What Do You Do For A Living?
9 years as a Law Enforcement Officer here locally. I was a field traing officer and specialized in DWI detection and drug impairment detection. I was also one of 2 Instructors in my region certified to teach DWI detection and other advance classes. I also worked as an EMT part time for 8years. For the past year and a half ive been a chemical applicator/herbicide technician for a Lake Management Co. Its a great gig, ive been on beautiful lakes up and down the east coast. The past month or so tho, ive been going through the hiring process to "get back in the business". But i will still be working as a chdmical applicator here on my local lakes on my days off...

Where Do You Start?
I plan on making my own jigs. Im really picky when it comes to my jigs so i figured i would order the jig heads from Sierberts and buy my own skirt material and hand tie my own. Who knows maybe down the road start pouring my own jigs. I know going into it, thats its not a money saving hobby. I found that out when i was taking notes of which skirt matierals to order first. I kepts seeing colors and patterns that i liked alot! Which really is crazy because i can fish all year long off of three different jig patterns...

Havn't Made Jigs In A While
Sweet jigs!! That red craw looks fierce!!

Leader Or No Leader
Yes and no. I use braid for alot of my mainline but water here on my home lakes is super clear so i use leaders often. I dont use leaders where the vegetation or brush is really nasty. I dont use leaders for punching mats of grass either. I also use straight braid for frogs and heavy topwaters.

Deep Water Tactics
If you like dropshottin, try a finesse jig as your weight. Ive only caught a fish on it a few times, but it got my attention!

Deep Water Tactics
Something that helps me -i look at lures as tools. Tools to fix a problem. but first you have to know EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. Then use the TOOL that best fits the job and still fits your style, experience and confidence.

Buffs
Why wear a rag on your face when you can wear a cowboy hat?! Jk. I wear one in the winter months and when its cold. They do make some pretty wicked designs on them now!!

Proposal For High School Fishing Club
I would research and find other high schools in your region that have a fishing team/club and see exactly what you will be facing from the school board, what the red tape will be and be prepared with rebuttals for any issues. I think i read somewhere that FishinCowboy has experience in coaching a fishing team. PM him or FishinCowgirl im sure they will tell you what they know.

Deep Water Tactics
Sure, but it depeneds on where the fish are in the water collum and what they are doing. Questions you have to ask: are they suspended at a depth? Clinging to certain bottom changes? Chasing bait fish? Are the fish lethargic? Are they very active? Is there any cover down there? Felix, im not expert on the matter but i do tend to do well in deeper water. Once it warms up some i almost always try a topwater..thats just me. But i try to answer the questions above and try to put a lure at that depth or on the bottom that will most likely be in the strike zone. That lure could be a jig, carolina rig, crank bait, trap, topwater, or a hard swim bait or a dropshot. The next question to be answered is whats the general mood of the fish? This will decide alot in how i go forward. Two of my favorite techniques is a 1oz football jig and cranking. Dropshotting is growing on alot especially when they have lockjaw.

MCS, no argument here!

Kvd Line Conditioner
I use it and I see little difference on my braid. Before i starting using braid as a mainline on most my rods, i used fluoro and mono as the majority of my mainlines. I saw great results on the fluoro and mono. I had fewer backlashes when casting into the wind. I didnt get many twists in the line. The line seems to come off easier nad has a bit more softness to it. They say it conditions the line and helps it lasts longer and i think it does too.

Brand Loyalty
As an unbiased and unrelated audience, I simply asked my wife what she wants her next car to be. (Her 01 Honda Accord has over 170k and has paid its dues, and we will probably be in the market for one soon) Her answer: "honestly, I dont know. Ill probably want another Honda Accord. Me: why? Wife: the one we have has lasted so well and it is still good on gas. So why not go with another one. Me: I thought you wanted an SUV, isnt there something else that you want? Wife: Well.....i do like the new Honda Mini Vans.. Me: hahaha, does it have to be a honda? Wife: why not? They last forever and are good on gas. Besides the man at the Honda Service shop already knows us. She did admit that she likes the Tahoes,Malibus, and Toyota 4 runners and would like one but she stated that she would probably go with another Accord because she feels that it is a the safest bet. I asked her this, with Toms question in mind about brand loyalty but didnt tell her until afterwards. Her response to brand loyalty, if you find something that is great then go with.

N A S C A R's Brightest Star?
Not so special drivers get the pole often every year. She still has a long road. There are 42 other drivers that will be driving out there too. Experience is not on her side. While her odds of winning the race increased by having the top starting spot, but i would venture to say that her odds are still very slim. I dont say this to take away from Ms.Patrick. What she has done is unpreccidented for women and women trying to break in the sport. Sometimes we as viewers give her funny looks because he biggest success seems to be in marketing and not racing. But that isnt her fault. She was blessed with a beautiful appearance and lets be honest, sex sells. While i dont think she will win this race nor any race this year, i am really proud of her accomplishments and her will to do something that she wants to do, even if it is a "mans sport". I dont have a daughter, but if i did, I would want her to look at what Ms.Patrick has done as an example of women breaking into a mans world and competing. (Even if it doesnt result in wins, she still got in, and she still competes) i think she is a good role model.

Skipping Tubes
I like either t rigged with a EWG and small tungsten weight pegged, or a light jig head like the spot remover pro.. i dont change the rigging too much just so i can skip it.

Fishing Rod Mat
If the purpose is only keep from getting the occasional treble in your carpet, why dont you get an old floor mat (the small ones made for a back seat) and lay it down under where the reel and hook keepers would be. And X2 on the Rod Saver straps!!

Hot Foot; Yes Or No?
Its much like driving a car. Except for "letting off" of it is like moving back on throttle. You will really enjoy it...its very natural after you do it the first time

Lews Bb1 Speed Spool.
Hello and welcome to the site!! There are a ton of reviews on the BB1. But i wouldnt run to go find them...the BB1 is a solid reel. Several members have them and they love them. I have several lews TPs and a Tourney Speed Spool and i love them. The BB1 is built to be solid and to cast a mile! There is actually a you tube video of David Fritts at icast, casting that reel over 65yards. Tackle warehouse has good reviews of it and i think tackle tour may have done one.
