I 4600 c3 & c4's love these reels. use them for everything. the only time I use a low profile reel is for punching/flipping.I also use the older pro max and black max 1600's.round reels are like little winches.

all of my spinning rods I have built and have Tennessee handles. don't like it when the nuts loosen up. top or bottom.that's the #1 reason I started building my own rods. could never find what I wanted so I build them now.

I use old style Lews pistol grips or older Team Daiwa casting rods that are 20 plus years old.those handles are almost flat. reel sits low on the handle with both designs. all of my Ambassadeurs are mounted on these rods.

I have an old Team Daiwa 6" med action casting rod. Larry Nixon model that I have my 1600 Morrum on it. great combo.light for what it is, but works great.

probably put to much lube in it.check your settings also, you might have tightened it up.
