  1. I've enjoyed reading Bass Resource's lead article, "Cabin Fever? 25 Things To Do In Downtime." I've read it twice and intend to read it again.
  2. Heck, yeah. I'm up to 44 ponds I want to fish in 2023, 10 from last year and 34 new ones. Of course, I won't be able to fish all of them because I'll find some favorites that I'll want to fish several times, but I'm feeling like a kid outside a candy shop with my face pressed against the window, waiting and waiting for the shop owner to flip the sign from "CLOSED" to "OPEN"! So, I study and study them on Google Earth and study the Maine Fish and Wildlife depth maps too and plan where I'll fish first and second and....
  3. If I want to work an area for a little bit, I'd paddle my canoe atop the thickest weeds, which usually hold it in place. I also fish the days with less wind, but an anchor would let me fish the windier days. Hmmm.
  4. This might sound a little strange, but I awoke this morning happy for Alex. We've all had a good evening of fishing and awoke the next morning happy for all the bass we caught, but today, I had that same giddiness, except my first thought was, "Alex caught all those big bass!" And I was grinning, remembering Alex's video and photos. Sincerely, A Yankee who hasn't caught a beautiful bass for more than a couple months, but is happy when her Southern cyber-pals do
  5. When I fish out of a canoe with a partner, he's always in the bow and I'm always in the stern because I know where the bass are and the stern steers. I've never felt disadvantaged casting from the back.
  6. Thank goodness we don't have to be rich to catch fish! And thank goodness for Glenn.
  7. What a great story, Alex! And what a good, good man.
  8. Alex, wouldn't you win many big tournaments with that bag? I know this: You sure have won my respect for your skill, tenacity, and joy.
  9. You need that much storage since you're posting fish photos and videos 12 months a year! Now that I'm able, I just deleted 10 Mb of photos. That's me being optimistic for 2023.
  10. @TnRiver46 Yep, those are jumbo. Yellow perch are my favorite fish to eat. Sweet and nutty!
  11. I have never seen a perch as long and skinny as the one your caught. Maine yellow perch have Cro-magnon brows. Strangely, Mainers don't fish for yellow perch, which is likely why they're jumbo. Mainers love to catch and eat white perch. I'm going to catch and clean some next summer and I'll photograph them so you can see how bulgy they are. Speaking of white perch, your bluegill on the bottom looks like one. So pale!
  12. Yep, it's fixed! Thanks, Glenn, and thanks to all the others who offered solutions.
  13. Good photos, @LrgmouthShad! Nice catch too!
  14. I never anchor. I try to catch the most active fish, so perpetual movement serves me. I don't work an area. I work the lake/pond/bog. It doesn't take much of a breeze to move my lightweight canoe. Heck, the bass move my canoe too, which serves my fishing strategy of "Perpetual Motion Fishing(TM)."
  15. Orcas even kill blue whales! Roadwarrior is lucky to have survived. Look at the eye of RW's orca. It's eyeing the cameraperson and thinking, "Come a little closer, please." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEo5YUdEhg0 When RW first saw his orca in the water, he said, "We're going to need a bigger boat." Here's the video of that moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT9BeGNnCqw
  16. And I just got off the phone with Scott and he is super nice! Yeah, my screen doesn't look like Alex's screenshot.
  17. Scott, I tried randomly clicking to the right of the threads' names, thinking they might be invisible on my screen. Nada. And I tried downsizing and upsizing the entire screen. Nada again. I feel badly I'm using way more of Glenn's storage than I should and that I can't do anything to fix it.
  18. Based on its size, I'm sticking with oddly-striped orca.
  19. Thanks for replying, Scott. I know the sort of box you're thinking I should click, but there are no boxes when I load My Attachments for any of my images.
  20. So, I got this scary message: "You have used 20.01 MB of your 1.17 MB attachment limit." And I searched "how to delete photos" and found an old A-Jay post where he said you go to My Attachments and then select the photo and then delete it, but I'm unable to select the photo. I click in various places and either makes the photo enlarge or it downloads it. A little help?
  21. Strange. ^That^ orca has the same coloration as a smallmouth.
  22. Ha! I wouldn't want that curse. When you win that big, thousands of strangers feel free to beg you for money. Wait. I could take the money, build a 500-acre lake, hire Bob and Alex to raise giant bass, and live on an island. Tim could be the admiral of my Navy, which would patrol the water to let me fish in peace.
  23. I caught a largemouth bass with with an oar. I was rowing through some riffles and my oar flipped a bass out of the water and onto my sister. She wasn't happy, but I was.
  24. I hooked a beaver. I hated hooking that guy, but luckily I was jig fishing, so there was only one hook. I also caught a crawdad that someone has tied to a partial cinder block. Weird, huh? Given the size of the handle's knob, I don't think anyone would want that back.
  25. That's a heckuva top five from the shore!
