Best Hook & Rig For Big Plastics?
If you're using the 7" version I would use a 5/0 EWG. For the 10" you may be better off with these in 7/0.- http://www.***.com/Owner_Oversize_Worm_Hooks/descpage-OOW.html

Wacky Rig Problems
Are you fighting the fish for a few seconds before they come off? If so, they only have half the worm in their mouth. If you have ever seen a bass in a tank eat a 5" wacky worm, most of the time they only bite half the worm and don't get the hook in their mouth. Use highly visible line, and when you see it jump, wait 3-5 seconds and then set the hook. This gives the fish enough time to eat the whole thing. You might also want to try 4" worms, the fish are more likely to suck the whole thing in. Just experiment with letting them eat it and see what works best.

Oopsy Ike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw this on facebook a few minutes ago. Supposedly he hit something underwater and veered off course onto the bank. Hopefully there isn't too much damage.

Where Do You Draw The Line With Wind?
never tried.....my mom wouldn't let me touch a rifle let alone kill something with it. Having a tree hugger mom really stinks sometimes.

Best Smallmouth Lure
Give these a try on a stand-up jighead and bounce them along the bottom. Best finesse craw on the market IMHO. These things are like crack for an addict to the fish. http://www.***.com/Power_Team_Lures_Craw_Doeuvre/descpage-PTLCD.html

Where Do You Draw The Line With Wind?
I don't fish from a boat so my input may not matter much to all you boaters. I tend to draw the line at 15mph. I have to ride my bike 20 minutes to my favorite pond. Not that easy when you're carrying 3 rods, a 10lb backpack, and fighting headwinds the whole way.

New Rig ... Or Is It?
I think those worms would be flat-out awesome on a jika rig as well. You're pulling a split ring attached to the hook instead of a texas rig so the worm would stay tail up more.

Jig Fishing May Not Be For Me.........
Sounds like you have the wrong equipment. Generally jig fishing is done with 20+ pound braid or fluorocarbon. Mono has horrible abrasion resistance in lighter tests. What jigs are you using? If you are using a really cheap or poorly designed jig it won't be as weedless. I like dirty jigs, seibert outdoors, northstar custom baits, and ganns performance tackle when it comes to jigs.

What Is Your One Weakness....
I don't really have enough money to have a weakness in a certain type of lure collection, but I guess mine would have to be soft plastics. I have 3 plano 3700's full of soft baits I hardly ever use.

Tubes...what Is Your Favorite Flavor?
+1 on the powerteam lures food chain tube. Super soft and durable, and the hog tonic scent is great. http://www.***.com/Power_Team_Lures_Food_Chain_Tube/descpage-PTLFCT.html

Shaky Head Baits
Powerteam Lures 7" finicky tickler. Best shaky head worm on the market.
-
Soft Plastic Oil/grease
Baits will lose their scent a bit, but not completely. I have baits in plano boxes that still have the hog tonic on them that I dumped on them 2 months ago.

Worm Fishing
depends on water clarity and what works on your lake. If the water is clear, I throw watermelon. If it is stained, green pumpkin. If it is muddy, black and blue. I mainly use the 7" but in muddy water I'll go up to the 10".

Favorite Squarebill Crankbait

This Really Irritates Me.
X2 I'm a total grammar nazi and i'm proud of it. If you're going to be illiterate, do it in school where your teacher can fix your english.

Where Are The Females?
gotcha. i'll try a small swim jig and see if they bite it better. if not, there's always the good old T-rigged worm.
-
Final Advice
If you're anywhere near me, we can probably fish the same pattern. The males are staging on new weed patches in the middle of creek channels on the pond I fish. I caught 4, lost 2, and had 10 followers on saturday- all by burning a squarebill. In a few weeks the males will be up shallow preparing the beds while the females move up. I'm gonna try a swim jig this week and see if they bite it better. I also tried a spinnerbait with no luck.

Anyone Use Firetiger Color Much?
I love firetiger when I'm river fishing. I remember I had one tiny little perch imitator crankbait that was a firetiger color. It came out of a little blue fox crankbait kit. I caught so many fish on that little thing. Wish I knew where it was.

Stinkbugs
x2....nothing worse than picking up your drink and finding a stinkbug in it.

Worm Fishing
Worms have their laces in my box for one application- deep brushpiles. Hard to beat a 10" curl tail worm with a 1/2 oz weight for fishing deep brush. It slides right through places a jig can't go and seems to get the big bites. I like the rage tail anaconda and the PTL ribbon hinge worm the most.
