  1. Well since I started this I'll give my opinion on it. First of all Aaron Martens is my favorite pro fisherman since I have been finesse fishing lately and have been watching a lot of his videos and tips. I understand the move since professional fishing cost $100,000 a year. I don't have numbers but I doubt Megabass invest in pro fishing as much as Quantum, Strike King, Yamaha, or Nitro. I'm sure Enigma Fishing offered him a deal he could not pass up. With that said, I'm am surprise with this whole line of rods. He has been with Megabass for 17 years I think. Whether you think their rods are worth the price one thing you cannot deny is that their products are aesthetically as good as it gets. Everything just compliments each other with colors, components, and style. When I saw the new Aarons Edge rods and the video that was linked a few post back the first thing I thought to myself was "sham wow"!. It's almost infomercial like. From the whacky colors scheme, to the "E" on Enigma, to Aarons quoted line "I think they're the best rods on the market at any price". This all seems like a bad dream or an April fools joke. Companies pay graphic designers big time money to come up with the best logos but Enigma seem to have gotten a design from a child. I would expect Aaron with all that expertise and time with such artistic gears that he would help or come up with sleeker looking rods. I know some will tell me looks doesn't matter but I can counter with, if it didn't have Aaron Martens name on it would anyone really give these rods a shot with how it looks? Only time will tell if these are a hit or not. Again good luck to Amart and whoever decides to try these. Post reviews
  2. Can't fault him for leaving. Pro Bass fishing isn't cheap. Megabass can't match it I'm sure.
  3. BTW rods will sell for $169.99
  4. Everyone has to eat and this is a deal he can't pass up. I'm sure money wise Megabass can't even come close to this offer. It's just really shocking that with him using MB rods for so long when it's his time to have total control he comes out with something so generic looking. I wish him the best though.
  5. That was an error on my part regardless. Don't want wrong info floating around the web.
  6. Sorry I will go edit my original post. It's Enigma fishing and his line is called Aarons Edge.
  7. For those of you who repeatedly say they could care less on aesthetics of fishing gears as long as it performs this will put your beliefs to the test As some of you know Aaron Martens left Megabass to sign with Enigma Fishing. With Martens expertise in rods I believe these will be good rods. The colors are....interesting. Thought?
  8. I wouldn't say the 735c is the "best" but it is a really good frog rod. I tried my buddies Steez XBD and it's amazing but it's more than what I want to spend for a frog rod. I have a 735c and its balance is superb and has the nice tip to chuck them frogs. I would definitely recommend it.
  9. I think you guy have to understand the people that buys high end gears aren't buying it to catch more fish or be a better fisherman. It can help but we know in the end it's still up to the fisherman. Sometimes you have to just look at it like this. Why buy a $200,000+ house when a $100,000 house will do. Why buy a $25,000+ car when a $8000 car will do. Why buy a $50,000 bass boat when a $5000 boat will do. Why buy clothes at the mall when buying it at Walmart will do. If you appreciate better quality and sometimes better performing products then you'll want to pay more for it. We are all in different stages in our lives. Some people that buy high end have a stable good job and value the gear more than others. I seem to here the guys that don't care for high end gears often try to say they catch more fish on their low end gears. Always seem to make a point about it. The guys that buy high end gears never seem to put down low end gears or say it's catches less fish. These guys all started with low end gears once so they know both ends of it.
  10. Well I bought two GL2 two years ago. One crank and one worm and jig. I couldn't sell the worm and jig rod fast Enough. For a rod at that price point it felt so dead to me. I kept the crank rod because I like the reel seat and handle and it's just for cranking. My $100 rods in the past are superior to the GL2 for bottom contact. The ***, Veritas, and Tatula rods are really nice. You really don't need anything better than these to fish effectively. Just that I like enthusiasts gears so I go up in price range. To me it's worth it because I like performace just as much as attention to detail and design.
  11. Are you looking for an American company or a product thats built in America and made with American components too? It could get tough searching for the all American products these days. BTW I'm not sure if it matters to you but that Lews reel isn't made in the USA.
