when hitting the bank, i carry my tackle in a regular old jansport backpack i already had laying around. frees up my hands to carry the rods and i'll usually take between 2 and 4 rods with me.

agree with turtle. spinning reels reach a point of diminishing return, seems to be about the $100 mark. i'll never spend more than that on another spinning reel, but the rods yes. my casting gear is probably pretty close to even in terms of the cost of one to the other. at the end of the day though, what does it matter to anyone but you? all these what's best, what's more sensitive, etc. are all so subjective it boils down to one thing only, YOU! what makes you happy to fish with?

i'd use it for baits you're really trying to lob out there (like a lipless crank that can really fly). OR i'd say use it for a technique where you're using much bigger diameter line like 16-20lb line.

exactly why i asked. even 8lb can be a little cumbersome for me on the spinning reel. if you're putting 12 or god forbid 25 on a spinning reel, then let's consider this case closed....

uni knot is my go to on fluoro. tried the san diego for a while, but i was doing something wrong with the number of break offs i was having. went right back to the uni and have had no issues since.

i could live with power pro braid or big game mono, either or. but what's the fun in just one?

one thing to note is that just because bass pro spooled it on, DOES NOT mean it was done right!!! and to be clear now, are you spooling this onto a spinning reel or casting reel?

i know a couple of guys that have 7's on their yaks and don't seem to have any issues with them. i'm sure it all depends on where and how you go about mounting it too. and agreed on the keeper wife! can she call mine and give her some pointers sometime before August?
