  1. berkley lightning shock rods are cheap and hard to beat. i have 2 of their spinning rods and they're a great buy for the money.
  2. i like to tie on the heads that i'm using most often. Small round jig, arky, brush and football are what i use. siebert outdoors has great products, prices and service. i also got some painted heads from site member @cadman and they were great! skirt materials came from fishingskirts online, cheap and a large selection.
  3. i'd be out there if it's just rain.... my forecast says thunderstorms, so this dude is steering clear of the lightning! maybe hit a pond or two if it breaks, but i'm not dragging the yak out in a T storm!
  4. get you a bag of each and do a little test in some water on the fall rate. fill up a rubbermaid tote or something with water and play around with them and record the actions on the drop to see which one performs to your satisfaction.
  5. haven't fished a tube since i can't remember when.... and frankly i don't miss them....
  6. i'll change sizes or i'll change baits, but i don't much think about colors. i only think about color in relation to the water color and how well the bait will show up in those conditions.
  7. ***** i'd talk rings, flowers and dresses for a minute if that was my consolation prize!
  8. the only "great" things i've ever heard about denali rods came from their "pro staff". i think a pulse and money are all that they require for that program... i'd spend my $ on a berkley lightning shock (i have 2 and they work great).
  9. you'll have to try, try and try again until you figure out the best way to load it. and that may change depending on the slope where you try to load it... i have a motor on mine and it's nice, but i wouldn't do it again. it's a lot of extra weight and no faster than i can paddle, but helps tremendously with holding position in wind. paddle, paddle, fish, fish and then worry about adding stuff. fish it a lot and then start to rig it so that you don't do something you may regret later on.
  10. love catching those fatty spots! nice fish!

sounds like a really nice trip!
  12. 2 nice big buckets there!
  13. like the other stores mentioned in the article, they refused to change with the retail landscape and they get swallowed whole...
  14. love it when the karma bell rings!!
  15. congrats bill, you can recover from that fall!!
  16. me three.... i walked about 5 miles to get my wife stranded on the interstate and then we walked back home. went out the next morning while people were still stranded on the roads and passed out some snacks and water.... looked like the apocalypse for real. dread the day we ever get TWO inches!!!!
  17. as a lifer broncos fan, i'm glad he got us to the big dance 2 times and respect his talents. that said, i'm very glad to see him go out on top and allowing the broncos to start back with rebuilding a contending team without him. the guy is a great player no doubt, but football is not a 1 person sport and it takes a village.... i'd love to see him take a front office position in denver and assemble the next super bowl team!
  18. the problem on those studies is exactly what you said, someone has to pay for them, rendering biased opinions. i would really like to see a legitimate study done by a party with no interest in the equation and see what the science of vaporizing really is!
  19. the more people i meet, the less i like people!! keep that baby to yourself and family!!
  20. pics on TW are backwards or something then. TW pics show red retainer on the type R and purple retainer on the regular. on TW, the reel with the red hood shows a red retainer.
  21. i was about to ask you what it would cost me to fish there if that's the case!!
  22. yeah that's an odd color combo and only on the CT, not on the CT Type R i would like to have one in hand to see the difference in size vs the OG model
