  1. Im really sorry to hear that. That is terrible. I hope things start going right for you. Sounds like you need some "rippin lips" therapy.
  2. Theres a guy in the fishing flea market section, selling Daiwa excelers for 50 bucks. They are good reels. Ive had two of them. I sold one and still have the other. I think they retail for 90.00 . Darren is right, some of the cheaper baitcasters are hard to learn with. A pro qualifer might be a good idea too. As for rods to pair with it, depending on what you spend on the reel. Check both shimano and Abus lower cost line ups.
  3. Nice. Now you can go home and write and doodle in your diary. Jk buddy, kinda envious. -__-
  4. Sam when are you coming down to fish Gaston? Are you coming down early or just on Saturday
  5. exactly right!! Thats where knowing the body of water and being a good "junk" fisherman can really play into your hand.
  6. That i dont know....
  7. I love the lews Tps and most of lews reels.... but i agree! I hate those ugly flat paddles!! Its realy the only thing i dislike about about them!! Lews calls the knobs "classic" i call them ugly I am going HawgHandle shortly!!
  8. Fl_bass thats a good setting. You can leave it there and when its calm out and you want more distance you can turn the mag breaks down, and turn the mag breaks up when your casting into heavy wind.. Mine are set a little lower than that but half way on both sets is pretty standard and will give you good performance. Kudos on watching the videos, applying it and practicing it. I had to learn the hard way. Gkenn's videos and the articles here will help the learning curve alot!! Practice pitching and roll casting next. I do it in the back yard using old coffee cans and 2.5 gal buckets as targets.
  9. 32 fish is always a good day!! Any size on the jerkbait bite? The rogue is a good bait.
  10. Those guys are hilarious. Its like listening listen to two sports educated guys that are brothers... the constant bickering and picking makes it like im back home talking sports with my brothers.
  11. I just listened to Pace on the Mike and MIKE pod cast and he was a pleasure to listen to. I think this weekends interviews with him and the final weigh in he was just in shock...or still in focus mode.
  12. Thanks guys. I missed Mike and Mike today, but normally hear them everyday. Love those guys.
  13. I know Hank Cherry is kicking himself for losing that fish, but just think about what this Classic did for his career. A big thing for alot of fishermen breaking into the sport is the exspense. Hank won alot of respect this weekend and hopefully for him, he gained some intrest from possible sponsors. This kid will only get better. I would like to see him continue to fish and climb the ladder up to the elites. The sponsors will def help him on that road as far as expenses.
  14. If the brakes are set all the way up and your tension is set correctly then you can count on gaining alot of distance once you really get the hang of it. Once your hands, eyes, and thumb get the muscle memory down you can ease of the breaks little by little until you get the desired distance. As far as line goes, lighter line generally will let you cast a little further.
  15. If a no name company brings out that lure with a subtle approach, then i can see what you mean. But this is Rapala one of the most recognized names in the fishing industry, when i say subtle i mean more subtle thant what they did. I mean a count down?lol they can push the product and advertise with out all the drama. The Rapala name is going to draw alot of attention by itself.
  16. Im sick of works like "hunt",and "revolutionize". And frankly im sick of all the hype for this lure. Rapala may have made a good lure, they may have made a bad one,...who knows... Rapala didnt re invent the wheel. The would have been better off to make A SUBTLE RELEASE of theirr product. Without hyping it to hights that the lure can never climb. When i say subtle, i mean release it like everyone else does...that means no (countdown to changing fishing forever) and stop using words like revolvtionize... not many lures do that. the chatterbait design finally caught on but hardly revolutiionary. The crazy thing to me is, all they had to do was show the action, show the bill and what it does and then shut up. It didnt need all the hype,..
  17. 20. Bucks and several ounces.
  18. And im pretty sure Ike gets the pick of the litter. Im sure he wouldnt go to the Classic armed with anything that he thought would break, malfunction, or hinder his ability to land fish. (Unless its a trolling motor) jk, i hated that for him, having to deal with TM issues at the classic.
  19. Its good to see some one else that likes Case lures. The hellgrammites work good for picky largemouth too. Their curly craw is awesome too (not a finesse bait but a good case product)
  20. Am i the only one that thinks that the front seat is too far forward for that little boat? It may work just fine but that is a thin little boat and if i was by myself, i dont think i would want to sit up there for fear of tipping forward too far. A long time ago, I had a lil 10fter like that and it sat low enough with my 200lbs in the middle. You may want to test that out or bring that chair back
  21. No. Its like a mod fast. I have began to think that Powell rates their tapers faster than they should. I have 2 723's that say XF but are really a true fast action. You wont have any trouble getting a positive hook set. Between the length and the heavy action you dont have to swing hard. I use 50a lb braid and sometime 16-20lb leaders FC . The taper is also easy to load with 1/2oz and trailer. Makes for easy pitching. How soon before you guys in MN start fishing
