Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
i was in NYC like 2 weeks ago and walked past some shop that sells clothes all made from ocean plastics.... thought that was interesting, but ties right into your argument. crazy thing is these wild events like indonesian/japanese tsunamis, hurricane katrina/sandy, etc. will keep dumping trash into the ocean TONS at a time....

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
thanks for that link, very interesting yet alarming. again, not saying i think there's some crazy epidemic.... just one event led to another and got me thinking about it. really appreciate everyone's responses though, very interesting topic in my opinion.

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
i found a submerged senko once that as you say, was the size of a cigar. when i tried to pull it out of the water, it just "crumbled" into countless pieces.... do you think this is more of the salt reaction than the plastic?

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
thanks J, see my previous post about the interweb making everyone a professional at everything..... not to mention the top google result from your search is from good housekeeping, i would not really consider them the knowledgebank for the plastics process.... although it does show that different plastic resins will react differently and not all plastics are created equally. i'm still a little curious though of those 7 different families exactly where the plastic worm falls. any "experts" know which plastics category the plastic worm would fall under? for all i know, it may be a different type of "plastic" and not really fall in any of those categories.

Where Has It Been?
honest question man, do you read or re-read these posts before you hit the green post button?

Simply Showed Up?
a buddy of mine were out one day throwing everything under the sun trying to catch them, 3 or 4 rods each with whatever baits and couldn't buy a bite. i could see fish holding in a laydown and hit them in the head and they wouldn't move. in a while we see this 10 or 11 year old boy on the bank with his rod bent in half. when we get close by he asks if we've caught any, we say no, he's obviously perplexed by this so i asked him if he caught any that day. he says that fish there was about #12 i think!!!! of course next question is what you catch it on? his reply was an even bigger kick in the nuts as he tells us he has only 1 rod and reel and only fishes 1 bait because that's all he really has.... this 1 magical bait was of course nothing more than a white curly tail grub. suffice to say that my buddy and i were in dismay and the term keep it simple stupid was the theme of the day!

How Do You Hold Your Rods? - W/ Pics
i hope there's enough chapelle show fans to get the reference.... i laughed pretty hard myself..... YEEEEEAAAAAAA OP, you're going to get nothing but bad sarcastic answers to your question man.... it truly is personal preference. i actually find with different reels i do it differently. my tatulas are noticeably bigger than my other reels and require a slightly different method for holding than Abu or Shimano that i have....

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
lol, fair point sir.... i forgot i was on the interweb where everyone knows what they're talking about... i just know there are ones smarter than i on this topic.

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
yeah, most plastics have the recylce sign and a number that somehow reflects the properties of that plastic (please anybody that knows what they're talking about chime in) i'm sure it's not a big deal and frankly guys i'm not losing any sleep over it. it just happened to stick in my brain last night and i couldn't shake it this morning.... from a guy who also enjoys his golf, i assume it couldn't be much worse than leaving a golf ball in the water right?

Your Pb, How Long Ago, How Big,kept Or Release
i really do wish you all the luck in the world man! this is one of the reasons it sucks to fish in GA. in order to talk state record, you're talking world record (whether fake or not, doesn't matter)... so like for me, i wanted to enter into the Kayak Bass Fishing monthly challenges. However, I found out that they basically score your catches based on some equation that takes the state record into account. fishing from GA basically always has you handicapped since you're going against the biggest LM number in the books.... there again a 11 pound maine bass probably looks about like a 20 pound Georgia bass! really though, best of luck, i hope to read the "new state record in maine" post before too long...

Baker Hit On Foles.....redskins Eagles Game
it almost looks to me like it could be deemed a block in the back.... quite clear that it was unncessary amount of force no matter what.

Your Pb, How Long Ago, How Big,kept Or Release
nice fish man! if you're going to keep fishing the rainy days you might need to find you some new rain boots. that duct tape holding your one boot together looks like it's seen better days!! really sounds like you're pretty dialed in on those fish. and from your accounts here sounds like you should be on some lunkers between now and the middle of november!

Avoided The Skunk Right Before Dark!
yes sir, just good to walk away on a high note. with my usual luck, i would make another cast and snag my lure, backlash, miss a fish, just about anything that could go wrong would go wrong.....

Avoided The Skunk Right Before Dark!
funny part is i wanted to, but just felt like leaving on a high note.... so no, didn't make one more cast! kind of like scoring a big pot at the poker table and running off with my winnings!!!

Avoided The Skunk Right Before Dark!
I went out last night to a pond close to the house to try and fish for about an hour before dark. i hit all my usual spots with only 1 missed strike to show for it. I was about to pack it up as it was getting dark, but then i saw a topwater explosion at a spot i had already hit. i went over to get a better vantage point, which happened to be balancing on a downed log in the lake! it was tight quarters so i pitched my spinnerbait a couple times and about the third time felt like a locomotive was pulling my bait from me! i set the hook (almost falling off the log) and managed to get a nice little 2-2.5#er.... I snapped a pic of the log i was balancing on as well as the fish, but the lack of light made for a terrible picture (sorry). oh well, felt good to tighten the line last night!

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
i don't typically feel guilty myself, just a thought that popped up last night and hasn't escaped my one track brain..... but now that one worm i pulled back, a simple one finger tug on the line would have retrieved this person's worm. Additionally, not saying that it doesn't do that much harm, but the amount of beer cans, wrappers, plastic bags, etc. i see in the water i feel i should do everything i can to combat the littering.... any links to said posts or articles about the fish digesting the worms or anything? i'm just extremely curious now. thanks guys.

Hygiene Dilemma
Just to make everyone here well aware of a fact: Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home or school has nothing to do with getting head lice. if you don't believe me, feel free to visit the CDC for more information. http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/lice/head/gen_info/faqs.html not to say that something can't/shouldn't be done about your situation, but before you go burning a good friendship or making false accusations you should be 100% educated on the topic.

Transporting Rods On Vehicles
if you're going to be pickin up a kayak, get a nice sit on top kayak that allows the rod to be stored in the hull. i have a ride 135 and can fit 8+ combos (in rod sleeves) in the hull of the kayak NO PROBLEM. that way when you transport kayak/rods there will be no fear of breakage.

New Ideas For "brushpiles"
all of those designs from fish whisperer are unique, not pretty per se, but they will all work. the only one i would steer clear of would be the pallets. they will eventually break down the screws or nails holding them together and become more of a trash pile than a fish attractor. that very last pic of the blocks with black tubing coming out look awesome, almost like monkey grass or border grass.... really cool idea.

Help A Shy Guy Out
dude, it really sounds to me like you need to allocate a little more time to these attempts.... just saying that you can't keep cutting these chances short because of next class, little brother, etc. but you really need to accelerate the moves or you're going to be watching some other dude pick this girl up from your classes soon enough.... confidence is one of the biggest turn ons more so than looks, wit, appearance, etc. you need to gain some confidence and just go for it man. i'd rather die knowing that i tried _____ rather than die wondering what if ______ good luck.

What Is The Name Of The Long Rods To Get Threw Shallow Places With Your Boat?

Plastic Baits Left In The Lake
Just an odd question that popped into my head last night. I pulled in someone else's line that had broken off, on the other end was a curly tail worm that looked like it had been there for a while. a few casts later i somehow tore my rage tail anaconda in half (seems to happen a little more lately) and half went flying into the pond. my question is do the worms ever breakdown/dissolve/biodegrade (whatever the appropriate term is)? thanks.

Transporting Rods On Vehicles
that is a little bit sketchy for transporting rods... can't believe there's no pass through from the trunk. that's how i carried my rods in my toyota camry with no problems at all.
