  1. I havent bought a BB1 yet, but i have a tournament ss and several Lews Tourney Pros and i love them. I have handled a BB1 and it is very smooth. I like it alot. If you have to ask me, the Abu Pro Max is not even in the same class as the BB1. You can save money on the BB1 by looking on E bay...and they are all NIB. If it was me and my dad, i would seriously look at the BB1, Lews Tourney, or Lews Tourney PRO. But i would still strip the Pro Max down and fix/rebuild if you can, if nothing else for sentimental reasons.
  2. I dont go higher than 50 but alot of locals use 80 for punching and Alabama rigs.
  3. I was sure wondering about mixing and adding some jjs to the tips. but i can say that megastrike works great on powerbait chigger craws. I found that out the last two trips out dragging a football jig with a chigger craw trailer. I just didnt know if there were some plastics that were pre scented that it conflict with... but it did work well with those stinky chigger craws on my jig
  4. Glenn, thank you for taking the time out of your life to plan videos, teach, film and edit. I like watching your videos. Even on techniques that I feel good about, its good to get a refresher or reinforcement when you do a video on them.
  5. Good stuff man. Thats gonna be a sweet set up. Drop shot? Or all things finesse?
  6. The Veritas would probably do well with topwaters, jerks, and smaller swim jigs.
  7. A time tested and proven classic that is easy to use and is very user friendly if you want to customize it.
  8. RC, im in line to listen to the answer. This is something ive been wondering too. id like to hear Bobby or Big O's opinion.
  9. No sure fire, but will cover water when fish begin to move in and stage up with jerkbaits, traps and maybe spinner/chatterbait. Once i get dialed in jigs and tubes.
  10. RM, is exactly right on the rod. Thats a good way to break it. If yyou have a 2 pc rod, a soft rifle/long gun bag/case would be the ticket. You should be able to find one super cheap right now since walmart is moving all the hunting stuff out for the year.
  11. I have a couple old Okuma rod holders that i got from tackle shops. An old cheap pressboard book shelf with plano boxes stacked up and labled i have soft plastic in a couple of shallow plastic totes with a top on it i have peg board on all my wall in there with a few hangers. Put spools of line and such on it as well as packages of hooks and weights that i have multiple packages. I tend to hang stuff there temporarily untill i organize it. I also have a homemade spooling station on one of my work benches
  12. I would imagine it would. Ive never owned a PQ. There are several guys on here that love the PQ and im think that Elite Pro Edwin Evers uses them too. A standard 6:1 is sufficent for towater baits. Im hoping one of the guys that uses PQs or some of those rods will chime in.
  13. I think the BASS weekend series and BfLs require you to have 300k. Highest ive seen. There are few local tournament trails (nc based) that require 100K.
  14. Brands are whatever you like and are comfortable with. Several companies make entry level rods that SHOULD turn out to be good topwater rods. I buy a lot of powell rods, but they dont really have anything for my TASTE for a topwater rod. I like a bit shorter rod 6'6"length and i like to use casting gear. Spinning rods work well too... i throw my reallyy liight TWs on spinning gear. My topwater/jerkbait rod is a Daiwa T rod 6'6" M/xf casting rod- $64.99 Others that deserve a look are : Berkley Lightning shock Shimano Sellus Shimano Convergence Abu Garcia Vengence All of those rods make a 6'6 or 6'8. Medium action casting rods. All of those rods can be had for less than 55 bucks.
  15. Nice looking rig!! You will have fun with that! I dont it much any more, but i used to love skipping grubs on a 6' UL under docks. Ive caught some hellacious blue gill and perch on a UL, ive caught a few nice bass too with 1/16th jig head and a small grub or tube! Sometime when myy little man gets older i may get a couple new UL setups to go down to the river when thiose big shad are running....that is some of the best fun you can have with your pants on!
  16. thanks Dwight, that was actually discussed in my phone call with the mechanic yesterday afternoon. He said that impeller is in working condition however it is starting to look worn and that he would change it. So i told him to go ahead and do it. I am also getting my prop re conditioned while its there.. Its gonna end up costing a good bit overall, but id rather pay it and keepnthe boat running than run the risk of letting little problems become "the search for a new(er) 200hp motor" The boat has been going to the same guy since it was new in 1996 under the first owner, so he knows my boat better than i do. My mechanic actually does care alot and has done alot for near nothing over the years just looking out for his customers. So i trust his judgement.
  17. Haterism? Is that a new generation term for Cynicsm? Why so cynical over an editorial piece that has a humorus tone to it? I could see the Impartial Haterism' if bobby actually had a dog in the fight to compete with this product, but he doesnt. Craww how long has you worked in the fishing industry? If bobby says that cranking "is a dying art" then there is a reason he said that. Good piece bobby! Im still trying to get this darn Banjo minnow to work.
  18. I know its a big deal but the motor is a 1996 and it had a new lower put on in 2002, so almost 11 years on that lower unit before a problem... i cant be but so upset. Not to mentioned since i got moved into the city limits last year i dont have indoor storage anymore.(garage) ...
  19. I changed my gear oil myself back in angust. I the oil and the magnetic plug/screw was normal condition then. August through november i was taking it out on average of three times a week. (Some times 4) late november through now -at least once a week, sometimes twice. I try to change it about every 6 months. We are guessing that it happened sometime since we had all this cold weather.
  20. Check out powell rods. They have incredible value and a good selection.
  21. Just doing my part to decorate the local stumps with jigs and shallow cranks.
  22. Haha... i wont be hard to spot. Ill be the one in the red Javelin with a rod bent over. Hahaha i pick at you guys but its all in good fun!! I think we are going to have a great time
