  1. I had a cheaper reel last year that I always used for my spinnerbaits and when it was dying on me, I would set the hook and get some backlashes. After about the 3rd time of that, I figured the reel was wearing out so I tossed it. Good luck
  2. Hey guys, so if accidentally turn my hook box over, sometimes my hooks get all mixed up. I was wondering if there is any boxes out there that totally prevent this. Thanks guys. Matt
  3. Hey guys, I done a search and couldn't find anything on this. So I was fishing earlier this year at my favorite lake in WV. I proceeded to catch a large mouth bass that had red eyes. Straight up red eyes, it was crazy looking, everything about this fish was normal just had red eyes. As far as I know there are only rock bass and large mouth in this lake. I know there are know small mouth. I first thought this was a rock bass, but this was a good size fish, probably around 3 lbs. It also didn't really look like a rock bass, it looked 100 % large mouth, just with red eyes. So I was wondering what was up with this, what may cause it. Thanks for any info. Matt
  4. I had caught a few bass when I was younger and fishing for anything that would bite. I didnt start "Bass Fishing" until last year though. I had a decade long heroin addiction and didnt do much of anyhting at all in those years. So last year, I started hanging out at a local archery and bait shop a little bit, and those guys took a liking to me and talked me into going to rehab. Well after rehab, I kept hanging out with them and about this time last year, I was taken on my first bass fishing trip. It has been downhill ever since. I thought my heroin addiction was bad but this fishing thing is ridiculous. Every bait I see I want, every reel I see I have to have, and every rod I see I have to pick it up and play with it. I have bought a boat and now I fish at least 3 times a week, a lot of weeks I fish 5 or more times a week. So that is my story, I am very thankful for being introduced to this great sport, which has really helped me stay clean. Good fishing guys
  5. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to catch more fish off the bed. My local lake has fish all over the place on the beds and I mean some real hogs, but I am having trouble getting them to hit. I have caught a few, but usually I have to get pretty close to catch them and most of the time I spook them. So any hints, tips, or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks guys
  6. Thanks a lot everyone for the advice. I appreciate it.
  7. For the sake of discussion. If I was going to continue to use spinning gear with mono, could I use a swivel on my line to help with line twist or would the weight of the swivel cause issues????
  8. Hey guys, I was wondering what kinda setup everyone uses for wacky style. I was talking to a buddy of mine who uses a bait caster, while I myself have always used a open face reel. My buddy said when he uses a open face, he gets a lot of twist in the line when using it weightless. So I was just wondering what everyone else does. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  9. Loodkop, forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I assume you mean just like hook it texas rigged but backwards, like from the back??? That sounds pretty good.... Good thread guys, keep them ideas coming. Thanks, Matt
  10. Thanks Mike, when I fish my flukes, I will let it sink down maybe 6-10 feet sometimes before I jerk it and bring it back to the top. Sometimes that will get them biting if the straight top water aint working. Thanks Mike
  11. Yea I will do that, thanks Justin
  12. War Eagle, I assume a scrounger head is just a jig head of some sort??? So you just fish it on bottom right??? Sounds like that may work.... Thanks
  13. Bob, what do you mean by "deadsticking" ? I have never heard of that before. If you dont mind, could you please explain that to me. Thanks
  14. Ok guys, so I have always just used a fluke the "normal" way. Weightless, with a jerking action, or maybe with a small bullet weight. I have noticed on some other post that people use these for different applications. So if you wouldnt mind I would like to know some of the ways other people fish flukes and maybe what is your favorite way to fish them. Thanks guys, Matt
  15. Felix, you said you bought some wacky hooks??? I was thought you used a wide gap hook with the Jika Rig???? I may be wrong but thats what I thought, I tried to use it yesterday, but I didnt have any split ring pliers with me and I couldnt get the stupid split ring on my hook or my weight so I wasnt able to use it....lol
  16. 1/2 oz green jig with a little trailer on it.....
  17. Yea, the front deck is plywood, already had it off. I want to take off the back deck and look under it, it is all aluminum though and I cant find any screws... I am assuming it is riveted but I dont know. Thanks for the help guys....
  18. Hey guys, I have a 2000 bass tracker, and I would like to get some type of a repair manual. I am needing a wiring diagram for the boat and would like to see exactly how to remove the decks and recarpet the boat. If anyone knows where I can find one please let me know. I did a search on google, and I really didnt find anything. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  19. Well guys, went on my first fishing trip of the season today, in my first boat, and caught my first fish of the year...... Only caught one today, but with the water temp at about 40 degrees, cant expect much.... But it was an awesome day....
  20. Freebie, in response to your 10 amp per battery response. I heard it is better on your batteries if you charge them slow. I heard that 5 amps per battery will charge them in 8 hours or so, which is enough for me. Any comments on that???? Thanks for the help guys
  21. Hey guys, I am looking into buying a 2 bank charger for my boat and would like to have some advice. I found a Minn Kota 210D charger, which is a 10 amp, 5 amp per battery, it seems to have pretty good reviews. Does anyone have any recommendations on what is a good charger, I am looking for longevity of the charger. I want one that will last for a long time, and would like to have a good price on one too. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks, Matt
  22. Dang, I just thought the local guy was jacking up the price. Kinda hard to belive a little bit of rubber is so expensive....lol... Thanks bub
  23. Hey guys, I have a 2000 Mercury 25 hp 2 stroke engine on a bass tracker... Anyway, I am needing to get a new fuel line and bulb, my local boat shop wants 49.99 for this... That seems kinda high too me, is that to expensive? Also, does anyone know where I can find one that will work for my boat at a better price. Thanks for any and all help, Matt
