Tournament Cheat Goes To Jail
Glad he was caught. I guess when there is money involved there will inevitably be someone who will cheat to get it. Sad actually ...

Broke Rod Tip On Hookset, What To Do?
If you happen to have a DSG scorecard they could look up the purchase. I don't know how far back they keep track of things but I just went through something similar with a purchase. No receipt but they found it when they looked it up by my scorecard. That was as good as a receipt to them and they took the return.

Weedless Wacky Hook Issues
Dude ... you were spot on with these tips. I dedicated yesterday to fishing these wacky hooks and I didn't miss a single fish! The wire keeper didn't last too long though. About 3 fish and then one end snapped off. Now I have a non-weedless hook. I will take that over a missed fish any day!

Livewell Additives - Which One Works For You?
Wow ... sounds like an adrenaline shot for fish! Maybe good in the short term but not long term. This came to mind as soon as I read your post ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFYGx1KgKE8 Agree with you ... sounds contradictory to what you want to do with a caught fish.

Shakey Head Worms??
Zoom regular and magnum shakey worms, trick worms, finesse worms. Just tried the squirrel tails and they are good as well because they float.

Livewell Additives - Which One Works For You?
I found a 3rd, Rejuvenade. Seems like all the sites leave a lot to be desired when it comes to information. Let's hope this site (this post) helps change that.

Bank Fishers - What Tackle Box?
I have a simple backpack with one plano 3600 for various lures and a 3601 (skinny 3600) for terminal tackle. Plastics (4-5 bags) go in the bookbag as well. Get's me through a day on the banks.

Livewell Additives - Which One Works For You?
There are a few out there. None more popular than "Please release me". I just came across an angler who swears by the U2 formula. Oxygenator U2 formula is the full name I believe. Are there others? Which one do you use and why? Thanks

Pickerel Lures
Already said above ... anything you would throw for bass. Especially spinnerbaits and swimbaits like the Havoc Subwoofer work for me.

What Do You Use For Deep Shakey Heads?
10 lb braid or 10-12 lb fc. I caught my lunker Smallie (5.89lb) on a 1/2oz Sharkey head in 33 feet last Oct. I love Sharkey head fishing.

Why Do You Sort Out For Fishing Tournaments??
IMO joining a league is the best way for "future" boat owners (aka co anglers) to learn about the sport. I make new friends, learn a ton and get to fish. I hear you might paired with an a-hole from time to time but so far in 2 years I have been blessed with some good draws.

Golf Course Fishing
I travel about 45 minutes to hit a golf course who has given me permission to fish their ponds. There are some sweet fish in there. Some well over 5lbs and numbers which would boost the confidence of any beginner. I like this forum even more after what Glenn/Flukemstr did. Kudos guys!!!

Spinnerbaits
I would use a 6.x:1 ratio reel to start with. Works for me.

Spinnerbaits
This is my all time favorite power fishing technique. It's always the 1st thing I throw in a tournament if the conditions dictate power fishing. If I were going to suggest a place to start with spinnerbaits I would suggest the following. Buy a 3/8 white/chartreuse spinnerbait. Megastrike is a sponsor and sells a dang good spinnerbait but I have also use Strike King with great success. Throw it on 12 - 15 fluorocarbon or mono. Whichever you prefer. Practice 3 techniques 1 - Burn it just under the surface. Cast it out and immediately start the retrieve. Try and keep the lure high in the water column. 2 - Moderate. Cast it out. Let it sink for a few seconds. Slowly retrieve back trying to keep it as in the middle part of the water column. Varying the speed will let it rise/sink around the middle of the water column. 3 - Slow Roll. Cast it out. Let it sink all the way to the bottom. Pop the rod tip up and begin your retrieve. If you think you are reeling it slow then it's NOT slow enough. You want to try and maintain bottom contact with this technique. The retrieve: Avoid solely a steady retrieve although they do want that sometime. Add some twitches of the rod tip or stop the retrieve for a moment and quickly start it back up. Both cause the blades to flare/collide. With those 3 techniques you can cover all levels of the water from about 2 feet - 10 feet. For starters I would keep it to that level (or shallower) until you get comfortable with the feel. As this as your base you can go deeper with heavier weight and try other retrieves which exist out there. This forum is filled with those other techniques (like yo-yo ing a spinnerbait) As with everything it takes time and practice. My nemesis is the fluke. I can't get a bite on it still!

Best Baitcast Rod
For the price the Abu Vengenace (sold in WalMart) are pretty good if you don't want to spend a lot of money. I was going to upgrade to Veritas until I read all the horrible reviews on this forum. I also was lucky enough to try them out and they felt too stiff for me. Meaning their Medium felt stiffer than other mediums I have tried. I recently discovered Rhapsody Rods and love them.

Beginner Baitcaster Setup.
That's nicer than most of my setups. My recommendation for a starter setup would be a 6'6" Medium baitcaster with a 6.x:1 reel. Perfect first baitcaster setup. I like Abu's too. My setups revolve around the Silver and Pro Max reels and Rhapsody Rod's.

New To Fishing.. Could Use Some Help
Welcome to the forum. My only suggestion is to keep things simple at first. Learn to texas rig a senko and throw a spinnerbait. Get a good feel for those and master catching fish with them. Those will become your finesse and power technique foundations. As you learn more from this forum, books, magazines & DVD's you will naturally want to try more. Don't be afraid to ask questions ... there is no stupid questions ... Good luck

Frog Toggs Rain Gear
I just got a chance to use my new Toadskinz Pants this past weekend at a tournament and I absolutely love them. For the price they do exactly what I need. Keep me dry. They are also comfortable and breathable. As a result I am probably going to get the matching jacket. Before that I was using a simple poncho for the top.

Fishing Docks As A Co-Angler
Thanks. No ... not a journalist. Just someone trying to learn this sport and share what I can on this forum.

Fishing Docks As A Co-Angler
He ended up finishing outside the top 17 for the boaters. Not sure exactly where since they only announced those. As for pitching light jigs ... The docks which seemed to hold fish were those that were combined with weeds. I tried the jig but it was getting too fowled up. Between the two of us we only ended up with one "cruiser" which he caught. They truly seemed to be at the edge of the docks facing the weeds. I think minus that cruiser that was how all the fish were caught.

Nitro Z6
I think the Z-6 is fine. Just make sure it's enough boat for the waters you intend to fish. I assume you know that already.
