  1. I just received a "new to me" Daiwa Fuego through the flea market. Now the bait monkey is riding me hard on getting a rod to pair it with.
  2. I like the Rapala DT Flat line of lures, or just a good old rattle trap style bait.
  3. Wouldn't this be where a jika rig would be a better option?
  4. Black has been my best producer. Green pumpkin is a close second.
  5. Check the auction site for Daiwa Tatula rods. You can get one in your price range.
  6. I'd bring along a lipless crankbait, too.
  7. With the right equipment it's not that difficult.
  8. PB&J has become my go-to color, but it's barely edging out black w/ blue. Just barely.
  9. I thought I would revisit this topic since I've had an entire season to use the Smackdown and have a much better & informed opinion on the product. Pros: It is very smooth compared to even other 8 carrier braids I've used. The line diameter is slimmer compared to other similar # test of competitors braids I've used. If noise is an issue for you then Smackdown is a great choice as it seemed so much quieter thank others I have used in the past. Very supple and has great line management. I've found that even with the thinner diameter it doesn't have the "digging in" issue that others have. Cons: Not the most shock resistant. On one occasion I had my spool loosened up way to much & created the start of a glorious birdsnest. As everything wound around itself and the cast came to a screeching halt the line snapped - rather easily. Though it was easy to untangle the mess I had created I did feel that a similar situation with perhaps Power Pro would not have snapped as easily. Upfront cost: It's pricey, but at the end of the day with braid being able to be used for several years it almost becomes a non-issue. Abrasion resistance. With the thinner diameter to # test of the line I would definitely recommend using a leader if fishing around docks and rocks. To sum up my feelings. The pros far outweigh the cons for Smackdown & the way I fish. Others may have a different experience, but moving forward I will be using only this product for my choice of braided line.
  10. That sounds like my breakfast on the drive to the lake.
  11. We have an annual benefit tournament to help raise funds for the children's unit of Metrohealth hospital. This was the 19th year, and we've raised enough this year for the hospital to purchase a sensory tube for kids with special needs. We usually have 100+ boats show up! Here's the video from this year's event. Central Basin 2014: What do you love most about your club?
  12. I remember that show. You had to stop by the ham and diapers to even think you'd have a chance to win on that show!
  13. It's been awhile since any posts! How was the fishing for everyone? I had a pretty good year, especially out on Lake Erie going after the brown fish.
  14. Reel brands: 2; Daiwa, Pfleuger Rod brands: 6; Duckett, Daiwa, G. Loomis, St. Croix, Abu Garcia, and BPS.
  15. Beef/deer/buffalo jerry, gatorade, protein bars of some sort.
  16. I completely agree about being able to get a great reel on the flea market if you're willing to go with a used one.
  17. I thought it was implied.
  18. More and more of my soft plastics are being bought in Junebug. Black with blue flake is second. Hard baits are all over the place, and since they seem to be bought on pure impulse I buy whatever looks pretty.
  19. *drool* Those are some beautiful Daiwa reels! That Ito is one I need/want for my collection!
  20. Did you forget to add me? I pm'd you on November 5th. I thought I met all the criteria.
  21. Keitech swing impact & impact fat on a chatterbait. Finesse worm fishing/light tackle fishing with a baitcaster - got the correct gear for it. Snag proof kicker frog
  22. Certainly one of the first places I'd shop if I won the lottery!
  23. Thanks, that was some good reading right there. LOL!
