  2. No fishing today due to a bit of rain, but I got 16 yesterday on a squarebill. Going tommorow again.
  3. That's a pretty wide spectrum of different times to cover. Prespawn, spawn, and postspawn baits can be completely different and the variety of baits I throw would take be half an hour to type out on my phone. Basically: Prespawn: covering ground. (Cranks, spinnerbaits, soft jerkbaits, etc) Spawn: brightly colored baits with lots of vibration (ex. Pearl rage craws) I don't fish direct prespawn very often. The fish are so spooky and hard to catch. I usually wait a few weeks after the spawn for the bass to get into their summer haunts.
  4. Everyone always talks about their biggest bass.......what about your smallest?! Mine was a 7 incher on an inline spinner at Lake Gaston. How small was it, and what did you catch it on? If you have pics, post em!
  5. just make sure you don't store them with any other non-elaztech plastics! They melt all over!
  6. What's a river bug? Never heard of it before......
  7. 15 bass in 4 hours today. I found a few small concentrations of fish on large grass patches and was able to catch them on a squarebill. You know you had a good day when your thumb is shredded. the biggest was 2lbs, with the rest going about a pound.
  8. Thanks for the feedback guys. I am a little worried about the baits ripping because they are so thin but I think the hookup ratio with a round gap will be very good for the same reason.
  9. If an adult manages to overcome their ego to ask a teen like me what I am throwing, I will gladly tell them. Or another young angler for that matter. As for giving away what is working, I would if I could. I barely have enough for myself. I will never, ever tell others what I am using while fishing a tournament.
  10. Well.......woops.....didn't mean to buy that much. I was going to get a few packs of the new recons but somehow 3 packs of craws, a pack of toads, and 2 packs of swimming caffiene shads jumped into my arms! I'm loving the new plastic SK is using for rage tail baits! Its a lot more durable than it used to be. I'll be a rageaholic like most of you guys at this rate. anyone use the recons yet? Thoughts?
  11. I can actually see how that might work....
  12. Once so far......1 treble barb from a BPS Egg wakebait that my mom insisted I went to the hospital for....the novacaine hurt worse wearing off than the hook did coming out. Not fun. Learning how to take a hook out is extremely important. 3 easy steps Step 1: push the eyelet down against the skin Step 2: take a tied loop of line and slip it around the bend Step 3: hold the eyelet down and give the loop a good quick yank, the barb will pop right out. Slap some neosporin on with a band-aid and go back to fishing.
  13. I want to fish some big worms this year.....namely rage tail thumpers, anacondas, and recons.
  14. I like the rage tail and powerteam lures lizards. The PTL ones have backwards legs and a stepped tail for moe action.
  15. I don't use EWG hooks for fishing grass or wood. Go for an offset straight shank or a straight shank with a keeper.
  16. Not at all. I mainly use tungsten anyways. However, sun is what you should be worried about. Always wear sunscreen on a sunny day.
  17. I started using bobber stops and never went back to toothpicks or jig skirt material doubled over inside with a scrap on line. The bobber stops are just so easy to use, and you don't have to take them off when you change lures. Just slide it up, cut the lure off, tie the new one on, and slide it back down.
  18. I use the uni to uni. never, ever use the bloot knot unless you like losing leaders and lures when you cast.
  19. do you have a family canoe, kayak, anything? you can get an aluminim dinghy for under $200 at BPS and get two paddle mounts for it.
  20. just thread one on one of these and put a bit of superglue on to hold it in place. completely weedless. http://www.***.com/Gamakatsu_G-Finesse_Series_Wacky_Jig_Head_3pk/descpage-SJW.html
  21. what bait were you using?
  22. I throw either a Z-too, caffiene shad, or a PTL 4.8" hammer shad.
  23. chartreuse chatterbait or squarebill, black and blue jig for flipping flooded brush.
  24. 5" on a 1/4 oz. 5/0 screw-lock, 3" on an 1/8 oz. 3/0 or a swimjig. I mainly use the strike king shadalicious but the money minnow is very similar, except it comes with the belly already slit. here's a video I made on the shadalicious, skip to 1:40 for rigging tips and how to get more fish out of them.
  25. does anyone use jerkbaits in the fall, and if so how do you fish them?
