  1. I have two Shimano 200 series baitcaster and one 50 series. I like the 50 so much more. To me it just feel perfect in my relatively small hands. Oddly it feels smoother than the 200. I use the 50 series for weightless flukes and occasionally wacky rigged senkos when my spinning setup is used for drop shot. I use my 200 for frogging, spinner baits, swim baits, and anything that needs long cast and extra lines. I recently bought another 200 series for jigs 3/8-1/2oz and usually fish in heavy cover in our natural lakes. Rarely will I fish football jigs in rock bottoms. So my question is can I get away with fishing a 50 series with 50lbs braids in heavy cover pitching 1/2oz jigs? It's not like I'll need line capacity and it'll be easier on my hands. I've heard from many people that the 50 series is meant for finess fishing with small lines like 12lbs mono or under. Are there any difference between the 50 and 200 other than spool size and body profile like stronger or weaker gears? Any input will be great because I have only used my 200 for jigs a few times and didn't like it for its size and have put it on the shelf. Thinking of trading it for a 50 series.
  2. Bass assassin, Tonka is the best lake in the Metro by far. Also the hardest to learn. Meaning one day your hot spot is on fire and the next your skunked out. It is 20 lakes in one lake. One bay water can be crystal clear and the very next bay it'll be brown stained water. Probably the best lake to catch quantities of 4 pounders in a day. May be hard to get a 5+ pounder due to fishing pressure. There's like 5+ tournaments on that lake every week from various clubs. It always seems to produce though from the top bass teams. Good luck at Tonka. Still hoping somebody would share me some wader Smallie spots
  3. It must be just me but I feel like my cranking stick are always being over worked even though the lure rating says otherwise. I understand the concept of a moderate action cranking stick but I just can't seem to accept the feel of it. Example I bought a Phenix X10. Great reviews from everyone and lure rating is 1/4-1.0oz. Yet when I throw 5/8oz if feels like the rod can't handle it. Also when I throw some KVD 5XD cranks. I then decided to just focus on 3/8oz 1.5's and bought a skeet Reese glass rod and did not like the feel of glass. I can see how glass helps not losing fish because I was probably 10 for 10 before I sold it. Rated up to 3/4oz but my 1/2oz cranks felt tok heavy for the rod. Plus couldn't stand looking at that yellow lol. Now I just bought a Gloomis GL2 7MH 845cbr and lure rating is the same as the Phenix at 1/4-1.0oz. I was hoping it was different but it feels very similar. I feel like 3/8-1/2oz is where I want to be at on this rod. 5/8oz is too much already. I don't crank enough to justify buying one rod for my 3/8ths and one for my 5xd. I would love to just keep the GL2 but feel like I need to get rid of all my 5/8ths cranks. Anyone else feel the same? Or please tell me its just me and maybe after enough convincing I can force myself to like it lol.
  4. I have two 201E7 and one 51E6 and they are nice reels. I like the 50 series so much better. Supposed to be basically a smaller reel of the 200 but it feels so much smoother than the 200 IMO. I may be looking to trade a 201 for somebody's 51 if I can find a person. I've had the Daiwa Lexa and T3 Ballistic XS and its not comparison.
  5. I'm a lefty too . I'm just messing around with the trade because I know nobody will take that offer. That is why the E is clearly better than the G. I was just making a point. That being there's nothing wrong with the G, its just not the reel the E is and I do have both.
  6. I know people say there's nothing wrong with the G. It performs well. Sure it does but how about this. If I send you my Curado G's for your E's I bet you wouldn't do that trade. Send me your E I'll gladly send you my G.
  7. They sure are winning their customers fast. That's the right way to do it. Props to ***.
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd rather pay $200 for a very slightly upgraded Curado E than pay $160 for a downgrade Curado G. You know why, because I just bought 3 slightly upgraded Curado E's which is now called Chronarch E lol. Can you imagine Toyota making the #1 selling car, their Camry into a leather seated Corolla and hoped their consumers would be ok with that?
  9. I tried my buddies setup on 3/16 shad raps before and cast excellent. The length will help casting those balsa. My buddies setup. 7'2 Shimano Cumura MF 1st gen Shimano Chronarch 50E.
