  1. Yes, along with polishing the spool shaft and the inside of the pinion gear, etc.
  2. Pb blaster is a lot stronger than wd40.
  3. I personally have found the oil packaged with the revos too thick for bearings with the same experience you got. I bought a brand new reel. Cast it a few times to get a feel. Then flushed the bearings and relubed with the abu oil and the casting distance dropped quite a bit. Reflushed them and lubed them with a lighter oil and all was well. I just use it to oil the levelwind gearing.
  4. You guys that are having problems with hot sauce, how long are you keeping it in your reels? How often do you fish? I'm not arguing for hot sauce, I just haven't had any of the problems I'm reading about. I do clean and regrease my reels once a year just for something to do over the winter, and I don't get to fish nearly as often as I'd like. I'm just curious if it really is a substandard grease and I should switch, or if its ok for my lighter use.
  5. I have an sx30. It's a pretty nice reel. It's pretty d**n smooth, but I'm not sure it's $160 smooth. Ive played with cheaper reels that were just as smooth or smoother. The funny thing is they let me feel it in the store with the handle on the left side and it felt great. I put it on the right side and its got a little tick to it. I'll probably end up taking it back. Unfortunately I've only fished it once so i cant say much more about it than above, but it did great with 15# braid. I did catch a 2 lb channel cat and it felt good. There are a couple reviews online and they all say very positive things about it.
  6. Like what? I've never had any issues with it. It has cleaned off all my gears without staining anything. I've never gotten any on my handles.
  7. And it's quite easy to do. I just replaced 2 tips using that same kit.
  8. Is your anti-reverse switch off? The bail would be spinning and not the spool if this was the case.
  9. Where are you guys getting the model names? I've looked at TW and SK.com and all I see are numbers?
  10. Actually, Patients - People who go to see a dr.
  11. I bought a *** *** Black 7'3" M spinning rod.
  12. My local Walmart has them clearanced at $75. Or you might get lucky and get one mismarked for $30. Be careful though. I was looking for a spinning rod and couldn't find one without cracked epoxy and eyes pulling out.
  13. I had a non instant anti reverse reel. I never noticed much of a difference fishing. The only thing I did notice was that it was a pain in the ass to get anything to stay attached to the rod hook keeper.
  14. I've rigged weights like this a couple times. I don't know if its a good idea or not, but its worked with no problems in a pinch.
  15. Is the rod the bionic blade or the bionic plus? 2 different things, with the blade being the better(more expensive) of the 2. Maybe they're the same blank with different guides,I dont know, but I doubt it.
  16. According to the manager at my bps, the main difference between the pro qualifier and the 100mph jacket is the 100mph supposedly is insulated with thinsulate. I couldn't find this stated anywhere else though. Nor did he know the rating.
  17. How old are they? Unless you're trying to actually teach them how to fish, I'd say some decent mono line, a bobber, snells, and some worms.
  18. Carbonlite microguide. Or even the normal guided version.
  19. I started as a kid with my father and stepfather. My dad took us to lakes and ponds and I remember bobber fishing with him. My stepdad took us to the river to cat fish. As I got older I didn't fish much, I really got into cars. I did that until a few years ago. Sold my car and tools and picked up a fishing pole. Been doing that ever since.
  20. Oh. That makes sense. Thanks!
  21. When you say the upper end of the lake, do you mean northern end? Or is there a specific feature that defines the upper end? I'm still pretty new at this and trying to figure out the lake lingo. Thanks.
  22. I picked up a revo sx 30 and a BPS carbonlite rod to go with it during the classic sale. My wife got me a revo sx baitcaster for our anniversary at the end of October (if that counts as winter), which I paired with another carbonlite rod.
  23. I got a pair of fingerless fleece gloves from Bass Pro for about 5 bucks. They keep my hands warm enough but I may trim down the fingers so my fingers are more exposed.
  24. I bet this is your problem. My practice plug spins and bounces around the grass and asphalt when i cast down the street quite a bit. Does line twist really matter on a baitcaster like it does on spinning reels?
  25. I picked up a Revo sx spinning reel and a 7'2" MF carbonlite rod. An Abu Cardinal S reel and a BPS microlite "glass" rod ultralight setup. A few bags of superflukes and a few bags of worms and some other misc. things. I tried to convince my wife to buy me another baitcaster, but she wasn't having it.
