Design Of Boats ?
I can't recall the number but I am sure that wraps are pretty pricey.

Battery Gauge
As said it will tell you the remaining charge but you will know that as the TM slows down. Probably nice to have but for me I'd opt for more tackle.

Flourocarbon Breakage Issues
I have fluoro on a reel for at least 3 years and it is just fine. At the price I can't be changing more than necessary!

Problem Spooling My Baitcater Reels.
I have had this problem and for a time corrected by guiding the line with my finger as I spooled it up. I noticed one day that a reel was full but not evenly spooled. I went fishiing and the line evened out while I was fishing. I don't worry about uneven spooling anymore! I do use a Berkley spooler but I'm not sure the it has ant effect goog or bad.

Nose Hooking A Fluke?

Live Bait...your Opinions
Anybody that blasts anyone for using a legal method for taking fish or game should have a brain check. Blasting a youngster should also require a heart check.

Help Me Pick A Baitcaster Under $150
Bearing will make the reel seem a bit more solid since they eliminate a slight amount of play experienced with bushings. In regards to casting only 2 maybe 3 have any significant advantage. Every thing I have read, and that is considerable, all reel manufacturers use the same quality bearings. My memory says AFBMA class 2 but the number could be wrong. As the number gets higher the quality goes up. I think the reason for this is that the manufactuers use select fit for the higher quality bearings.

Lure Retreiver?
I have two. The BPS extendable aluminium pole with a plastic line holder on top is the most used. It extends to 10 feet or so and also picks the occasional lure out of a tree. The other is a weight with chains that you attach to your line and drop down to the bait. It is not as effective as the pole but it will get down to deeper hang ups. Both have paid for themselves both in lure and time saved.

Rod Casting Problems
I think 20# line is too heavy for a spin caster! I wouldn't go over 10 and probably choose 8.

Fish Breaking The Surface?
While it could be carp or many other species I have caught many surfacing bass by throwing to the spot. I respectfully disagree with fish moving after they feed. If the prey stays they will hang around. While these creatures make us look like dopes more often than we care to admit, they have a brain the size of a pea. I doubt very much that they can keep track of or evaluate the calories in a given meal. I think they continue to feed until the forage moves or we put them down. Many years ago I was fishing the Ontario side of Rainy Lake when there was a huge mayfly hatch. I could not get a hit although I had a few swirls on a PopR. Never went fishing again without a fly rod and flies in the boat.

How Long Does It Take For A Fishing Show To Be Filmed?
Back in the days when it was done on film not tape, I attended a Joe Foss talk. He said they allowed 5 days for filming with a major issue being the weather. Cloudy one day and blue bird clear the next was a big issue. I would think this would be cut down quite a bit with the ability to video tape and having more cameras. For those who haven't joined me in the "geezer" class Joe was a WWII fighter pilot who had a weekly fishing show and hosted ABC's the American Sportsman after the war. To be a fighter pilot ace you needed to shoot down 5 enemy planes. Having shot down 25+ Japanese aircraft Joe was a 5 time USAAF ace. He also claimed to be a 1 time Japanese ace by way of being shot down 3 times being and crashing 2 times so he destroyed 5 U.S. planes. Joe Foss was a true hero. Go to Google and plug in Joe Foss for a larger account of his contributions.

Accessories To Which Battery?
Everything except the TM to the cranking battery!

Clear Water Or Stained?
IMHO stained(not dirty) tends to bring the fish shallower which makes them easier to target.

Kill The Bass!
No! I have never heard of a location where bass were considered pests. I do know of private and public lakes where the owners and DNR ask that fish be taken home since the lakes are over stocked. I'd ask the NY DNR what their position is on destroying the bass. Local opinion with out scientific studies are rarely correct.

Baitcaster Thumbar Won't Stay Engaged
I took my first flipping switch reel on a Canadian smallie frip and had the same issue. When I got back I went into the tackle store and showed the clerk. He said just flip this little switch and it won't do that any more. DUH!

How Common Is For An Area To Be Hot One Day, And Dead The Next?
Years ago fishing a lake on the MN/ONT border we pulled onto an island point and caught several walleyes right up against the shore. We fished that lake for many years shallow, medium, deep and never caught another walleye there. So the islands name became "One-Time Island".

Ever Have A Teacher/proffessor That Hates Fishing
It is true that your job is to learn but his job is to teach chemistry not promote his idololgy on fishing or any other matter. If it continues discuss this calmly with the principle and if that doesn't work get your parents involved with the superintendant or the school board. There are many studies regarding a fishes ability to percieve pain from many with credentials likely far greater than his that say the opposite of his view. I repeat his job is to teach chemistry!

I have one called, Catching Fish with Maps", that is okay!

24 Volt Charging
I second Way2Slow's comment re don't count on the big motor charger keeping the cranking battery charge up. The set of jumpers in my boat are the result of that faulty thinking.

Man I Hate
We really don't know how many fish we release don't make it. Several years ago a buddy and I were fishing in Ontario. He hook a nice northern pike on a medium spinning outfit with 8# line, no steel or fluoro leader. It took a while but we boated the fish, weighed it (16) and worked on survival for probably 15 minutes and she swam away. Later maybe 1/2 an hour I saw some thing floating with a sea gull taking some interest. We went over and it was the released pike. I have a musky cradle so we got the girl in it and I'd guess we worked on her for 45 minutes maybe more. She swam away again with a bit more gusto than the first time but I've never been sure of the survival but if we fileted her for dinner she would certainly be dead. Partially because of this I get bent out of shape when a fishing show host holds up a fish and talks and talks about how they caught the fish. Catch the fish, get a quick picture if you want and get it back in the water or put it in the live well for dinner.

Help Installing Trolling Motor, First Time
I replaced a 1980 or 1981 42# Motorguide with a new 68# Minnkota in about 1995 and used the same mounting holes. I would think a dealer that specializes in trolling motors or bass boats would be able to give you a heads up on any issues. The only problem I had was holding the new motor still while I got the first bolt snug. I should have had some help for about 15 minutes.

Silly Hook Question
Friend and I were in Canada fishing for smallies. He was into the red hook thing. Here are my observations; 1. The red wore off very quickly in the rocks, 2. He seemed to catch just as many after the red wore off as before, 3. I csught more fish then he did. Oh! I always catch more fish than he does. I think he red hype was good for the tackle companies. They sold more hooks, lines and what ever else where they could add some red.
