tour pros, so it will happen to average Joes!!!!!!

You know your old,,,,,,
You know your old when: You you can't trust a fart. You wake up twice to pee at night. You GO to the garage at 10:00PM, and when you get there, you have no clue! Its just wonderful getting old! Lol By the way, I have a 1964 Mitchell 300, my first serious fishing reel.

How far will a senko sink?
Nether braid or mono sink in water like floro, nether braid or mono are invisible under water, and then you have to deal with the knot that passes through your rod guide at the rod tip. Use whatever you want to use, if your happy with it that great, and just stay with it, but most pros have 3 or 4 rods on deck loaded with 100% floro. You just have to get used to it, and learn how to handle it without problems. It takes time, and experience to do that. !00% floro is just so much more sensitive, then connecting to mono. We all have our own preference, that's the American way.

How far will a senko sink?
Line spray like KVD's or any other line conditioner is good, but expensive for what you get. For years and from a suggestion from a member of this site, I now use an electric contact cleaner that is one third the price and every bit just as good. You can get it at Home Depot or Ace Hardware. Good for the line and keeps the reel smooth.

How far will a senko sink?
Floro takes a little more care on the spool when you use it. I spray it before starting the day and after the days over to recondition it. After every cast, before reeling back in, I will take a quick look at the reel to be sure there is no slack on the spool. If there is I will tighten up the slack. This all takes about a second of my time. I have been using this stuff so long I don't even think about it, its all automatic now. You take care of your line, and it will last you a long time.

How far will a senko sink?
I use floro 90% of the time with my plastics. First of all it sinks, its invisible under water, it is super sensitive, It holds up well to abrasion from rock, wood, and weeds, and you can feel the slightest tick of the line from finicky bass. The only down side is its expensive. Not all floro is the same. You will have to try them out until you find the one you like. Trilene 100% professional grade has been my choice for years.

How far will a senko sink?
The answer is: (All the way to the bottom). The only question is how long will it take to get there. That depends on conditions. As a rule, I use the least amount of weight on the line to get the job done, for all baits. This gives fish at all depths a shot at seeing and reacting to the bait on the fall.

In a slump
It happens to a lot of good fisherman this time of year. Slow down with your plastics and fish them painfully slow. Don't panic! The senko, or Zoom u-vibe, fished slow has saved many a day for me, this time of the year.

Can't Catch, Need Help in NJ
The fish you see busting the surface may not be bass at all. In Florida waters you often see fish busting the surface that are mudfish, gar, or catfish that are gulping air in waters that are often low in oxygen. Some freshwater fish have this ability, but not bass. If O2 levels are low, bass will move out of the area quickly. I also agree with Darren that when things get tough, slow way down with your plastics, and then slow down even more.

Best fishing spots in Kansas City area??
If you have not found any spots using Google, then there must not be many around. If that's the case, guys will be reluctant to give out their honey holes. Good luck, but go back to google and check out all tackle shops, parks, ponds, lakes, and streams. Someone is finding fish somewhere.

Uphill, downhill or parallel?
When I'm fishing weed lines, and drop off I like to keep the wind to my back and let it slowly push me along, staying off the trolling motor and in stealth mode. I often put out a drift bag to slow my movement. This has helped me catch fish in silence when they are in a spooky mood. Excellant when conditions are right.

South Florida Bass since Irma
Since Irma the water levels have been way up. Super high in the glades, and bass are places you can't get too until it drops a foot or two, and they move back to fish-able waters. Have not been to Lox since before Irma. Movement on the flats should be good.I did hear that some of the Lox Road ramps are closed because of construction. Fishing has been good on Kis. this weekend. Okeechobee was brutal last weekend on the south side. Nothing else to add. Might go to H/L tomorrow.

What would you do ??
Dirty water, I would start with a rattletrap, crankbait, or if the wind is blowing a colorado blade spinnerbait until you find some fish. When you find them try a zoom fluke.
