  2. went to South Wattupa on Saturday. only got a few cast's in. It was wayyyyyyy to windy and choppy out there on my canoe. had no luck but again it was very short lived. Then yesterday i went out on Swansea dam pond. had some bites but no luck. again its early and water temps were 38 on wattupa and 42 on the dam. At least it was a relaxing time on the canoe. well on swansea pond anyways..lol
  3. thanks everyone. So far the site has been very informative and helpful and the people very quick to help out
  4. Thanks, little does the wife know but a yak is on the shopping list this year.i have a saltwater river about 1/4 mile down my street...with access. would love to get out on it.
  5. Well Ive been around the forums for a few months posting mostly in the canoe boat section and North East section, im Ed from Massachusetts, currently im a canoe fishing type of guy and when time is of the essence i also don't mind casting from shore. At least im fishing. Im almost done with my canoe trailer project as well as putting the finishing touches on the canoe. thats more or less a work in progress that will probably never be done..lol.Im newwer to the sport as in i got back into it last year. i hadnt cast since i was a kid. As i have gotten older more individual things seem to be what i like most. Golf, fishing ect. I still have my Abu Garcia from when i was about 7 or so. re strung it, tore it apart to lube and works great.5'6 combo. i guess thats it unless something jumps in my head.lol
  6. you can always find rod holders at walmart, bass pro ect. if its just for storage you could do the milk crate and add small pieces of PVC to it, also store gear in it as well. Anchoring can be done pretty simple as well depending on what you want. Front, rear trolly setup like a kayak?. i personally just have a rear and so far like it. Although having one in the front could help with movement as well..
  7. those look like a great investment, ill have to check those out. thanks
  8. love that thing Rhino....lol i have a 14ft OT Hunter(80's) i have a small mount for my fish finder, a brace in back for a trolling motor and on the other side for the transducer (fish finder) also have a rear anchor with a pulley up a ways to make it easy to pick up and cleat it off. ill take some pics next time im out(this saturday) Its balanced enough to stand and cast from, only new mod im doing this year is a new seat like Rhino's and finish up with the canoe trailer i made.
  9. sweet setup goos, im thinking of trying to do something similar to my canoe. rack and such
  10. Also with Foxboro if the wife doesnt want to walk around there are plenty of places she go shop while i spend a few hours inside lol
  11. my buddy works at bass pro so i can get like 40% off a trolling motor. just gotta grab a battery. my money has been tied up in my canoe trailer ive been making. soooo worth it though. no more real lifting.just pull it on
  12. thankfully im within 30mins of the foxboro location and have a guy on the inside with sick discounts.
  13. went to lake Rico in Taunton for a few hours yesterday. Very windy, so the canoe paddling was tricky..lol..makes me want to go out and finaly get a trolling motor. Had a few bites but no luck.felt good to go out and shake off some of the rust though. havent fished from the canoe so it was just nice being out there.
  14. a lot of the water in the southcoast is clear, well smaller ponds and such
  15. ive been curious about a trolly kit. i have an anchor but goes off the back. goes 3/4 up the canoe to a pulley and back to a clevis beside me.
  16. all frozen on the south coast....I don't understand,
  17. Diesel mechanic inspector for the department of defense(Army). Pretty good gig, used to work on the floor turning wrenchs but moved up.
  18. never know if you got a good deal on it at the store you can probably make money selling it via Craigslist.
  19. could fill some gallon containers with sand, and when needing to be stationary use one as an anchor.or a small cooler and fill it up with beverages so you have drinks and weight.
  20. it does sound like you got a steal so the money you spend on a hauling solution you probably would have spent anyways on a smaller canoe(trailer, foam blocks whatever). So no need to second guess. i would think a little bit of weight up front will keep the front down enough to be easily manageable.
  21. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/111936-canoe-trailer-build/ i built my own out of a harbor freight trailer. you dont have to make a storage area, so 2 8ft 2x4 with some outdoor rug on top would be enough, so for under 250bux you can have it registered and using it with heavy lifting
  22. thanks everyone.i cant get greedy i got most idea's off the link above. We will see how this build goes. great thing is if i dont like i always have the trailer from to start from scratch with.a few mounting bolts and the box comes right off.i have my seat pads, tackle boxs, anchor, life jackets, rod(detached) only thing that wont fit and i shold have mad bigger to fit are the oars. once i get a troller it should fit as well. makes less clutter in my car..lol
  23. andddd New England blows it. they played horrible....Ray Lewis is a dirtbag, great football player, dirtbag person
  24. There is a steel yard next town over im going to pick up the extended tongue from. ya im sketching up an idea for a possible add on for a second rig on top. would be able to take it on and off. for now im just going to finish this up.
