  1. The SS SV is definitely on my radar as the next Daiwa to add to my arsenal, but the old model zillion being at the price they are now has pushed the SS SV down the list a little.
  2. This is a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing.
  3. So, how do you explain that I can go out any day, and at any time of the month with a junebug zoom finesse worm and catch fish? I don't buy into the stealthy, moon phase, changing your lure every 5 minutes theory you've explained in the posts on this thread. The fish are feeding, or they are not. If you are in an area and they are not feeling then move on to the next spot. Since taking this approach I very rarely meet up with the "skunk".
  4. This perfectly explains it!
  5. Wow! What wonderful wizardry with worms, WRB.
  6. $24 in lost lures in a year? You're not fishing enough then. My replacement costs for the soft plastics I go through every year is probably a few hundred. I can't even tell you what it is on line, hooks, and tungsten weights. I've fortunate that I've only lost about 5 hard baits this season. I am unfortunate because 3 of them were LC pointers.
  7. EBay? Tungsten, in general, is expensive regardless of where you buy it. The auction site may save you a few cents.
  8. I personally keep the boxes. For me I take apart my setups in the winter, and store the reels in the boxes. It's an organization thing. It's not a deal breaker if I am buying a reel without the box, but I would pay a slightly higher price if the box and paperwork is included.
  9. Isopropyl in 70%, or 99% concentration is an effective solvent with the only drawback being the odor. It's used in cleaning certain computer parts, and widely used in the medical field to clean & sterilize various instruments and surfaces. I would be careful about using it around "soft" materials like the knobs of your handle as it can cause some breakdown of the material - it commonly happens to stethescope tubing when cleaned with an alcohol prep pad. I personally use Simple Green and an old toothbrush as it is more tolerable to my sense of smell. I don't care for the smell of isopropyl alcohol.
  10. Yes, I've called off sick to go fishing. I'm actually starting a new job this coming Monday, and rather than finish out the work week I quit today so I can get an extra day of fishing in before I start at the new company.
  11. I will use either flat side down & flat side up depending on the colors of the layer. If it's a solid color i don't even pay attention to the flat size. I'm more concerned with how the worm is rigged on the hook like J Francho stated.
  12. I t-rig these with a Trokar tube hook, and a small unpegged bullet weight.
  13. I never use them, and if a lure comes with it I remove it immediately.
  14. I'm happy I bought a 1lb spool of 10# test (5800 yards) when I found it a year or so ago. I'll be good for a while. ☺
  15. Next year I want to try the Megabass Vision jerkbaits, the Jackall cross tail shad, and the Megabass Pop X.
  16. I got one of their lipless crankbaits, the Dante VIB. Perhaps the worst lipless CB I've ever used. Won't run straight to save it's life, and starts to spiral on a very fast retrieve. The finish is very nice, but just because it looks like a renaissance masterpiece doesn't make them good. Maybe I got a bad one? I've since removed the hooks and attached it to my car keys.
  17. At night I have a jitterbug and a buzzbait tied on. Don't bring anything else except for coffee.
  18. Add them to the lure. If the hooks get tangled up you've got hooks that are too big.
  19. I don't think it's either of the two suggested. I just checked all my Cordell spots and SK diamond shads and the eyes are not located that far to the front.
  20. I'm using the Premier ML/F for dropshot. Does just fine.
  21. Does this apply to all your spinnerbaits? If so, I have one you can buy back from me.
  22. One of the best things I learned to do in the spring and fall is to completely remove the skirt and add a keitech swing impact 4" trailer.
  23. Black, junebug, and green pumpkin are colors that will work well. Try some zoom trick worms, Rage Tail craws, and Missile Baits baby dbombs. Hooks in sizes 1/0 to 3/0 EWG. Whatever brand you like.
  24. I'm very interested, but I am going to grab a few more of the old model before.
