  1. Wow that's crazy. What were you catching them mid-day on? I'm assuming it was deep... I'd love to have six fish totalling 17#, great job, even if not at the top of the leader board!
  2. Worst advice I have ever read in this forum. Frustrated with losing fish? Amplify that by losing lures you bought with your light bill money. Debt is dumb, and i've had my share. Debt for a hobby is just plain stupid. No fish you can catch feels as good as being debt free with a little extra in the bank, or, dare say, money invested in the future. That way you can retire earlier and enjoy more time fishing while dude with the nicer gear ten years ago goes to work for a few more years. Sorry, end of rant. If you fish a lot in weeds, make sure you tie your knots often. If you lose many fish to broken line, save up for braid.
  3. The ones I saw were in the middle in 60 feet of water holding 5-10 feet off the bottom. Granted my finder is low end, but they were there, and also holding at the bottom of drop offs. As far as bank fishing goes, there were some guys at the launch when I was putting in and they said they caught several that morning from the bank of the launch (they actually needed to move for me to put in). They said they had one five pound and one four pound in the mix.
  4. Never been out with the water this high. There was a floating debris island the entire way across the res. At one point. Had fun though and caught about six in some flooded areas. First fish on a frog and fluke too! The worm proved to be the most productive though. Were tons of fish on the finder in the middle of the res but couldn't get anything to bite there at the bottom.
  5. There are. There are also trails across the street in the big parking lot. Across the street from the parking lot is also a gravel road that you can drive down for access. Also can go muddng there. I am going out on the boat at 3:oo if you want to come.
  6. Headed out today at 3:oo if anyone wants to come along. Will only be out for a couple hours. Don't know how far I will get depending on the amount of debris.
  7. Great tip on the vid!
  8. There are plenty of reels less than 100. H2O mettle is popular, many people it seems start on a black max. I learned on a cabellas tourney that I like. Plenty of options.
  9. 3 today. That water is crazy high!
  10. There is an app for Android called fishing knots that shows hoe to tie all the knots I have ever heard of. Nice for me to have it portable, until of course I drop my phone overboard tying a ne knot.
  11. From the shore using white spinnerbait or senko.
  12. Have had some luck in the area. Biggest guy was around 2.5#. Usually catch a couple anyway.
  13. This weekend? If you work second shift that means you are off at arguably the best time to fish (morning) when everyone else will be at work. The lake is all yours!
  14. So I ordered one of these back when this was going on. I received an email a short time later that it was back ordered. No big deal. I just got an email that they cancelled my order because they are no longer in stock and they offered me ten percent off. Now that's messed up. Dicks indeed.
  15. Here is a great thread on how to fish senkos. Sometimes you also have to vary things and twitch them some. That said, I am still probably missing more than I realize, because I don't set the hook when I feel a little resistance. The general theory is that if you feel you are fishing too slow, go slower. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/
  16. Growing up there you hear it is actually the most dangerous of the great lakes because storms blow in fast and the waves react quickly because it is the most shallow of the lakes.
  17. I have a pair of nylon timber lands that are as comfy as slippers.
  18. Being that I have a Jon boat it sounds like you'll have to be a body builder to pull this off.
  19. So how do I know 50% of my line strength? If I have eight pound line, how hard should I have to pull on my line to engage the drag?
  20. At fountain head marina? Thanks for the tip!
