  1. Can we talk about reel mods here or does it belong somewhere else?
  2. I have several casitas. They do flex with the load from a heavy stick, wad of hydrilla and a fish. I switched punching and frogging to a citica. For me cost is a concern. The older citica g7 cam be had on Ebay for good prices.
  3. oooooo....that is so obvious. face=palm
  4. "Tinker Bell" Fairy wands are powerful
  5. Central Virginia ain't no better! all the creeks and rivers are raging. stops raining today but blows +30. Starts raining again tomorrow. I have no idea how to adjust. Since the winter of 2017-2018 the amount of rain we have gotten is un heard of. I didn't even fish for a spotted bass last year and only for smallies 1/2 times. The trees started budding 2 weeks ago, birds started returning and I have not been on the water in 15 days because of rain. I'm starting to feel like I am going to miss my big fish window AGAIN for the 2nd year in a row.
  6. Here is my comment. I grew up in the inner city of Richmond VA. Concrete has no fish even though the james river was 10 minutes away, it was not "accessible". I would suggest that anyone who is interested in continuing our sport set up events that get children who do not have access and are probably (Like I was) children of single parents or parents who can do nothing other than work on the water. It can be bank fishing or even just creek exploration. My perspective is very different than most fisherman I know. Most grew up in rural areas with easy access or ponds. I don't really think this is a perspective most people have considered. We focus on the kids in our life/family. We need to light the match for 20 kids, not just 2/3. Just my 2 cents, good post.
  7. My research says that I am gonna need to use a 6-7/0 hook. Crimping the rubber core weight would be a good option. The lakes I am fishing are flooded timber lakes. NO WAY I am using a non weedless option.
  8. Omgosh! I just watched Trash fish's product video. The bait is an unscrupulous copy! Down to the way he talked about modding the tail. Wow, i had no idea.
  9. Could i use an owner beast hook and a tungsten bullet weight? How would a bait like this swim behind a bullet weight? And this finesse fisherman can't drop $15 on two trash fish. But these are at my ollies closeout store for $1.99. It is a shameless copy tho. ?
  10. You know...i wondered that after I saw tactical bassins video! Thanks! I am trying to crawl it on the bottom. I want to fish it along break lines and down points. My lakes are grassy and have A LOT of wooded cover. Jig heads are not an option. 1/4oz is not gonna maintain bottom contact.
  11. Ok, this may not be big to some of you but i have a question about the 5.5" beekley havoc swimmer that was designed by skeet reese. I can't find anything on what hook to use. I am guessing a 6/0. Too big? And why are weedless hooks so light! Someone needs to custom make a 1/2oz 5 or 6/0 ewg with an owner centering pin!?
  12. The reason I know they are in this lake is because I caught one ON A BRIDGE fishing a suspending jerk!!! spot on!!!! Thank you so much everyone. You reinforced what i was already thinking and taught me a few totally new things. As soon as I fix this pesky head gasket I'm breaing my PB. Not sure which strain we have in VA...but they are commonly 3lbs in this lake and another river. Def bigger than 1.5 but never seen one over 3.5. But who cares...they are Gorgeous and fight HARD!
  13. This is a GREAT post! ^^^^^ I Agree completely...with All of it. I am looking/hoping/praying to get my hands on a Sony A6300 with a kit lens and a 20 something mm. Even zooming in post won't work the GoPro because of the low megapixel. But, it would really require another person to assist with that type of filming. I am not really ok with trusting someone else to handle nearly $1k of camera gear. Batteries don't last long enough to just leave it running and the cameras suffer from overheating. So I guess there is a trade off to all of it. And the dividing line of who can be creative enough with all the tools.
  14. what water temps are you seeing during these times? I don't know, but I am planning on mid to upper 40s on my lake. Thanks for the reply too!
  15. 1080p and 720p for me. I don't think i can talk about my YouTube channel on here.... As your resolution goes up, so does everything else. Higher res = larger file size=more mem cards needed. Also, the higher resolutions generate more heat in your camera and use up batteries faster. the higher resolutions need more PC power to edit and larger HDD space to store it. Like i said, there is a cost. if you want to there is a VERY popular youtuber who shot a video in 4k recently and he usually does 1080p. good way to see the diff. Also, YT is not true 4k. I believe the platform loses some resolution due to the streaming nature of the platform. 4k Would be AWESOME at home if you happen to get a shot of your PB and want to force everyone at your kids bday party to relive the moment with you! DM me if you want. It gets kind of sketchy with this topic because i am not allowed to promote or profit in the posts. I don't want to get a strike just trying to help out a fellow member. Sorry mods...I tried to stay in the Slot.
  16. I video. Here is what I do and is in No way an endorsement or do i benefit from the companies. I am not sponsored or payed by them. Sorry if I can't answer the question this way. I edit with Lightworks. The free version is really powerful and caps you at 720p HD. But that is fine. Recording at higher resolution on your GoPro will eat up more space on the mem card anyway. Using a go pro, I wear a session on my head and have mounts on my boats and Kayak for a Hero 4+. I recommend wearing it on your head. This way it is out of the way of your hands, nets and rods. Also, you are gonna get whatever you are looking at...no missed angles. The other benefit for photo/video guys is that your head is "stabalized". You will get really really steady shots vs. holding it in your hand. I use a Sony Alpha 5100, GoPro Hero 4 Session and a Hero 4+ DM me if you want. I can give you more specific answers.
  17. Ok, let's see all you have on the topic! There is very little clear definitive information on Spotted Bass in Winter. I have two small rivers and a lake near me in VA that have spotted bass. I am planning a trip (early January) to fish in the lake. The lake is predominantly Largies but has a pop of Spots. I caugh one accidentally last year while fishing a suspending jerkbait near a bridge. I know that spots act differently from all the other species in winter but that is all I can really figure out. do they suspend or hug the bottom? will they be located in the same areas I typically look for largemouths? do they chase or is it still a crawl fluttering presentation also? help help help!
  18. can these tabs be installed on a riveted aluminum?
  19. I live very close to the lake. Truthfully, most of the guys I know avoid that lake except for March - May. IMO, you will not be fishing for a lot of bites. The lake is very grassy in the warm months with an exceptionally heavy amount of boat traffic from jet skis and water skis. Whippernock marina bridge is a good area. Not sure where you all are putting in or if you have the option to use different put ins. Fish that are caught are of good quality...just not a lot.
  20. Reach out to the custom garage pour guys. A lot of them will pour to order for you. Problem solved. Everything you all list I use. Plastic=mean river bream in the James. Lol but I will keep donating if that is what it takes. I want to get out pre spawn on the river. Temps here are 54-57 on the river. Any advice on where and what to use?
  21. Sorry I've been mia....work. I use the topwaters now. I will definitely try the swim baits. I was thinking of trying a finesse flipping jig also.
  22. The more I ponder it. I am going to stay with Shimano. I will probably go JDM but not the Stile. that is ~280ish. A little too steep lol. I'll post pictures when I make my final decision.
  23. cold weather got me spending! But I LOVE THESE REELS!!!!!!
