  1. It has less stretch than invizx. The only other flouro I've used is pline flouroclear and I would say they're similar. The only real difference I can tell between the pline and yozuri is the pline has a little more memory.
  2. I did actually try this out in the street once. I did several casts setting the levelwind in the center vs leaving it wherever it stopped and I didn't notice any kind of difference in distance or casting effort. Certainly not a difference worth the trouble of centering it each cast. I did even line it up on the extreme edges on either side.
  3. I personally would jump on the promax for $35. I don't have any experience with the other reels though.
  4. I've noticed this problem at that store also. I just open the packs and pull one out to further examine it, hold it up in the light, etc.
  5. I am also a big fan of my SXs. Both 2nd and 3rd gen.
  6. ^^^^^Which product of their's do you use? I see they have several. Thanks.
  7. In my experience it has been accurate some times and not relevant at others. I've watched the fishing activity pick up as the peak hours came on and then rapidly drop off as they expired. I've been out at night on full moons and not caught a thing. I've caught fish during the worst hours of the worst days. I did go out the other day during the peak hours of the full moon in the afternoon and had the best fishing I've ever had at this place. It did quickly die off as the peak hours passed. It's just another tool amongst many.
  8. I have the hawg seeker bite alert combo. It's extremely heavy and the reel feels very cheap for its price. But the bite alert part works pretty well and is a pretty novel concept.
  9. Sounds good! Looking forward to it!
  10. Have you had a chance to test it out? Really tempted to get one, but I'd like some opinions first. Ideally, get my hands on one first.
  11. I used to do this as a kid and hated spinning reels because of it. Then I found out you could magically switch the handle around! Love spinning reels now.
  12. I don't know, but TW also has the 2500 and 3000s in stock!
  13. I've seen a couple websites that say they have some in stock and ready to ship! Here's one, can't remember the other. http://www.meltontackle.com/products/shimano-stradic-ci4-plus-reels.html
  14. Why will it be different?
  15. Oh that sucks. I was just thinking about getting one of these. I will be looking into other options. Have you tried calling Abu/Pure Fishing anyways and explaining the situation? They may (or may not) help you out. The worst they can do is say no.
  16. If its the reel I'm thinking of, I bought two, also for 39.99. I liked them and they felt like decent reels, but I couldn't get a casting distance worth a d**n out of either of them. It felt like something was holding them back. I couldn't get them to even hardly backlash with the brakes off. Other than my casting issues, they seemed to be decent reels, especially for the money.
  17. i used to get pains in my hand and wrist too after a couple few hours of fishing. I switched to carbonlite rods and and took effort to balance it out. It has helped alot.
  18. I don't think so. Buying a $40 set of pliers to use them once is silly. If one is going to do it on a regular basis, sure. I've been using this method for a few years now on several reels (and several other applications where I've needed to remove pins) with zero problem, and I don't see how you could bend a spool shaft this way. If you can show me where someone has bent their shaft this way, I will be happy to edit my posts.
  19. I just use a regular pair of pliers wrapped in electrical tape. I **** them just enough to not pinch the pin on both sides. A solid steady squeeze will get it started, then I just pull it out with needle nose pliers (also wrapped with tape). It will probably be frowned upon but it has worked for me. I haven't bent/broken anything. I will eventually drill a hole or something to make them proper. If it's an old and/or rusted reel, I wouldn't necessarily try this without soaking it in your favorite penetrant first.
  20. Spool bearings and drag disc(s) are simple enough to replace. Clean and relube while you're at it. You could go as far as the "supertuning" process yourself, or send them in and have it done.
  21. Yes you should. I would say BPS Pro qualifier. They're on sale for $80 fairly often. Or Abu Garcia black max or silver max. They seem to get decent reviews. I don't know of any classes, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube or probably around here. The way I learned was just by following the directions that came with the reel and practiced general casting in the yard/street. I also watched a lot of videos to learn different casting techniques.
  22. I bet you're right about using splicing tape. We'll see how the electrical tape holds up as it gets warmer out. I may just have to go pick up some splicing tape. Splicing tape is heavier too, if I'm thinking of the same stuff you are.
  23. Depending on how "off balance" it is, I just wrapped electrical tape on the back of the handle in front of the handle end. It balanced mine pretty well and I don't notice the tape while fishing. It's not fancy, but cheap and easy, although I use relatively expensive tape.