  12. Already fell for the Dark side two years ago. This year I'll get some megabass and test my marriage lol.
  13. Point of no return.............beginning of the end...............YOLO
  14. I prefer keeping the same name. The market that buys JDM gears over the US is so small anyways. Example buying a scorpion over a Curado. Very very little difference. I can see a reason for it if the JDM version had much more to their counter part.
  15. They're both the same reel except name and cosmetics. The core is just the US name. With shimano bringing over the Antares and Metanium I have a feeling they'll keep the name Aldebaran even for the US marker. Well I think.......
  16. Lol didn't even see that it was you. Well the truth is you got grief from it because you didn't follow through with ending what you started. Even those screen shots only ended with a question. If it was me and Daiwa replaced my reels I would at least follow up with a message back. If the messages kept going can we see the rest?
  17. Wouldn't you think it would be beneficial to finish the thread you started? As to why I'm careful of bashing people that has claim to have issues, I firmly believe in rare cases it may be true. I'm not sure where that guy got those screen shots of the PM's but with all the post you've made I'm curious to why you left your thread hanging for people to wonder and judge?
  18. Again I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's so rare for the amount oF reels the Tatula has sold. Under rare circumstances it may happen. With Daiwa changing the TWS on the Zillions it makes me believe they have seen rare issus. Now on that guy MrEddyG. I followed his post. Two of them. His post just ends with no outcome. He said he was going to send his reel in and will follow up with everyone. He never did just like the rest.
  19. Those HH bearings already have the Alchemy oil in them. They're good to go. I think bocas come dry and optional if you want to oil or not bUT don't quote me on that part. Not 100% sure. Still won't need to flush them either.
  20. To this date, I don't believe anyone that publicly complained about he grooving sent their reels in for Daiwa to take a look? From the last time I kept up with it, the handful of people that said their reels had groove but wouldn't send their reels because they didn't want any down time while their reels was being looked at. A Daiwa rep even offered compensation but they all kept refusing to send their reels in because of their own personal reasons. Now I'm not saying it's all lies, I wouldn't know, I'm just saying don't believe everything you hear on the internet. There are brand bashers with nothing better to do. If you follow up on TWS grooving around the net, you'll find yourself frustrated just reading it. The lack of common sense some of these people have is amazing. If I buy a product that is defective I would send it in and get my product fixed. If a sale rep told me to send it in why would I think twice about it and then just keep using it or try to fix it myself. Every single one of these people that claims of grooving, has not come back and finished their story of what they did to their reel. I believe one said he just sold it, one said he'll just order parts and fix it himself, and one said he went to BPS instead of Daiwa and got a replacement. IMO I do believe it can happen but it's under very rare certain circumstances. Maybe a combination of line, water, and lure? Every line of reels has a percentage of bad apples that get sent back for whatever the reasons. Consider this the same with the TWS flaw. I sent back one of my ci4+ because it was making rubbing scratching noise on retrieve but I'm not about to say the ci4+ has issues.
  21. If you're buying after market bearings no need to flush them. Stock bearings are greased from the factory. Most people that buys reel doesn't do maintenance so they add grease because it last a lot longer. When you flush the bearings, you are removing the grease. After that you can add oil to quite and smooth them out but there will be no more grease. So that means you will need to add a drop of grease ever so often, depending on how much you use your reels. If you're looking for the Hedgehogs here it is. http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/548
  22. I know people are suggesting a flushing the stock bearing bUT my opinion is if you're thinking about it, go for it. My punch and jig reels have flush bearings because I put money into drags and longer handle. My light pitching, senko, trig, crank, and shakey head all have Hedgehog or Boca bearings. I think the $30ish is well worth it. Expect only around 5 yards of distance increase, give or take another 5ish. However the accuracy is improved and the effort needed to get the same distance is improved. Pitching soft plastic is one thing I see benefits of going with after market bearings. That's my opinion and I'm sure others will have theirs but as an enthusiast you'll spend money on little improvements. Whether it's worth it, that is up to only you. To me it's definitely worth it.
  23. The body, handle, and knob looks good to me but that yellow front plate looks really bad.
