  1. I have a GL2 845cbr and it's rated the same as the OP's. I'm able to throw scatter raps respectively only after I switched to a chronarch 51e. Previously I was using a Chronarch ci4+. The ci4 toss it ok, but it was either not the distance I want or adjust until I back lash. With the 50 spool with 20lb braid I'm noa able to toss with worry free and the distance is respectable for such a light lure. I'm even able to toss shad rap #5 respectively. So I feel the rod is on the heavy side for those lure but could be helped with the right reel. If your using the typical 200 size crank reel I'm not so sure.
  2. The Scorpion XT is a heck of a deal with the low yen right now. I hear what you're saying about the JDM monkey. Just a few hours ago I ordered an Alpha SV and a Shimano Exsence DC! I almost pulled the trigger on the Steez limited SV too but......that means I'd have to get another Megabass rod but I'm officially broke now.
  3. Basically a chronarch 50 but It has 7.7:1 gears and also it has this unique spool. Not only is it shallow it's also narrow. The idea is its used with thin diameter braids so it helps prevent line digging. I thought about getting one for weightless senko on 20lb braid but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
  4. Yup I love the 3D as well and cannot wait until Daiwa releases an aluminum or magnesium reel with 3d. The hood makes the reel fun and yes its funny once you grab a different reel you tend to try to close the hood when it's not there lol. I really shouldn't but I may get another T3 variant.
  5. I had the version 2. The new one touches the spool more than the original I believe.
  6. Lol ok, at least I didn't call it plastic like some people that hates it.
  7. I've had both hedgehog and Boca tools. As much of a fan as I am of JDM products and all their genius ideas and concepts I think the hedgehog tool is a bad design. When using the tool on certain spools, I believe it'll be for most spools, the toil touches the side of the spool. You're supposed to put painters tape between the tool and the spool but I'm asking myself why? They could have design it differently. Even being careful I make a very small scratch on one of my spool. It didn't effect performance as it was more of a blemish and not a deny but still. I've seen at least 2 spools being sold in classifieds that has the same mark. One guy I Pm'd him and he confirmed it was from the HH tool. The other one I didn't PM him but I'm 100% sure it was the HH tool making that mark as it looks identical. The Boca while violent, doesn't touch the spool at all. I like the Boca better, but it needs much improvement as well.
  8. My love hate relationship with the T3 platform continues. Love the casting ability and the 3D braking system. Hate the Zion and geary feel. The hood makes the reel fun to use but annoying at times. I feel the reel should retail at $250-300 due to the amazing casting and brakes but not at $420. For $150ish that's a killer deal IMO. I sold my T3 1016 because of this love hate relationship. Now even with my new high end reels I've been purchasing I still want another one lol. I think I'm going to get a T3 MX from japan as my next one. It doesn't have the famous 1016 spool but I've read that it has been improved upon on a few of the annoying things associated with the T3 platform. I too have been watching ebay auctions on the 1016 and have passed a few in the $160 range just because I need the cash on two other high end reels. I say go for it if you have the chance. Just understand Zion doesn't feel like Aluminum.
  9. North west show this weekend at Minneapolis convention center. PM me for more details as I will already forgotten I replied on this thread in a few hours lol.
  10. Z2020 isn't for everyone and less applications. It's just too bulky and I believe it's discontinued as well. I don't know why they got rid of their best braking system. Did cost to much to make? Hard to believe that.
  11. I'm still waiting for that Daiwa aluminum 3D braking reel, and No its not the Tatula. I just don't know why Daiwa won't take the beSt out of the T3 and leave the other junk out. I'll be all for a new steez with TWS and 3D!
  12. I just think it's not Daiwa time to explode yet. When it was Shimano times they released the Antares, Metanium, chronarch ci4, curado i, and Aldebaran all within 2 years. All went to a newer frame design. It's like auto manufacturers. They seems to do a lineup change all together. With Daiwa I believe in a year or 2 they will come out with something similar. However it seems like their current line up has too many gaps. If they want people to buy their JDM products from japan they're taking a huge loss due to the low Yen taking away sales from their USDM brand. Daiwa better hurry before Abu comes back with a Revo gen 4 lol.
  13. Every brand has their ups and downs. Shimano was on a downward path 4 years ago. The last 2 years and including this past few months Shimano is on fire. It's good that people are complaining about Daiwa. It'll only push them to make better product.
  14. Nice. Where did you score than zillion 100HLA from? I've been looking for one the past 2 weeks with no luck lol. May just settle for a tatula.
  15. That sucks, do I have to change my profile pic now???
  16. Yeah for $200 it's a bargain considering a SV spool cost $125. Just don't have anymore rods and I've spent so much already. I need a cranking reel so might get the slow gear one.
  17. Nice, I may have to pick on up too.
  18. Yup that's the one. I was ready to go in a bidding war up until $500 but luckily I got it for cheap. I was on a waiting list for Japan tackle and Japan lure shop.
  19. I'm going to cry like a little girl the day I get that first scratch. Pictures can't capture how stunning this reel is.
  20. People keep looking at the width but it's actually the profile of the Tatula that bothers some people. Actual width of the Tatula and the Curado is about the same but profile is completely different. Shimano's latest reels near the nose of the reel gets smaller. This makes it feel like it is less wide especially to people that has their pointer finger around the nose. With the Tatual it starts out narrow around the clutch bar but gets wider by the nose for some odd reason. This makes the Tatula feel wider.
  21. DT6 are pretty light cranks. The advantage of using the 50 reel is the spool is semi finesse. It can cast light lures a lot better than the 200 size spool. I don't crank enough to justify couple setups so I have one MHM crank rod. I was having trouble casting shad rap #5 and sometimes 1.5's. IM sure it was more due to the MH rod as it doesn't load up as nice as a M rod but I didn't want to go a power down since I want the MH for banging squarebill and rip lipless off grass. So the solution was using a 50 series. Now I can cast 3/16 shad raps respectfully and I can bomb 1.5 with no issues. Again this is with a GL2 MHM rod. I'm sure your MM rod will load up better but still the 50 will cast better than a 200 for those light cranks.
  22. Yours might be one of those rare ones that have too much grease and probably grease got in the wrong areas. I bet if you did a deep cleaning and relube you'll be amazed or send it to a pro and let them do it. I guess at the same time why should you have to if it's a new reel right? With that said I own Metanium, Steez, MB, core, and ci4+, and I honestly feel like the curado is the best bargain of them all. If I wasn't so into high end gears I could easily fish with all curado I's and a few 50 series. I definitely like the I better than the 200E's. There must be something wrong with your reel as I was bombing hollow body frogs with mine.
  23. I was amazed when I switched my cranking reel from a T3 1016, to chronarch ci4+, to a chronarch 51. I can cast lighter shad raps #5 well and also handle medium divers. I think you'll like it as long as you don't go over 12 feet diving cranks and stay under 3/4 oz cranks..give or take. However later on I did add a longer 90mm handle and I think this helps getting more leverage.
  24. Oh oh.....I see color accent parts on the reel already. It has begun. lol Nice combo there!
  25. Scratch what I recommended. I didn't read it throughly with Lilly pads and cover. I was just seeing 1/4 oz lol. It's going to be a tough one if you're picky with balance. Also fishing cover like that majority of the rods with power will make casting accuracy poor.
