@awohlwend and I hit gardner last night. Had some trailer issues that I needed to get resolved before the weekend. Water was more mossy then what it was last week. We caught several, most of shakey heads on the deep dock bank. Biggest was around 2.5 lbs. Hoping to get into some bigger fish this weeknd SOMEWHERE

I had several buddies who caught fish over 4 back then. Late Fall 2014 I saw 2 bass up on the dam that were both over 4. One had to be over 5. I have never caught anything even close to 2 pounds there. @Jake Johnson has seen some big ones in his boat several years ago I believe.

My wife's grandma was showing me pictures of fish they caught at her dad's farm when she was a child. They had a farm that had bull creek frontage near Paola just south of town. Huge carp & catfish mostly. She said they ate carp all the time and always thought it tasted great. Then she said. "we were so poor back then we were just happy to have something to eat". My dad has told me of eating carp when he was growing up too. I am probably in the minority here because I would definitely try any of it. Especially if someone else cleans and cooks it a weigh they claim it to be good. I never eat fish because my wife hates fish, but I even ate the occasional bass growing up, never thought they tasted "bad". All that being said, I haven't kept any fish other than trout(which I give away) for over 10 years, but I don't catch the tasty ones, leave that to @Ondrejka. One of these days someone needs to host a big fry. If it's in the spring I can try to provide some Morels.

I can believe it. I love that lake. Still stupid though. Even more stupid if it's not the same fish. I wonder how many good fish out there have cull tag holes.

Do they have tournaments on MC? Seems silly that someone would need to put a cull tag on that fish on that lake.

I was just about to say we were just north of there. It was her right side and i could almost fit my hole hand threw it. Awful hole.

I fished the River Pond from a canoe about 7 years ago. We went under the bridge and back in the creek area and tore em up. Glad to hear there is still healthy fish out there. Went back a couple years ago and didn't do so hot

I wondered what was going on! First time I have been there on a windy day and I was really surprised from what I have heard about that lake that we were not called off. We pulled out right before Clayton & Cootie

Ozarks Help
I used to work for SF and we would reimburse for covered tow claims that the customer paid- Worth checking.

That's my problem- I have two boats that I could potentially use there. Last year I bought all the JOCO stuff and fished SMP twice and never made it to Kill Creek. So I essentially paid $15 a day EXTRA to fish SMP. That's why I decided not to buy it this year.

I just think there are plenty 5+ ones left in there. Jake caught one well over 4 last year and he probably only fished the lake once. The year before that he caught one over 4 too and probably only fished it twice. If I didn't have to buy the JOCO crap I would fish there a lot. If I had to pick a place to catch a big one today I would go to SMP over Olathe without hesitation. Cedar has big ones in it too. Just SOOO many bank fisherman since they opened up the south side that its hardly worth putting the boat in.

I am torn on all of it. If it ends up like SMP, it basically means I will never fish it on the weekend. Besides, I have been fishing Olathe less and less every year. Only fished Cedar once last year.

I feel your pain (kinda). I snagged a carp flipping docks that doubled my Heavy action rod and for about 3 seconds thought I was going to be in the money. Also hooked up with a big gar dragging a C-Rig. That is unbelievable about the 3.01 though, cant make stuff like that up.
