  1. Sorry lines can't help me break 15" of ice. Shelf queen it'll be for another month.
  2. I would suggest trying to find a Shimano Cumulus 6'10 MH. I have that rod and it's nice. It's not really a MH, more like a Medium but has the backbone also. It is super light but I wouldn't say it's a super balance rod Though but it's so light you don't really care. The rod is around 3.5 oz, just don't remember the exact weight. My guess is this rod with the 15 Aldebaran it'll be so light that even though it's not the best balancing rod you wouldn't even care. Sorry not selling my rod
  3. TT should have just done a Curado I vs Tatula comparison. I feel like the Ci4+ is a different reel. Not finesse but not work horse either, but can be if needed. The ci4+ should be compared to the Daiwa SS Sv.
  4. Find a used Stradic Ci4. I love how light it is and it's refine enough. Just very easy on the arm to when your holding the rod straight out or slightly tip up all day.
  5. I just want to say thanks to the members here that are always willing to share their wealth of knowledge and also help other members. I have been telling myself that I need to stop surfing BR and tone down on post as it's becoming a bad habit since I keep sneaking around on my smart phone while at work with this site. I do want to give out a special thanks to Brian aka "a1712". I had an issue with my Shimano Cumura spinning rod where the lock nut/handle snapped in half. Shimano refused to warranty the rod because they said there is no way it was a defect. It turned into a nightmare as they attempted to find more excuse to not own up to their warranty but I don't want to get into specifics as I don't want to make this a bash thread. I'm still a Shimano guy and have their products and apparels. If anyone is really curious I can tell the story through PM in case you need advise on future warranty claims. Anyways I made a post about the broken lock nut a month ago and Brian a1712 responded that he had the same issue. Well after Shimano said they wont warranty my rod I PM'd Brian, who I don't even know, and he was generous enough to give me his info like name, number, and address. He even offered to have Shimano call him so he can explain what happened to his rod and maybe they can look up his account and see the reason for his replacement was the same issue as mine. Thankfully today Shimano called and said they thought over it and will warranty the rod. I even told them to call Brian so they realize I'm not the first one that has had a bad lock nut. They declined to investigate further. Even though they didn't have to call Brian it is good to know members are willing to help out others when in need of help. Brian does not know me at all and for his willingness to help me out I am forever thankful of that. Maybe one day I can repay that to another member. Great forum and great members we have here. My previous post in case anyone is curious to my defective lock nut. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/149726-what-can-i-do-about-this-rod/?hl=%2Bshimano+%2Block+%2Bnut
  6. I hate being a lefty!!!!
  7. I use 20lb braid with a 8lb flouro leader and never use swivel. Just tie both lines direct. I like my leader to be a good 5' so incase I break off I can get away with not having to tie a leader again.
  8. I don't know about marshasino.com. They don't take paypal and will only take wire transfer. They aren't from Japan either. Use caution bUT good luck.
  9. Yup love my ci4+ also. Used it for drop shot and having a light weight reel is a must have. Hey I'm running yellow braids too lol. Too bad I just sold it today Needed the money for a different reel.
  10. Uhh...haha well, ummm, I went to the dark side. I'm just running all high end setups this year except my cranking rod. I'm not sure if this can help the majority of BR members. I'm using megabass rods, some megabass reels, and some Daiwa. I don't want to list it here since I don't want to make it like I'm bragging. I could PM you my setups though or if there's ever a new thread.
  11. "Best" you'll get the typical BR replies about preference, which is true. If you ask "which is your favorite reel and why" you'll get better answers. For me my favorite reel under $200 is the Shimano Chronarch 51e. It can almost do it all. I did a test on distance against a T3 1016 on casting distance with a senko and it only lost by 2-3 yards average. Very impressive considering the T3 1016 is consider the best caster. I use it to crank shad raps, 1.5's, to medium divers. It has more power than my Daiwa T3, steez, and SOL. It's small so Palming is great. After flushing and reoiling the spool and side Plate bearings it was even better. The only thing about it is if you run 15lb mono then you'll run into line capacity issues.
  12. I sold all my gears last year and will only stick to 6 setups this year.....for now lol. This covers just almost everything that I fish. Drop Shot Shakey Head crank Senko/Trig Jigs punch/frog
  13. You got a crank, spinnerbait, and finesse setup. Go for a bottom contact setup for Jigs, Trigs, and light punching. I recommend a baitcast in 7:1 ratio and a 7' MHF rod.
  14. The only reason the GL2 may not go away is because the line has been around for so long. Otherwise it'll be like the Tatula $150 and Lexa $140. With the Lexa just being ordinary and the Tatula being one of the best bang for the buck I predicted the demise of the Lexa. I had the GL2 worn n jig rod and couldn't stand it. I would think sales and reviews reflect this and Gloomis took note as to why they built a line at about the same price point. That's my theory lol.
  15. Not really understanding your statement regarding my statement? Is the GL2 going away?
  16. I don't known if the rep was just a idiot or he was brand bashing considering BPS and Lews has their own issues and Shimano is Daiwas number one competitor. I'm glad there is forums and Internet in general. In the past 3 years I think I have surpassed 90% of retail workers knowledge in gears. One time I was at a big box store and while looking at a Shimano one employee suggested I look into Lews because it's built in America and then the conversation moved to why he doesn't buy Honda because they're built in Japan. I just shook my head and walked away.
  17. It can't get any worse than their $200 GL2 right? Their GL2 must not be doing well to introduce a line that will compete with it.
  18. Seeing picture of how congested and full the lock dam was I don't know why Poche wasn't careful. I would think once your in a certain position another boater cannot pass you up in the order to get in the lock so I'm not sure why he was so in a hurry and didn't troll at a speed that he can control. I'm sure when BASS did the investigation they talked to the Lock Master on what he saw. For Poche to be punished also means he was being careless when he caused the accident and he could have avoided the incident one more time if he hadn't gotten angry back at Ish when he was getting yelled at. Ish is just annoying to me peroid.
  19. Ok Bass Hunter, how do you like that combo? I will use it for frogs but frog season is so short up here. For the rest of the time I'll use it for small swim baits for pikes, and 1/2 Oz jerksbaits.
  20. Mine is on the way to paired with a Megabass X4 Destruction! Although I can't do anything with it until ice melts smh.
  21. 8 rods is a lot. I always try to minimize it to 6 pre fishing but tourney days I'll drop it to 4 setups. I use rod Sox on all if them and use velco. Just go to Walmart they have simple velco for under $5. As for the bag I have a Gander one that fits 6 3700 planos. I put plastic in them since keeping in bags takes up too much room not being organized. It is heavy though with all those plastics. For food n drinks just bring a separate bag and drop it in one of his compartments.
  22. That quote was from Amart if you look at the wire to fish site. I'm not making a big deal out of it as I know it's marketing. I'll have my rights to judge though if they make that claim. They should take tips from ***. They came out of no where with clever marketing ideas. Selling rods below their price point to get their name out. Then now they are focusing on more enthusiasts line.
  23. This is basically a fast gear ratio chronarch/curado 50 with a new spool. The spool is design for small braided line. The spool is semi shallow but it's very narrow to prevent line digging. It'll be a technique specific reel with limited line capacity for you mono users. It has brass gears thougH
  24. Save a little more and go to fleabay and get a Tatula. $90, brand new, free shipping, and no tax. I can guarantee you that you won't find a better bargain than that.
  25. Agree.....I'm just adding everything up to my opinion.
