  1. So how much "backing" do you put on the reel and how much of the good line do you guys use? This sounds like an interesting idea that I may have to try out. So any more advice anyone can give me on this would be much appreciated. Thanks guys, Matt
  2. Teal, what exactly do you mean by "backing"? I am assuming you mean spool so far with cheap line, then put your expensive line on last. Thanks for an input you can give me.
  3. IABASS8, thanks for the link. I think that is a great piece of information. Thanks a lot
  4. Ok guys. I pretty much use mono for everything. I am wondering what type of line should I use for different applications, like for jigs, cranking, spinner, exc.... I do use braid for throwing my frogs most of the time, but I hear about this line stretching and that line not and I just need some help. Thanks guys.
  5. Has anyone tried the Sebile Proppler Buzz bait. It is like a top water spinner bait. Just curious as to your thoughts on this paticular bait. Also, has anyone used any of the Sebile baits, and if so, what is your thoughts on the lure you used. Thanks for any and all comments. Matt
  6. Tbone, are you talking about the Trueimage Spinner Baits???? I googled imaged spinner baits and all I came up with is a Trueimage spinner bait, just wondering if that was what you were talking about.
  7. I dont think I have seen the imaged, but I was kinda thinking the same think about the Echip. The spinner bait itself looks pretty good though. So I may try one out and if the Echip works then so much the better I guess. Thanks bub
  8. Hey guys, I seen the Persuade Spinner Bait online and I was wondering if anyone had tried one. It had some really good reviews, but I was reading them on the same site selling the bait so I wanted some honest no bias opinions. I dont know about the whole Echip thing. Anyway, any and all responses are much appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  9. I personally think the Lew's Speed Spool is a super good reel for $100 bucks. Also, the Lew's Tournament Pro is an awesome reel, personally, I think Lew's makes some of the best reels out there, and they are VERY resonably priced. I have a couple Shimano Coratta's and the older ones are some of the toughest reels ever built in my opinion. The new ones dont seem to be a tough as the old ones but are still very good reels. Thats my 2 cents, Matt
  10. Thanks guys, we use Pitman Creek now and I really like them, the only problem is the that there isnt a lot they offer. It seems to me they only offer a limited amount of products. I am just trying to find a wider variety in a single place. Thanks guys, keep the recommendations coming. Matt
  11. Can someone please tell me what I done wrong by posting this question. I have read the rules and I didnt see anything that really discussed this topic since I am not promoting or knocking any company. I have sent Glenn and Roadwarrior PM's and have got no response. I just want to know what I done wrong so I wont do it again. Thanks guys. Matt
  12. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here knows of a good wholesale distributor. I work at a local archery and fishing store and the distributor we use now dont have a large selection. Like we cant get Mann's baits, Shimano, Quantam, River2sea, and the list goes on. So I was just wondering if I could get a little help with finding a new distributor. Thanks guys.
  13. Well now I am a little nervous. most of my reels are Lew's , so I dont know if I want to tackle those. I do have a couple of Shimano's, I have an older Curado that I dropped in the water last year I may practice on. Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. Matt
  14. Ok guys, so last year was my first real year of bass fishing, and I bought 4 bait casters and used them quite a bit. My question is if I should take them apart and clean them this winter. I have looked at the parts list in the booklet that came with them and it looks like a ton of small parts... So what do you guys think, should I clean them. If so, how difficult is it to clean them and put them back together. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. Thanks guys, Matt
  15. Ok guys, so I would like some of your guys opinions on sunglasses. I am looking for a good, affordable pair of polarized sunglasses that are fishing specific. I am wondering about some of the good brands and what color lens I should get and if the lens color matters. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  16. Guys, thanks so much for all the feedback. To one question about the reel. I was going to get the Tournament Speed Spool but the warehouse didnt have it avalible when I put in the order. I have the regular speed spool and I do fine with it, so I think the MG will be fine. I was wanting the dual breaking but I needed to make the order 700$ so the shop wouldnt have to pay shipping and as I said I do fine with the regular speed spool and the only difference in the MG and SS is the breaking system, they both have the 9 bb and the brass gears and the one piece aluminum frame so I am happy with that. But the rod has be wacked out, I dont know, I am sure that with my fishing ability the rod wont make a huge difference I was just wanting to get all the help I could... I NEED IT...lol, but I am happy I guess. This is an awesome site, with awesome people thank you guys so much for the help. Thanks Matt
  17. Ok guys, I have a question. I have the chance to buy a 2000 model Bass Tracker 16 ft. with a 25 hp with tilt and trim. It has a trolling motor not sure what kind. The boat is in decent shape, it has the 25 hp with a 9.9 sticker so that is good for me. It could use some TLC but is a sound boat. My buddy has it, wants 3000$ for it, and he will let me make payments on it, and he dont really care how quick I pay him. So is that a decent deal, let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for any and all comments. Matt
  18. Ok, so I didnt do very good.... That sucks... So what would that rod be best suited for???? Some said jigs, spinnerbaits...... I really like to fish spinnerbaits alot, so I could use it for that, But what is that rod ideally suited for. Thanks guys
  19. Ok Guys, So I have posted a couple times about my crankbait rod needs. I bought one today and I hope I made a good choice. I work partime at a archery/fishing shop so I had to go through our supplier to get the best deal. My selection was somewhat limited, quite a bit actually, my first 2 choices I was unable to get. So I went with the Abu Garcia Veritas in a 6' 9" Medium Heavy Extra Fast. I was wanting a 7" Medium Extra Fast but they didnt have one avaliable. So this will be my crankbait and top water bait, and I am going to pair it with a Lew's Tournament MG in 6:4:1 ratio. So I hope I made a good choice. Please tell me what you guys think. Any and all comments are much appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  20. Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. I am pretty new to this site and fishing too for that matter. So I really do appreciate all the help. Thanks
  21. Thanks for the help. Honestly, I am not dead set on a fiberglass rod, but I have read that they are really good for crankbait rods. I have read that they are very sensitive so I dont know. I was going to get an Abu Garcia Vertias which is what most of my other rods are, but then I read that fiberglass is the way to go. So right now I am just confused...lol... Thanks for the input though
  22. Hey guys, looking for a good crankbait rod, and from what I have gathered, I should use a fiberglass rod for my crankbaits. I am having a hard time figuring out a good, light weight, fiberglass rod. I am looking for something in the 100$ - 150$ range. It needs to be light weight and sensitive yet strong. I have never used a fiberglass rod so I dont know what to expect. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
