  1. Jake and I went and checked out Cedar Valley Saturday. One of the roads was closed so it ended up taking us forever to get there since we are so unfamiliar with the area. Started out with two quickly over 15" but couldn't find any big fish. Ended with about 25 total. and our biggest 5 went between 10-11 pounds. The biggest fish was 3 Lb 2 Oz. All our fish came on a shakey head or a T-rig Beaver. We did catch a couple spots which was cool. Jake managed to boat some drum and channel cats as well. EVERYTHING on the lake looked great! I hope to get down there again soon, it's just hard to make the drive there instead of Melvern. .
  2. What is the best weather app to use??? Sick of using the one on my iPhone and it ALWAYS BEING WRONG.
  3. The white bass were fun! Don't know how many smallies came unbuttoned, but it was ALOT. Sure was windy though. Clayton, thanks for the report. Definitely helped our trip down there to be an enjoyable one.
  4. Did you go this past weekend? How was it?
  5. The first couple times I floated it we killed LMB. Buddy caught one at 4 pounds and we had a ton over 15 inches. The smallmouth in my avatar is from Elk, way down river near the cowksin access. Considering how packed it is, I am always amazed at how great of a fishery it is.
  6. If you can get on the river early and stay in front you can definitely do the most damage, but like Bluebasser said you can catch em right in the middle of the party too. I floated back in May and for the first time ever was not having a good day on the river at all. Started throwing the Ned and we ended up boating 50+ smallies. Usually do better for LMB if you are floating the upper half but they were all spawned out back in May so that sucked. I am jealous though, one of my favorite places to float/fish. Hope to get down there again in September.
  7. Thanks for the input guys! I think I am just going to pass on this one. I was planning on waiting longer and spending more money on a nicer boat. I will probably just stick with that plan.
  8. Need some boatowners advice on this boat: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/5108101703.html The motor is old 1969, but supposedly freshly tuned and runs well. Was planning on seeing meeting the guy at a lake on Wednesday to check it out. Never owning a REAL boat before don't know what all to look for. Just seems like a decent deal for a couple grand. the cranking battery is brand new, the other 2 or 2 years old. comes with on board charger and cover. Trailer has bearing buddies. I asked as many questions as I knew to ask. Anything specific I should look for? Any comments on the fairness of the price?
  9. Took my dad out to Mound City Lake on Friday. It took us awhile but we found some good fish. All of my fish were on a big-head wobbler, my dad caught his biggest on a pit boss. It was a new PB for him at 5 Lbs. 11 Oz. I finally caught a decent fish this year too! One just shy of 4 1/2 smoked the big head wobbler as I ran it by some submerged trees. Our biggest 5 went 19 lbs 5 oz. I will try to get some pics on here. Or, you all can check out my facebook. See everyone on Thursday at Olathe!
  10. Thinking about going out to mound city or Pleasanton tom morning. Anyone been to Mound City lately?
  11. Took my dad out to Gardner Sunday afternoon. Caught lots of small fish on Texas Rigs, Hard Heads, and spinnerbaits. Found a school of Shad and caught a wiper on a Lipless. Had a big fish on a spinnerbait that came off. Should be a good Thursday if the weather doesn't get nasty.
  12. Awesome! Glad somebody did well out there!
  13. There's bass in Frisco, I used to fish there when I was in high school occasionally. Never seen a big one come out of it though. A guy from my church posted a picture on FB of his kid with a 14 incher or so out of there last week.
  14. It was higher than it has ever been when I have been on it. ( I had floated in June, July and Sept previously) But not ridiculous by any means. Was actually nice, didn't have to worry about the TM as much. They have gotten a lot more rain since I was on it, so it might be a little higher now.
  15. Never gave a report from Elk River memorial day weekend.... It wasn't good. We managed probably 15 or so smallies, with only 1 over 15 inches. Couldn't get on anything other than the Ned. We floated the upper end which is usually good for healthy LMB but they had just spawned and were shallow and exhausted. Couldn't get them to eat anything. The water was cold too. 61 degrees when we put on in the AM. Hope to get down there again this summer.
  16. http://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/fisherman-finds-man-missing-for-23-years-submerged-in-car-in-miami-county-lake?audiencePageId=1103191740 Crazy it took so long for someone to find this car if it was sop close to the ramp!
  17. Most likely Carp, last time I was out there the carp were up on bank causing a crazy ruckus. Big ones. Glad you had some luck!
  18. 2 over 15" is awesome for that lake!
  19. I have a fly rod that breaks down. Not a spinning rod that would break down small enough I don't believe though.
  20. I was on a cruise vacation all last week and hadn't fished for a week and a half so I hit olathe on sunday for about 3 hours. Boated 4 fish over 15 inches, biggest was an ounce shy of 3 pounds. If the weather this week doesnt screw them up should be a good Thursday!
  21. Went out to SMP Tues night. Boated 3 Largemouth over 15 inches, but nothing Big. I did catch a PB wiper off the dam. 8 1/2 lbs on a squarebill. Definately a blast and made my night. I never can get pictures up on here, but I uploaded some to FB for those of you that are friends.
  22. I should be there in the pond hopper... with winds like that it will be pretty much useless. ha
