  1. Went out to Olathe last night with my buddy. Water temp was 55, fishing was slow, I missed two and my buddy caught a dink on a jig. I never do very well out there early in the year.,
  2. I have to work until 4 30 or so, so I have to work until 4 30 or so, so I might just hit a closer lake. But if i end up out there and see you I will give you a holler! Thanks!
  3. I went to cedar in Olathe Saturday. Fished 4 hours and only caught 2 it was brutal. They were on the shallow side up close and there was so many bank fisherman on that side it made it hard to fish. One was just shy of 3 pounds. May try to go to Leavenworth tomorrow. Only fished there once about 5 years ago and it was only for an hour or so.
  4. That was on the Elk last summer near the Cowskin access. After an entire day of catching tiny Smallies that one inhaled my finesse jig. I was presently surprised!
  5. Welcome Jake! It's about time you joined!
  6. Installed a little Lowrance depth finder last weekend and took it out on Lenexa Lake to play around with. My water temp was reading 51-54 degrees. That seems way too warm to me. Could it be right? Or is my thermometer messed up? I did catch my first bass of the year! Tiny bass on a jerkbait.
  7. Bluebasser, Did you go look at the boat? Does he live just north of martin city?
  8. I love catching Wipers. I don't no squat about targeting them though. I don't have electronics, so unless they are busting shad I am clueless. Got into a school of them at Gardner this year, nothing over a couple pounds though. Also, I caught a small one at lone star slow rolling a spinnerbait. Once I get a real boat I plan on going to la cygne ALOT to get into them. I am seen them bust at Olathe a lot, but not for long periods of time. Also, Did anyone happen to buy any of those Pfluegers that were for sale? I missed out on them.
  9. That's awesome! I have tried to get into there before, only got some randos but i have heard they have a good population in Olathe!
  10. Fished La Cygne on Saturday in the pond hopper. Caught nothing in the river and ran out of battery on the flat headed towards the outlet. Luckily, the wipers/white bass where there so we did catch some nice fish. Biggest wiper was 21 inches. Was planning on fishing the cooling pond as well, buy didn't have the battery power so we missed out. Only saw 3 other boats that were fishing. Was anyone from the forum out? Thought maybe I saw Blake's boat.
  11. Bluebasser, have you are anyone fished the cooling pool at la cygne? I noticed there is a boat ramp there as well and thought if we did no good in the river we could try in there.
  12. I think we are going to give la cygne a go. He wants a shot at a big fish, even if the fishing might be slower.
  13. I have a buddy from Iowa coming down this weekend to go fishing... With the weather coming this weekend I was thinking of going to la cygne, but since I only have the pond hopper we would pretty much be confined to the the creek. Which for me has always been very hit and miss. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Has anyone been out there lately? On another note, I fished Louisburg City Lake this weekend. Caught several tiny bass. The only reason I gave it a try is because I met a guy at Olathe Lake that said it has some big fish in it. Has anyone ever fished there?
  14. Can you send me any info you found on it as well?
  15. I have buddy who grew up in gardner, when he was a kid (12 years ago or so) he said he his nieghbor took him fishing at on old rock quarry off garner rd just south of the lake. He showed me where it was a few years ago, but there was No Trepassing signs everywhere of course. He said he thought they reopened the quarry and may have drained the water out of it some time ago. He said they caught multiple 14 inch crappie anjd lots of bass too. Does anyone know anythign about this quarry? Who owns it? If it was drained? It doesn't really matter, but I can't find any info online about a quarry old or new in Garnder. Just curious about the history.
  16. I took my dad to Lonestar Staurday morning . Had battery problems so only fished for about 2 hours. Caught two nice largemouth over 19 inches and a couple small ones. All on T-rigs and Jigs.
  17. Has anyone one fished NEBO this time of year? Or at all this year? Thinking about making a trip there in the next week or so and wanted to hear any opninions on it Micah
  18. Really wish I could take you up on this!! Unfortunately I have to work Sat morning!
  19. I have floated pretty much the whole river, except for the last two miles from cowskin into OK (Grand Lake). I think I prefer the first half better. From the junction of the little sugar and big suger creeks down to MT Shira Access, or even all the way to NOEL. The stretch we floated this time (from below the Dam at Noel all the way to Cowskin Access) was much less crowded, there are very few outfitters that float this section. But other than the one good smallmouth we were catching small fish. The upper stretch we have down much better fishing for largemouth, and have gotten some decent smallies as well. Last year we caugh a couple LGM over 3+ and the year before my friend had one just short of 5 pounds. That Smallmouth I caught this trip that was close to 3 is the biggest I've gotten from the ELk, and it was very close to the Cowskin Access. I have heard that Shad will run up towards cowskin from Grand Lake and that some believe that bigger fish are on that stretch because of it.
  20. Went down to the Elk River this past weekend with some friendsand floated from Noel down to Cowskin access. My boat caught about 75 Smallmouth but only 2 over 15 inches. The biggest was a 17.5 inch, didnt have a scale with me, but I would guess around 3 pounds or so. Also caught some largemouth but not any good ones. It was an awesome float and only saw 2 canoes besides the guys I was floating with the whole day.
  21. Next weekend I am taking my pond hopper down to the ELk River. I have floated it several times but am thinking I am going to float further downstream this trip. Has anyone here floated from MT SHIRA acces down to the COWSKIN access? If yes, is it deeper than the earlier stretch? (from pineville down to Mt shira) I have always taken out at Mt Shira. any input would be GREATLY appreciated. I have read onlin that the downstream stretch gets less traffic, So I just want to make sure that's not because its super shallow.
  22. I won't make the thrusday tourney! I fish Olathe alot from the pond hopper. I am sure yall will catch some nice fish!
  23. There is a ton of trees. Like 80% of the lake is flooded timber. I have fished it out of my buddy's 21 ft stratos, but it's much better to have a smaller boat. I have a 10 ft pond hopper and obviously can through whatever I want with it. You can avoid the west end of the lake and be ok, but if you want to fish the whole lake the smaller the boat the better. And if you have a nice fiberglass boat you may just wanna save yourself the drive.
  24. I went to Critzer this weekend. If you want to go there don't, go to mound city instead. Caught some fish that looked like monsters compared to the "keepers" at douglas county, but nothing over 15". Did lose one good fish at the boat. It was in about 2 feet of water by grass on the far west side of the lake. My other fish came flippin trees and caught 3 on a shakey head off the dam.
  25. It was fun! Thanks for going to a small lake where I could use the pond hopper!
