Sink, Sank, Sunk
i read the story today from the guys and it sounded pretty sketchy..... basically involved a dead cell phone, one with 10% battery, watching a party boat go by that didn't see them to help, and clinging to a shipping buoy waiting for rescue in other words, your worst nightmare....

Gear On An Airplane?
my thoughts exactly!! like i said, russian roulette with those guys. thanks for that link though, at least they have it all spelled out rather than some gray area.

Three Days And Some Quality Bass
i hear ya man, i have a couple pairs of those pants. also have some moisture wicking shirts, but when it's just brutally muggy (downsouth style) it's just hot man.... those pants are great and dry incredibly fast, but even at that there is a noticeable difference between them and shorts. either way, nice fishing man and very nice yak!

A Bad And Sad Example For His Son.
the only thing that truly ticks me off with my situation is i'm fishing from a kayak so it may not always be the easiest endeavor to get to said spot. 3 weeks ago, i'm fishing a small electric only lake and crusing the bank right before the dam. the way the kayak was positioned and the way i was moving was more than obvious that i was working my way to the dam bank. an older guy and what appeared to be his son cut me off by about 25 yards and hit the dam bank right in front of me. then proceed to just post up there and fish the only spot worth fishing in this particular area of the lake..... being in a kayak, it's not like i can just grumble and motor on to the next spot so i guess it ticks me off a little more than it should.... it happens, happens quite a bit actually, but only a handful of times has it truly bothered me i suppose.

Gear On An Airplane?
i mean i know that TSA is about as reliable as russian roulette, but i would have never thought they would allow the lures on the plane with hooks and everything....

Falcon Bucoo Micro - Opinions?
i'd agree with all that.... i have the rod you listed the 7'm/mod and tried to use as a light crankbait style rod... but i wasn't too happy with it. it's just too light for my taste. i'm looking to actually get a new rod for cranking so i'll be moving this one around or even getting rid of it altogether.... honestly, i'd rather take that $75 and put it towards a rod better suited for tossing the lighter crankbaits. now what that rod is, i'm not certain, i'm looking myself....

Has Anyone Installed A Kill Switch For Trolling Motor?
havent' tried it again since.... but that was with a totally different kayak than i have now. now i'm working with a ride 135 so i feel a lot better about being able to safely rig it up. plus in the rear tankwell there's tons of rooms to strap it down, and yes i guess to answer your question i would strap the battery down for sure. it was the battery going over the side and somehow staying connected at the cables that nearly drowned me.

Fishing Stories
easily the best one for me is fishing one day in a cold mountain lake with my dad and brother. i'm targeting bass they are fishing for any species with crickets. the bro and i haven't caught any yet and my dad is landing slabber bluegills and trout and talking all sorts of s***. asks if we want to smell his hands, goes to wash them off and falls overboard! i pull him back in by his overall straps and then my brother and i laugh until we were sick.... dad shivering and hanging his head. that was priceless. another good one is trout fishing in Montana with the grandparents and my grandmother (total bada** as is, literally ran moonshine in western NC as a teenager in the 30's, always toting a pistol) blows my mind. all of a sudden we hear the rattle of a rattlesnake, it's on her side of the creek, not the side my granddad and i are on. it's maybe 25 feet from her and letting her know to stay put. she takes one look up, mumbles something to the snake and just turns back and keeps on casting to the hole she was in!!!! the snake just stayed put and mamaw just keeps strolling down the bank and casting......

Gear On An Airplane?
interesting, i assume so that i can't choke someone out or something ........ enter shoelaces, belt, backpack strap...... those TSA guys really have it all figured out huh

Gear On An Airplane?
so you're saying i should have planned this out a little better..... LOL thanks guys, that makes sense actually so i suppose i will know for next time! oddly enough, the airlines allow you to ship some sporting goods for free (i know this because of my snowboard) but there again the snowboard was in a somewhat official looking bag to transport.... was just hoping that the rods might fall under this exception, but you guys are right about bag slammers at the airport damaging some gear..... but is fedex that much gentler? looks like PGA championship and some football for this guy

Gear On An Airplane?
Question about taking gear on an airplane, flying Delta if that helps. Is it an additional fee to take rods since they are so long, and how do most people transport a 7' rod safely/cost effectively. Do the reels have to be stored separately, must they be in the checked baggage? And I'm just going to assume lures and all that have to be checked as well? Wanting to take some rods with me to NY this coming weekend, but I'm just not sure at all what the process is. Thanks!

Queens/bayside Ny Area

Queens/bayside Ny Area
Anything on this one guys? Heading up there on Friday 9/12. Just let me know if you have any info. Otherwise may just be a long weekend of golf and football at Nana's house....

Swallowing Soft Baits
not smart enough to read his post. he de-barbs all his hooks. he was asking beyond that, what measures can be taken to promote the health of the fish.

Co-Angler Help!
dude the fact that you thought about it and said you didn't want to be that guy shows you genuinely didn't know to do so.... nobody can beat you up over that. But being a jayhawks fan, i mean it really doesn't surprise me that you don't know any better no in all seriousness, bluebasser is a good dude, and i'm sure he will relay your intentions to his brother in law. That said, you just make it up to him next time. Perhaps even step it up a notch and just bring you a little cooler with sodas, ice and some snacks, offer to pay some gas money. Then take bluebasser's advice and smash some DQ, that's really a win for both parties.... by the way, take Roy Williams back, you can have him -sincerely every UNC fan

Anyone Use A Plano 3607-04 Spinner Bait Tray?
i have it, so-so in my opinion.... it keeps my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits together though, so no complaints there.

Private Pond
i wouldn't totally count any lunkers out.... there's likely one mama in there. but to get through all those dinks and start finding any quality fish, someone will likely have to start taking a couple fish out of there...

Biggest So Far This Year
that's too cool!!!

Private Pond
it's a fine line to know when/how many to take out.... but just letting it go will only lead to the problem you're describing. from time to time, my dad would call his uncle and tell him to bring a friend and a bucket to our pond. These two old guys would sit out there catch a few, have the time of their lives and then take them home to fry up..... Everybody was a winner because my dad really just wanted them to pull a few smaller ones from the pond to make it a better habitat for the bigger ones in there. it's crazy, but proper maintenance of a pond is far more labor intensive than one would imagine!!

Roboworm Bags
that pack from Felix looks like some newer packaging than what i have seen.... the fact that they are a fairly "small" operation in the grand scheme of things is likely why they don't invest as much in packaging. They make these right here in the USA so they may not have all the overseas hook ups on packaging that some do. That's just my thought, but the worms are great! I use a BPS worm bag with sealable bags inside so it doesn't bother me, but i hear ya.

Guide, Charge Or Comp That Is The Question!
you sound like a guide that i would enjoy booking, contrary to the other "guide" in this post. the fact that you say you enjoy seeing others having a good time means your head and heart are in the right place, and the fact you get paid on top of that??? awesome.... my dad and i spend very very little time together, but when we do it is generally involving fishing or hunting something. Those are some of the best times i can remember, the fact that you are there to facilitate and make those experiences happen for others has to be a rewarding experience all in itself!

Private Pond
actually sounds to me like this place could benefit from taking some of those smaller size fish out of the population. Part of managing a pond does involve taking fish out on occasion. It's one of those things where overpopulation will stunt the growth of the other fish and diminish the food supply...
