Acetone Question For Bearings.
Oh. The crap my wife uses is only like 30% or something like that. If it's 100% acetone, how does it have any denatonium benzoate in it? Or is that a component of acetone?

Acetone Question For Bearings.
I don't know if that specific chemical would affect bearings or not, but I would go to the hardware store and get regular acetone regardless. Nail polish remover is only a percentage of acetone and who knows what else.

Baitcasting Reel For $150
You could possibly get the new chronarch to less than $150 depending on how much you have for gift cards. That's my plan.

Does Noise Actually Bother You?
^^^ha ha. Didn't even think about the radio. My dad likes to play a radio while fishing and it bugs the heck out of me too. Fishing is my quiet time

Does Noise Actually Bother You?
I like the bearing noise on a cast actually. Don't know why. The braid/guide sometimes bothers me if it's really quiet at the lake. Noise from my spinning reels drives me up the wall when the lake is quiet and I'm finesse fishing.

Why Do Baitcasters Come In Different Gear Ratios, But Spinning Reels Come In Different Sizes?
My guess is cuz its a lot easier to make spinning reels different sizes. It's basically the same frame/gearbox just scaled down. A lot of them use the same frame and gearbox, just a different sized spool. For a baitcaster this could require a complete frame design to fit a different sized spool (50,100,etc) and keep the overall size relatively the same. Look at the shimano core, completely different frame for the 50 size reel vs the larger size(s).

For The Shimano Posse
My local bass pro had the Ci4s down to 149. They didn't last long.

Good Light H Punching Rod Around $100
I got a 7' H carbonlite microguide that I really like. I haven't used it for punching though. It's rated to 1 1/2 oz.

Chronarch Ci4+
Thank you for all the replies guys. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the chronarch. I got a couple gift cards from bass pro, a stack of rewards points, and hopefully a reel trade in during the classic, so I should be able to get it pretty cheap, relatively. I'll let you know when the time comes.

Which Lube For You?
Schematics works.

Which Lube For You?
There should've been a exploded parts SCHEMATIC with your reel, or you should be able to find one on the manufacturers website. They can/will help a lot during reel maintenance. Especially when you drop an opened reel and parts go flying.

4 - 6Lb Nanofil
I have used 6# for the same as above with good luck. I personally really like nanofil. It's a dream to cast and I like fishing with it. However, as said above, it has poor abrasion resistance. I've been able to horse fish through weeds and bring up a pound or two of slop with them with no problems, but I've broke it off several times very easily on rocks.

Chronarch Ci4+
Thanks for the responses guys, and the review Dr. Watson. I have considered a core, but that's getting out of my price range. Any other reels that I should be considering besides the mgx or shimano? I'm largely an abu guy, but I don't limit myself to them. I just buy what has worked for me.

Chronarch Ci4+
I am looking into get a new Chronarch in the near future. I've read plenty of positive reviews. Does anyone have anything negative to say about it? I also have the opportunity to get a lightly used mgx for about the same price. Which reel would I be better off with? I'm looking for something for light baits. Thanks.

Do You Know Where This Stuff Is Actually Built?
I'm pretty sure those china deals are largely the same reels we pay hundreds for. They may be leftover parts left from an order, but they're the same parts. We pay for shipping to US, advertising and marketing, trade shows, CEO perks, employee salaries, and the ever increasing shareholder return. The retailers also need to make a profit from selling these reels. I do know the employee purchase program for a large fishing company is 70% off retail, and in sure they still make a profit from that, if that gives you any idea what kind of markup there is. So if you take $150 reel, with 70% off its $45. Profit still made. It probably cost the fishing co $20 to make this reel. It probably cost the factory in china, Korea, wherever, a handful of dollars to make the reel. Markups are usually determined with percentages, therefore the higher the reel's retail, also the higher the markup.

Saros Vs Symetre Vs Revo Sx
I had the SX for a bit. Its a nice reel, but I'm not sure it's any better than anything else closer to $100. You do get a spare spool. I haven't used one, but from playing with reels at the store, I would second the Lexa.

Carbonlite Rods?
If you can, I'd wait till the spring classic rod trade in. They usually go on sale, plus whatever they give you for rod trade in. I got a micro guide model for around $80 I think. Or you just be able to get a non micro guide version for less than that. Great rod at that price for sure.

Rod Reel Combo For 6 Year Old
I bought my one year old a *** ambition rod and a shimano Sedona 500 size reel. He loves to play with rods. He grabs for them whenever we go to bass pro. We've been practicing cranking the reel which he seems to do pretty well with. However, his favorite thing to do with it is poke at the cat. I plan on taking him fishing sometime this spring. He'll be almost 2 by then. Yes, it may be excessive for a child, but I plan on using it too, so there was a little ulterior motive.

Spinning Setup Balance
^^^i agree. My suggestion was more in general I guess.

Spinning Setup Balance
If you find it's tip heavy you can always add something to the handle to help balance it out. I use rubber electrical tape. It's heavier than standard vinyl tape and works pretty well without adding much bulk. There are several other ways to balance a setup.

Braid Cutting
I got a set of KVD cutters from Walmart that work really well. They're pretty small and were around $10.

Abu Garcia Revo Sx, Etc.
I have two gen3 SXs and a 2nd gen SX. I like them both, but I like the 3rd gens better. I got the 3rd gens first, and the 2nd gen felt like a step backwards after I got it. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with them. I had the thumb bar issue once, but it happened when my thumb slipped off during a cast and I hit the handle. The whole rig almost slipped out of my hands into the water so I don't really blame the reel (too much KVD L&L). I also did take them apart, degrease, and relube them shortly after I got them so maybe that has something to do with it. But, if you didn't like the black max, you may not like the SX cuz they have similar/same braking systems; magnetics only. You may look at the STX as it has both mags and centrifugal brakes. I can't say anything about the lews or any other reels as the revos are the only thing I've used besides a couple bass pro reels. I wouldn't mind trying out those new tatulas though. That T-wing deal looks kinda slick. Hope this helps.
