Hi Vis Yellow Braid
wow, i'm actually surprised at all the absolutely yes repsonses! still would like to know if there is a major disadvantage to fishing it without the leader?

Mattlures Hardgill Question
Should I be so fortunate as to find one, and at that be allowed a choice, i'm wondering what the preference is in terms of sink rate. Which works best for you in what conditions the floater, slow sink, medium sink or fast sink? Also, given the sink rate, what is your typical retrieve pattern? I'm typically fishing in 15FOW or less if that helps with any suggestions. thanks.

Almost Don't Cut It
no joke man, it is difficult to read something that contains 12 commas in the first "sentence". i wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt and expect to see you were 13 years old on your profile, but at the age of 49 man i was pretty disheartened.... now, to, your, other, problem, of, catching, those, fish..... i, would, look, at, punching, that, grass, with, a, punch, rig, from, siebert, and, some, heavy, gear.

Hi Vis Yellow Braid

Hi Vis Yellow Braid
next question for anyone using the hi vis yellow, do you ever tie straight to lure or are you generally using a leader? i don't fish a ton of super clear water so when fishing "green" or "moss" braid i tie straight to the lure, in fact i've never used a leader.... just curious what the consensus is, thanks!

Hi Vis Yellow Braid
Anyone have any experience with the yellow braid? Just wondering if you are able to see the line a little better in order to notice any line movement on those weaker bites? I've been wanting to try it, but would hate to spend the money on it and hate it.... just wondering if there is any noticeable difference for you in your ability to see the line or even if you feel you got less bites because of it? would likely be some power pro hi vis yellow. thanks for the input.

Best Braid?
such a marginal difference for me over suffix or power pro, but i usually find better deals on power pro so that's what i use the majority of the time. noise and color fading are not even on my radar in terms of issues with braid. and for me they both suck equally in terms of abrasion so you just have to check your line and re-tie as needed. but for solid hooksets on single hook applications, you can't beat braid in my opinion

Has Anyone Installed A Kill Switch For Trolling Motor?
the riding lawnmower seat type of cut off would be genius! then if you're like me and like to do a lot of standing and fishing you wouldn't have to worry about kicking it on accidentally or anything like that... my engineering skills are at a kindergarten level so i love hearing all these ideas.... and OP, it would still make me nervous even using the treadmill type pull as you mentioned. in any event, i would try to ensure you have a quick release on the part that attaches to the life vest should the worst case scenario come about.... perhaps i'm overkill, but i had a wicked scary event on lake oconee with a deep cycle battery going overboard, staying attached and filling my sit in kayak about 85% full of water in about 35-40 feet of water. i managed to make it back to the bank just as my kayak went under and began to roll.... now i want things that will quickly release in a panic....

Trolling Motor On Wilderness Ride 115X
i would be willing to bet the fine is 10X the normal permit... and if Mike is in Fresno, California it is more than safe to assume his state collects a fee for permitting a motored boat. California collects money for everything within their borders, why they would deviate from every other state on this one would be crazy. not to mention the don't follow the law because other's don't mentality is pretty ridiculous that said, i'm interested to see if you come up with some solution. i have a ride 135 and i have a 30lb minn kota/deep cycle battery that i'm thinking about mounting on it. i would like to come up with a crafty conversion like bassyaks style to make it neat and clean. i already have the rudder hookup/foot peg steering so i would like to incorporate the trolling motor into those components if i can figure out a way to do so.... the part that kind of has me stumped is how to raise/lower the motor from a seated position? it doesn't help that my brain does not operate like an engineer.... let me know how it goes

Has Anyone Installed A Kill Switch For Trolling Motor?
jim mac, should you capsize, i think the last thing you may want is to be hooked in any way shape or form to your kayak or the battery. while it is a fantastic idea for stopping the motor, it sounds like a horrible tangled mess should your fears be realized and you go overboard. best to have little or no restrictions/points of contact with you and the yak should that time ever come... but that's only my opinion.....

Weedless Hooks Worse At Avoiding Weeds Then Regular Hooks?

When's Your Fishing Pref?
any science behind this statement? just curious if i should start targeting to hit the ramp at 9:30 and call it a day around 2:15?

Kissing Bass?
you guys are smarter than these average bears.... people have more misconceptions about cleanliness and transfer of bacteria than they do about bass fishing.....

A Testament Of Strength And Value, Vs. Boneheadness
caught one of my brand new combos one time while casting and pulled it off my kayak into about 25 feet of water.... i spent about an hour dragging some weighted treble hooks but no luck... makes you really think about what you're doing after that!

Lake Norman, Nc Fisherman
another avenue for some good information relative to your area is NCAngler.com and you could also check out hardcorekayakfishing.com as they are local to your area and i've met a few of them and they were nice guys....

Lake Norman, Nc Fisherman
hey man, my buddy fishes that lake pretty regularly from a kayak, though he has his couple spots he sticks to. he does really well with deeper diving cranks (10-15ft), texas rigged worms (bigger size like 9-12") and jigs.

Help! How To Use Flippin' Switch ?
pretty good article.... if you actually look at the very last bullet at the bottom, it mentions flipping finesse baits on spinning gear....

Socked A Groundhog
nice shooting. this thread had me thinking about fun times i had a good time with some folks out in SW Montana.... bad problem with gophers out there on the ranches and the cattle break their legs off in the holes so they want them all gone... we rode around for hours in a beat down VW rabbit with no windows/windshield/etc. blasting gophers til we had no more ammo... hog hunting on a massive 32,000 acre ranch down in Florida we were always asked to shoot armadillos on sight. same deal, cattle break their legs in the holes. these trips were always fun as it was more like an extermination than a hunt .... any coyote, armadillo or hog you see is fair game.

Frog Rod Opinions
sorry guys, perhaps i should have specified. I am not necessarily looking for brand/specific rod suggestions. More so, I was looking for the consensus or opinions on using the MH rods vs H rods for frog fishing given that i do not fish ultra heavy vegitation.... Thanks!

Help! How To Use Flippin' Switch ?
kikstand's 1st reply is pretty much spot on.... that second one about who flips with a spinning outfit.... watched my dad do it my entire life. i've never really understood it, like many things he does, but i know it works for him! one spot i saw his technique really shine is when he and i were trout fishing in Montana and were in some tight spots to cast.... that flipping technique of his on the spinning gear had him hooking up with fish as i was ripping my lures out of the trees! now back to the OP.... the switch is not a gimmick per say, but certainly something that is not needed and widely un-used. that reel however is a fine reel and once you forget about that switch and just use it normally, you will be very happy with it!

Frog Rod Opinions
Seems as though most prefer the heavy power for frog rods, but wondering if others use a MH? I would like to buy a MH rod if i can get away with it and have it double as another jig rod when i want it to. would a MH with fast or x fast action be appropriate for the two applications? rod would likely be somewhere between 7' and 7'3" thanks for the opinions EDIT: should have added that I do not often fish the super heavy vegitation a lot of frog guys are probably hitting. but i do fish it a good bit around some other heavy cover....

Bps Website?
yeah, that's nearly criminal! i actually complained to them one time that their shipping made them non-competitive even with like priced items. reason being is that they increase your shipping charges incrementally based on the amount of $ you have in your cart, not the size or weight of the items. I pointed this out, found someone reasonable and they gave me a $10 credit to apply to that purchase which made them once again competitive on that item.... worth a shot. their chat now function is great and i've found their customer service to be far better than average....