  10. I wish the Mn thread was more alive. I've been wanting to ask questions and suggestions about mn fishing. Seems like many of the tips and techniques are more for souther lakes and reservoirs, not natural lakes up north. Also in two weeks I'm taking a week off work. I plan to go wader fishing for Smallies but don't know much areas. I just know Monticello area but water is high I heard. If anyone knows spots and can PM me that would be great. I'll share my spots in return. BTW I'm strictly catch n release sportsman and fish by myself so don't worry about your spots getting taken over. I only Smallie fish 1-2 times a year. The rest is LMB tournament.
  11. Sorry I can't help you on the question but I must say WI is one hell of a state for Smallies. I'm from MN and we have areas with nice Smallies but the size is not a big as WI's Smallies.
  12. I thought you had to pay a $50 fee for a replacement? Or is that if its your fault?
  13. I don't know if the *** is lighter than the Veritas or not. I both of them in 7'3 MH. The one thing is for sure is that the *** balances out way better. That may be why peope are thinking the Omens are lighter. Sold all my Veritas for Omens, that should tell you how I feel about these rods.
  14. Dam that sucks. I feel for you Kenneth. Those giants have no ethics and this will not be the last time they steal ideas. I remember the story of Skeet/Berkley sick fish taking the design mold of those trash fish. I don't think they ever told the public they bought the mold and made it like they designed it, well at least that's what Skeet said. They at least paid those guys for the mold even though they could have just copied it and make a mold similar. Well here's one thing to look up on. I never heard of your buisness before and after hearing of this story I now know your buisness. If you can't take any legal action because of cost at least make it loud and clear you were the original inventor and make this negative into a positive for your business.
  15. Try brown orange jigs with netbait Paca chunk. Blue black works good for me in the morning or when it's dark but I use brown orange during daylight hours.
  16. I'm sold. I should just delete my SK punch weights thread lol. I have a big tournament this weekend. I wish I would have found this sooner. Dam gotta rig it up the old way until I get my order in.
  17. Will look into that. Thanks.
  18. Want to focus more on punching this summer. Saw these SK bullet weights with built in skirts. Was wondering if anyone here has used these and think it's good for less hassle. Or just go the traditional route of getting weights and skirts seperately. The one thing I like about these SK's are all the wieghts are the same price. Usually at 1oz most tungsten weights are around $10, but they are probably bette quality weights.
  19. I'd keep the 50 on it, that's what I use. I have had jigs stuck on rocks and twigs but has the strength to get them back. Cast far enough for me that gaining that few feet with the 30lb doesn't add enough value for me to switch.
  20. Exactly my point. I'd rather buy a $200 Curado with minor upgrades than a less refine Curado for $160 because you know what, I just did. Bought a painted white Curado lol. Even though people knew the Chronarch E is really just the Curado E they still buy it. Lineup should be Core, Chronarch CI4, Curado E.
  21. I think Shimano should just admit their mistake by messing up their whole line up and correct what's wrong. Paint the Chronarch back to green and get rid of the G. Seriously I would rather pay $200 for a updated Curado than pay $140 for a watered down Curado. People would accept rising material cost or whatever their reasons were. Few people have accepted the Chronarch and Curado shifting down a level. It's the equivalent of McDonalds not wanting to charge more for their Big Mac due to inflation and they take away one patty and still call it a Big Mac G.
  22. My vote is also for the 7'1 MHF 13 Fishin *** at your price point. This is th rod I take with me when I go shore fishing and can only take one. Very versatile which you can use for just about anything. You will not be disappointed.
  23. I use 15lb Seaguer Invx for shallow/square bill and 10lb of the same lines for med to deep diving cranks but I don't do deep cranks much. I am satisfy with this line considering I was using Berkley Vanish once "double face palm".
  24. Palomar nots for me on swivels and braids. I use improve clinch not on almost everything but its a pain to try to do improve clinch on a swivel because it keeps spinning. Maybe I'm doing it wrong lol.
  25. Core 50mg weighs 5.5oz Core 100mg weighs 6.1oz Core 100mg7 weighs 6.7oz I understand the 50 series spool and frame is smaller but that is still a big weight difference. What I'm really wondering is why the 100 vs 100mg7 is such a big difference too. The chronarch e50 is only .4 lighter than the e100. Thoughts?
