  1. no advice, but wish you luck man.
  2. those lying m****** that 135 is like 100 pounds man. heavy as h***. i put it in the back bed of my truck, but on any kind of incline it can be a beast of a one man job.
  3. dude nice fish and very nice smallies! i need to get on some smallmouth like that sometime!
  4. first off welcome to the forum.... second nice kayak! lastly, not sure about anything specific to your kayak, but youtube has an abundance of videos about installing an anchor trolley. if i could access youtube from my work computer, i would send you some links.
  5. yeah my wife wouldn't let that one go down, nice work though. in fact, my wife griped enough about me rigging up some pulleys in the garage to hoist my kayak up to the ceiling.... all the time hearing about how the ceiling's going to fall down and blah blah blah
  6. i just installed the 4xhdi on my ride 135 kayak. i've still yet to figure it out, but it's a huge step up from the Garmin echo unit i had on my old kayak. i've yet to give the downscan a good test because i've been fishing some shallow water with little cover, but the sonar has been working great. last night i was out and paddling back from fishing when i ran across what will be my new offshore spot on this small lake i've just started fishing. the sonar really picked up this sharp 9 ft depth change right off center of the middle of the lake, deepest point so far is like 20 feet so this 9 ft swing is killer. but that sonar really is better than my old unit, no comparison. it is also VERY easy to toggle between the different screens (sonar, DSI, sonar/DSI vertical, sonar/DSI horizontal. for the $200 i paid for it i am very happy so far.
  7. my buddy has those on like a 4 door hyundai car (not sure what model) but he transports his 12' knock off kayak on his no problem. his kayak is fairly heavy too, maybe 70ish pounds. not sure i'd want to put my ride 135 on there because that thing is heavy as h***
  8. thanks to this post, i picked up the spinnerbait box too, you won't regret it. i fish from the yak and have some plano stowed behind in a crate, forcing me to store them sideways. this thing works like a charm, sideways, upside down, backwards, doesn't matter they all stay in place. big thanks to doyle for sure, that picture went a long ways!!
  9. evidently a worm, on a hook, tied to his shoelaces that are missing.....
  10. i want to say it's the sunfish pattern? maybe mike will chime in, i'm not exactly certain.
  11. the one thing that nobody is saying here is no matter what you do, make sure it's the real you. the worst thing to do is put on some front with a girl, things start going well and then you or they realize it was a front. and as over quoted as it may be, it's true every time you read it: "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." -Michael Jordan

recently placed a small order (3rd or 4th order now) from Siebert and as usual, nothing but top marks.... i ordered these units on a friday afternoon (after a couple emails exchanged with Mike) and on monday morning i had a shipping confirmation with tracking number! this guy is a beast. they were all mata dredge brush series jigs (http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Mata-Dredge-Brush-052.htm) i went a little funkier than usual with some of the head and color selections, but am thrilled with how they turned out! being able to pick the color on the rubber really helps you add your own additional flavor to the already awesome color schemes available to choose from. And that copperhead or copper black or whatever it's called looks awesome! at first, i didn't think the rubber added that much more to the bulk of the skirt.... then i compared them to the regular dredge brush jigs i have and there is a noticeable difference! also, ordered a few of his tungsten sinkers and the quality is exactly what i expected from Mike, excellent. a couple of wilder color schemes for jigs, but i'm liking them. The one on the right is sporting my Tarheels color scheme so you know that guy will be DYNAMITE when I'm back up in North Carolina.... and the one on the left is a little closer to my own UNC Charlotte 49er's colors, so it should dominate on Lake Norman hopefully when i get back from NYC next week i will be able to give them a good test run and ideally report back with some slobs....
  13. thanks to doyle, i went and picked up the spinnerbait box yesterday. on top of that, summer santa clause stopped by and dropped off a few new mata dredge jigs from siebert just to help me try and fill up the box.... worked out very well because i now have my jigs and hanful of spinnerbaits neatly organized and easy to see type/head/color/etc. all but like 3 of those are siebert jigs and man do they look good all laid out like that. of the others, one is terminator, one is who knows, the sweet looking bladed jig is from clayton (bluebasser) but i still need to get it wet, haven't even fished it...
  14. i'm actually to the point of realization that i had so many un-fished lures i needed to get rid of some. i've been "purging" lately, but really only freeing up more room and funds for the things i'm really using right now (siebert jigs, trailers for said jigs) but every time i go to walmart, dick's, bass pro, cabela's, whatever it is at least one lure seems to make its way into the bag and into the car.....
  15. Not a big collection, but this is my half war eagle/half terminator stash.... extra terminator quick change skirts are in the little plastic baggy.
  16. that's cool, but if i bought one more thing the wife would kill me. was he fishing the lake at the stone mountain park? i've fished there a few times, but had no luck there whatsoever. awesome little lake though.
  17. very nice fish!
  18. i'm half war eagles and half terminator titaniums... i have about the same luck with both. i just really like those skirts on the terminator's, they pretty much transfer over to any jighead application
  19. thanks for all the replies guys.... since i didn't plan properly i will not be able to fish this time around... but now i know i suppose! i'm going down towards Tampa in the end of october so maybe i should just be planning hard on taking some gear on that trip and find a FL pig.....
  20. i think it would just be safe to say that based on the numbers and size you're seeing it may be that his pond is overpopulated and stunting the growth. if he seems to run with that thought, then you can interject with the need to weed out the smaller fish starting now and for a while until the sizes increase and healthy sized bass are becoming more of the norm.
  21. dude, welcome to the forums, but for the love of god figure out how to take a fish picture without standing on the fish
  22. do you have any topwater style lures that you can tie on since they were hitting the topwater? those worms and crickets may not have been what was on the menu that day if they were killing the baitfish on the top.... i love fishing with pop-r style baits... maybe tie one on and give it a shot next time you see them hitting the top like that
  23. were it me, i might try to think of or find some family struggling much more than you are and ask if they'd be interested in some fish.... they just have to clean and cook and you supply them with as much as they can eat. so many people (mostly children) go to bed hungry every night i have no doubt that someone nearby could benefit from some food.... personally, i think if you start pulling fish out of someone else's pond and start littering the property with dead fish, you will lose said fishing spot. they obviously didn't understand the whole pond management to begin with and a "fishkill" likely wouldn't go over or make a ton of sense to them.... just my thoughts.
