There was an 8.47 caught last June in Northern Lower Michigan. That was the biggest I have heard of in Michigan in a while.

What are those green looking fish your catching out in Erie???!!! I thought they were all brown out there?!!! Nice work, very brave! Is it spring yet? :'( Jeff

Both of those lakes are loaded with bass. Bellaire has the smallie hogs, while Intermediate has more of a mix. They are not connected or at least passable by boat. I would fish them both. Bellaire is connected to a huge chain of lakes made up of Clam, Torch, skegmog, and Elk. Intermediate is also a chain but is connected to skinnier water-river- Largemouth type stuff. Try posting on the Michigan Sportsman forum to get more specific information. Good luck! Jeff

Sorry about your injury, that really sucks. :-[ I guess when you live on the lake you are able to check the conditions before going out. It sure can get rough out there! I can't imagine having back problems and fishing St. Clair on a windy/busy day! A friend of mine had his best day ever out there last week. Over 60 fish and 10+ larger than 6lb. To further what stratosdriver was saying- not all fish spawn at the same time. If you find fish on beds (a spawning flat) go backwards to the first drop off and you should be able to find pre or post spawners. You can catch them without harming the smallie population. Just a thought, Jeff

In the summer a do nothing baits like a senko or tube will do wonders for smallies. Cast them out and spend 5 minutes to slowly reel them back in. If you have the fish located like you mentioned this should work. As far as live bait, in my opinion, as long as you are not "gut" hooking fish then who cares? When I see people using worms and gut hooking fish they don't intend on keeping, it makes me a bit upset. A barbless circle hook will do wonders to prevent such tragedies. Jeff

Does the statewide season not open until the last Friday in May. I am not sure if you can target smallies on LSC early or not. I would look it up and find out for sure. Jeff

I know it is a bit up the road, but Alpena has a bass club. They fish all over northern michigan, not just near Alpena. They have a website that lists all of their tourney's. Check it out. I know some of the guys and they are nice people and good fisherman. A good group to be in. Jeff

Who goes to Dick's looking for advice or help? Whenever I go to most stores I do not ask for help nor do I want to talk to anyone working there. I just want my stuff and then it is to the register for me. Dicks is only good for some quick picks the night before a tourney. If I am doing major shopping I will go to Cabelas or BPS. Even then I only want help finding the aisle with hooks, or where are the worms at? That is the limit to any help that I would want from a store employee. I am not bashing employees, that just isn't the place I go to for advice or help. Jeff

Since there only appears to be a few people on the side of Ricky Boobie I am quite aware of your tireless devotion to defending his irresponsible and dangerous actions. I applaud your effort Yes I am quite aware of what a trolling motor is, and the way those boats were stacked up and keeping a respectful and safe distance from Randy, I really am unsure where they could have gone with the amount of time they had to react. I like you cannot be persuaded to change my opinion of this unfortunate incident. I think we should just agree to disagree concearning Mr. Boobie. Tight lines- Jeff

I do believe that eastkybass finally hit it on the head. IKE fishes in the wrong trail. There may have been more going on behind the scenes that we don't know. It is all gross speculation. The one thing that requires no speculation is...what Ricky Booby did was stupid and I really can't believe that people think that a stationary boat watching an angler needs to see some dope flying at them, start there boats and get out of the way, all in a manner of a few seconds. I just don't get it??? Jeff

I know KVD does not use his stuff. He uses the top of the line Quantum stuff. His stuff is not top of the line.

Amen brother. Ike is out of the top 10 the entire time and im quite sure that besides G-idiot's boat clip, he gets the most TV time. How about the Federation guy who did so well? Or Duckett, the first timer local guy who led day one? How about KVD's move on day two? Joke, the whole thing.

As I am sitting here watching Mr. Duckett on TV I think to myself how refreshing. He is catching fish without screaming, dancing, no neon hair...just a guy out fishing. I was wishing KVD or Klein would have won, but so far it appears that a new gentleman won and I am happy about that!

BASS's coverage of him stunk yesterday. We all got to see Ricky Booby driving his boat like an idiot 20 times in two hours. We got to see Ike fishing, and stories about him from the past about 5 times. The only KVD coverage was about his buddy in the accident. Maybe we can all pitch in and send KVD some break dancing videos or some bleach for his hair so that he can get some TV time. I guess being the best bass fisherman on the planet doesn't count? I would like to see him win this, AOTY, and then go to the FLW for a few years and dominate. Just to prove that no one can touch him. Get away from BASS before it turns into some sort of Pay-per-view wrestling/fishing type of deal. Right on brother! Jeff

This is ridiculous logic. The fact is, he was on plane and came within feet of another boat. It is very unsafe, stupid, and both he and BASS should be embarrassed. I can't believe they are showing this on TV as much as they are. I guess any publicity is good publicity? It really doesn't matter if Randy waved him through, it is not his call. It is nobody's call as to how close you can drive your boat on plane next to boats like that. There are laws/rules about that and this little thing called common sense, which Ricky Booby (yes booby) seems to lack. This is an embarrassment for all tournament anglers. Can someone from BAMA please post the rules on this subject I am curious. How about that KVD?!!! Jeff
