  2. the way this is going, i might as well flop down some wild off the wall parlay bet when i get to vegas tonight! it might actually pay off with all this crazy action!
  3. well, these are only 9" not the 10 you're looking for.... but i get a lot of bites on the netbait super t mac worms. green pumpkin or junebug.
  4. i use 15# big game on my rod for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, swim jigs. it has a little stretch, but unless you're casting 100 yards out it won't have any negative effect on the hookset. no special rods needed. i'm going to swap my cranking rod out with some 10# big game here soon.
  5. no joke! what was that thing only like 14 inches or something? holy piglet!
  6. sounds like 3 great days to me, those are some nice looking fish there! and that fog is no joke!
  7. it's not for everybody, nor for every presentation either. other than my jig rod, i only use it as a leader. i have straight 16# sniper on the jig rod and treat it with some KVD line conditioner and it performs pretty well!
  8. have no experience with the fury, but do have some champions, but that may not be a realistic comparison... that said, i freakin love my tatula 6'10"MH/F casting rod. that thing is my most versatile rod in the rack. i'm using it for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, swim jigs and chatterbaits for now. i've also used it previously for worms and jigs and it was great with those baits. agreed it's a little "stiffer" than some other MH/F in that size range, but it's no broomstick.
  9. i get around.... especially on rods, but reels too. i currently have shimanos, lews and pfluegers. but i think i've had about one of most the major manufacturers at one point in time. to me they all have pros and cons, so i'm more of a bargain hunter than a loyalist.
  10. big game is best bang for the buck on mono and can be found anywhere, like Walmart. yo zuri is MUCH stronger than the line rating so you can use smaller diameter and still have confidence in the line, it's good stuff. aside from frogging or punching, you could use either of these lines for all your techniques. i have no experience with gliss, but a few reviews from guys on here said it just doesn't hold up well over time.
  11. man those new DX HP are sweet looking rods, but the same hook keeper that i love to hate.....
  12. i've had a 10 and now have a 13.5 foot kayak. honestly, i'd rather one in the middle at like 11.5 or 12. and i'm 6' tall and 210 lbs for what it's worth...
  13. i don't know that they're "spawning" yet, but it won't be long. they're definitely getting ready for it though, saw some prepping the banks last sunday at a small pond near the house. most are talking like next week with the full moon phase should be laying eggs. water temps skyrocketed over the last 2 weeks though, i was on lake acworth wednesday evening and the water was 71 degrees!
  14. yeah those big girls will wear you out.... at least that's what i hear anyways!!
  15. i've seen them expanding shelf space at the local Dick's, but haven't tried any yet. They were either buy one get one free or buy one get one half off, can't remember.
  16. i have a pack somewhere i know, but i've never even opened them.... i'll have to double check them i guess when i come around to opening them up!
  17. honestly, i've been meaning to do this, but keep forgetting! i always take the hooks out of the package and then sometimes sit there wondering what brand or size is this? i'd think this would help me a little bit with keeping things sorted out.
  18. BOO go home, you're drunk!! even if you beat Kentucky, you're most likely to run into my Heels!
  19. i saw some on sunday on the banks at a local pond, but they would have NOTHING to do with what my buddy and i were tossing. i mean ran away from the baits nearly. but then hit the lake wednesday after work and they were biting the spinnerbait pretty good for me and the other guys i talked to. i think the pond bass were focused on making the beds and getting ready to do their thing and i'm guessing the lake bass were feeding heavy before they go into reproduction mode??? <<<my very uneducated opinion on the matter at least! EDIT: any idea what the water temps were?
  20. WHOA that's a dandy there Jeff!! greenbacks and green worms, you reward yourself with a green beer?
  21. my LEAST favorite/confident technique is the jerkbait! good on you for sticking to it and getting rewarded!
  22. Yeah buddy! Nice fish man!
  23. last sunday i saw some little males around the banks getting their spots ready! a bunch were caught on beds yesterday on the FLW at Hartwell so i wouldn't be surprised to see them your way either.
  24. no worries man, just a friendly wager to keep it interesting since nobody else wanted to join! please do not feel pressured to do so, i picked that LC Pointer up a while back on sale for like $6 so please do not go out of your way to buy something, seriously! it's a back up i have hanging on the pegboard, will not be missed if/when you beat me!
  25. i hope that second half team for UNC is the same one that plays the rest of the tournament!! otherwise, it'll be a long few weeks for this guy! heading to vegas after work tonight, i never bet sports, but i may have to lay down some wild parlay bet or something to keep these even more interesting! pretty sure they were referring to March Madness with that so called Christmas song ... "it's the most wonderful time of the year!"
