How Do You Organize/store Your Jigs In Boxes?

Featured Replies

Looking for a new method....extra points for pics!

I put all of mine in plano 3700's with dividers for each jig.  I have them lined up by weight, style, and color.

Ill take a pic of mine when I go home on lunch and upload it here.

Edit:

These are my misc. jigs.

Thanks!  I've thought about the Plano Flip-sider boxes

I also use a series 3700 box with dividers. They are grouped by style football, Swim, etc. Then by weight.

Nice pic Flipside.  That is almost exactly how I have mine set up.  I didnt make a nifty list though.

Thanks. I just copied all of what you had written down on the order over to a piece of paper and taped it to there so I would know the weights.

Also, all these are nice clean setups but due to storing my box on the side, its a snake pit to find the right one once there nice and mixed together!

I use the thin 3700 boxes. Label each box for weight and keep similiar styles in them. Football and arky are together. Then bullet and snootie heads are together. I load 2-3 boxes with my go to jigs and they're in the boat.

How much room do you have?  How yo organize your jigs is directly related to how much storage you've got, both on your boat and in your fishing shed.

I separate mine by brand, weight, skirted or not, purpose (finesse or whatnot).  I carry 7 different boxes of jig heads, football, tx style shaky heads, spring style shaky heads, brush jigs, tx style brush jigs.

It goes without saying that there is some overlap between styles and as you are putting stuff away at the end of the day, stuff gets put in wrong boxes quite a bit.  I carry a box of "ready rigs"  jig, skirt & trailer already attached for specific situations that I run into from time to time.

I think that any jig storage solution in inherently arbitrary and every storage solution has flaws.  After you fish with it for a while, those flaws become apparent.  So, I've pretty much given up trying to be hyper organized as far as jigs go.

To add to the dilemma, over the last year or so, I've gotten into jika rigs, which allow you to present any soft plastic as a jig, kinda.

Basically I think that any jig storage solution is a compromise,  I hope you find one that works for you.

Nice storage ideas, I had to try and down size mine fishing as a co angler and that's not easy for me, I may start a post about that

Plano 3700 spinnerbait box.

I just gave away my spinnerbait box to my brother due to changing to the square hanging box. Going soon to pickup a 3700 spinnerbait box soon! My jigs are all pulled out thinking the smaller Plano flipsider said jigs up to 1/2oz, spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits.....and can't fit 95% of those in matchbox slots

I keep mine organized by weight and color.

Sometimes I just go to the water with a box of blank heads, and a bag of skirts of various colors and patterns....and just assemble as needed.

Lol, you guys crack me up! I fish 1 jig 1/2 oz football! I keep the painted heads in a 3700 box and tie my skirts with rattle bands and keep them in a ziplock so I can "dress " them an I need them.

I also have a 3700 filled with Rage Craws/Lobsters.

Wow you guys are organized. I've got 400-500 jigs in 3 3700 boxes. They're separated by type, football, finesse, brush, and that's it. They're kind of in a round about way separated by color, but not really.

I have 4 of the 3700 boxes and counting with siebert outdoor jigs. Can we ever have enough. I'm sure once I show the kids(6 of them) how good they work, I'll be buying more. I keep the kids tackle boxes filled too.

Plus Mike's one of our supporters here too.

I purchased the 3700 boxes in a four pack from Amazon.

I am not looking at this... I hate you guys. I organize my in a deep plano box and it looks likes it went thru an F5 tornado.

Very cool you guys :)

thanks to doyle, i went and picked up the spinnerbait box yesterday.  on top of that, summer santa clause stopped by and dropped off a few new mata dredge jigs from siebert just to help me try and fill up the box....  worked out very well because i now have my jigs and hanful of spinnerbaits neatly organized and easy to see type/head/color/etc.

all but like 3 of those are siebert jigs and man do they look good all laid out like that. of the others, one is terminator, one is who knows, the sweet looking bladed jig is from clayton (bluebasser) but i still need to get it wet, haven't even fished it...

Thanks for all the feedback, especially from doyle!  Most posters have been dealing with the same issue I was.....so.....go to pick you up an $11, Plano 3700 spinnerbait box and you'll thank me...and doyle too!

Jig Setup -Spinnerbait box

All ordered by color, style and size - 38 jigs
  • Top (L to R) - Standup Jigs > Swim
  • Middle (L to R) - Casting > Heavy Cover
