  1. Nice. The dog at the end made me chuckle ...
  2. I personally don't care what it says. If it's good enough for me to fish then I go. Catching is a whole other discussion.
  3. Congrats! Awesome Smallie
  4. Smallest - Keitech 2" Spider on a 1/8oz jig Largest - 5 inch SavageGear Craw. Caught my first yesterday on it.
  5. ... another side note ... when spooling it up make sure it is being packed in tightly. Otherwise you are asking for more trouble. Again ... so I heard. 40lb Braid min for baitcasters for me.
  6. Unless the spool is designed for no backing I would always put a backing on before putting the Braid on. The Black Max is the same as my Pro and Silvers in that their spool is not designed for braid. So I would recommend a little backing of Mono before filling the rest with braid. Without it you will feel like the line is slipping. You will think it's your drag or something wrong with your reel when it's caused by the braid not being able to hold on to the spool when reeling against a good fish. Not that had ever happened to me ...
  7. Mono every year. FC only if memory is causing me issues. Braid rarely if at all.
  8. OOps ... just posted the same vid. Missed this post. Sick Fish ... no pun intended. LOL
  9. Makes my 5.89lb PB Smallie look like that lure. LOL
  10. I was curious about this as well ... RW you make perfect sense. Sometimes the best advice just needs to be simple enough to smack you over the head. - Thanks
  11. Congrats! Way to go. Hope you put her back because I will be down there next Thursday thru Sunday.
  12. I am partial to two different shakey heads 1 - VMC Rugby 2 - Megastrike Shakey 2 Head For 6 FOW or less I generally go no heavier than a 1/4 oz. (1/8, 3/16 or 1/4)
  13. I challenged my kids when they used the word "Funner" and what they said to me made me crack up. "Funner is more fun than more fun." As for the post ... I don't know if it's "Funner" per-se. I will tell you that my spinning setups are generally with light line (8lb Invizx) so I get anxious when I have a big bite on it. Maybe that is where the "funner" part comes into play. It's kicks the nerves into high gear.
  14. I would go straight FC ... For all purpose I use 15lb Seaguar InvizX. This is what I use on my "go-to" bank fishing rod.
  15. It doesn't matter as long as you get the job done. I think I still suck at it but I am getting better.
  16. If you have the time to spend then spend it fishing. Worst case you will not catch anything but you will still be fishing.
  17. Crazy how quickly the weather can turn. Glad you are ok. I am a novice with my Yak so this helps keep me alert for any craziness like that. Side note - Maybe if you had a 3oz Spinnerbait you would have caught something in those waves.
  18. Similar Diameter - Find your leader diameter and spool the reel with a braid which is similar in size. Close is what counts here. Knot choice makes a big difference in getting through the guides. Uni to Uni, Albright, Alberto knots are all common. Alberto is the thinnest but I suck at tying them. LOL Personally I don't use braid on baitcasters with the exception of my flipping setups. On those I don't use a leader. Good luck.
  19. Wow ... Black/Red is one of my alltime favorite combos. Where was this at the Suffern Show. Gotta get me some of these.
  20. They definitely work! Can't wait to try that color!
  21. I will let you know after I come back from the Hudson River trip tonight.
  22. Why isn't InvizX on the list. I swear by that line for almost everything. 8lb all the way to 20lb.
  23. Freakin' sick! Nice lunker there.
