Thanks for the input guys and if I like the baitcaster I will definitely check out the mettle. As I am just getting my feet wet, I went with the cabelas reel and a 6'6 lightning shock medium for $20 total. Seems like a sweet deal to me.

This is good feedback, and I never even thought of eBay for some reason. Does anyone have any experience with the cabellas reel? I can get it for $15. Seems hard to go wrong unless it is just a total nightmare.

I don't know if this is a thread hijack or just saving space so just let me know. I am looking for the same thing focusing on Spro hollow frogs and something that I can jig and pig with for a budget less than $60.

If these were MH I would be all over this, but I was just checking my rods and have 4 mediums. Granted they are cheap six foot ones, but don't need any more. Was just thinking about getting another rod for Jigs and pigs or frogs. This was my price range though...

I'm pretty new to fishing as an adult so forgive what may be obvious, but why braid with frogs? I was checking out another thread and they were saying they use "x" for everything but braid for frogs. Is it just because it tends to be around vegetation and braid wears better there? Why not just use heavier mono?
